Is it possible to get gold in all licenses using the Sixaxis/DualShock?

I've done B, A, IC, and IB all gold with a Sixaxis, with the sole exception of IC-10. That one seems doable as well. The run where I got silver, I was about 1.5 seconds behind the first place car, and I know I gave up 1.5 seconds through mistakes on that run.

I'll be starting in on IA licenses shortly...
 
Got all Golds in B A IC and IB. IC as below took a while, you just need to be very brave in turn one!

I found the braking test in IC (i think) hard, had to turn ABS off and with the pad it was a struggle!

Havn't done any IA or S yet, will do IA tomorrow and give S a smash on sunday.

What is frustrating is you'll be on one licence test for 30 minutes or so, and end up being within 0.05s consistently and finally get Gold, move onto the next test, do it first or second time by a huge margin!
 
For anybody trying the licenses with Sixaxis, my settings that work best -- when they are accessible:

Traction Control = 1
Active Steering = Mild
ASM = Off
ABS = 1

Yeah, it would be more rewarding to do it with no assists, but come on, this is a Sixaxis controller... ;)

I got all gold in National A and B with a dualshock.
Got to international and I started to give up.
The times for some of the gold are borderline ridiculous.
I have 5 gold and 4 silver in International C. Last race is pissing me off, because I keep hitting the damn cars or the track with that unstable ferrari.

Same, got A and B all golds, gave up on IC and settled for silver.
 
I just knocked off the IA license, all golds, with Dualshock/3.

It was actually easier than most of the earlier licenses, in my opinion. IA-10 took about an hour, but really wasn't that bad. Seemed easier than IC-10. And the issues with IA-10 have nothing to do with using the DS/3.
 
seemed to me that the licenses are easier than in the previous games... got all gold on a,b and almost ic, just got the last race left:mad: but i wonder if i can continue to do this till the very last license challenge. getting a little tired of trying so many times, same for the special events though.
 
Stick with it. It's possible. I'm at 59 golds, 1 silver now with DS/3. Only IC-10 to go back and clean up, and judging from other threads here, that might be the hardest license test in the game to get gold...
 
Really hard.. I haven't spent the money on a G27 yet.. really considering it though. Maybe even one of those racing stands, but for now my controller will have to work. :-\
 
I have now gotten at least silver for all tests within a, b, ic, ib, and ia using the sixaxis. In GT4 I did manage to get all golds with a dualshock2, but in GT5 it seems much more difficult.

I'll try jbrennen's suggestions tomorrow.
 
I've managed to gold all 60 licenses, and all of the special events that i can currently access (I'm LV 22), with the controller. I had traction Control on 0 or 1 depending on the test, active steering off, ASM off, and ABS on 1.

If spend all day tomorrow trying to do this, IT'S YOUR FAULT!

:idea:But then again, maybe I'll just pay closer attention and actually acquire the skill and get it done.
 
Got all 60 Gold as well with the controller. I use the X and square FWIW. The only time the controller has made me contemplate the wheel is the NASCAR tests with the wall of cones. Hard to keep it real steady.

What settings do you use? (ABS, TCS, steering assist, ect)

Every test I go in and turn TCS to 0, ABS I leave (it is always 1 I think) and that is all I change.

There are a few tests in which I left the TCS at 5 because it was making me mad (ic-10 and I think one other)
 
I've got all gold in 38 of the first 40 tests (can't remember which one that's up to). The two that are left are frustrating, so i'm leaving them for a bit while I continue playing the game.
Some are surprisingly easy, but others I have spent about 30-40 minutes trying to get gold on! :grumpy:
 
I have golds in all licenses and special events using a dualshock 3. So it's possible.
 
Golded 40 licenses so far, but it's been a pain in the ass. A couple of licenses took me 2hrs+ (especially the double hairpin thingy), but got them eventually and damn it felt good.

I'd say it is very possible, as Gran Turismo and all other driving games are pretty much all new to me.

Just wondering (call me a newb :P), when talking about driving settings, no one ever mentions whether they use automatic or manual transmission. Which one do you guys prefer?

I got all gold on National B & A classes with a DS3. It's all about smoothness. If you are still using X and square, I doubt you'll gold them. Try switching gas and brake to R2 and L2. Another quick tip is if you know your going to fail, restart.

But then, i have played since Gran Turismo 1 so im not a noob.

The licenses in GT5 are easy compared to the other GT´s. Try the license in GT2 with pennzoil skyline on mid-field track...:ouch: 0.0XXs to 0.00Xs seconds from gold about 20times...ahh comon!!!:yuck:


In GT5 its all about timing, and finding the correct driving line. Some driving lines in GT5 is wrong (in my eyes). When i drive my own "line" i get gold easily, so try find your own "line".


Now back to GT5! :dopey:
 
Hey guys. Timing is everything in GT5, as before mentioned. I have been playing for many years since GT in 1997, and yesterday I took all lincenses in 6 hours. With a dual shock... Timing, timing, timing... start learning the license/track/circuit with 80-90 % on the throttle, and then build it up to 100% as you learn to corner ideally... :) Hope it was helpfull... the sixaxix rox if one knows how to play GT..

Just got all gold using the SIXAXIS joypad. I use the cross and X and O always. Special License is the easiest. In fact, I think the difficulty decreases as the license level increases.
 
I made all my silver to gold in National B liscense yesterday :) BUT i thought the prize car would be "Tommy Kaira ZZ-2" the nice fast one but it was the "Tommy Kaira ZZ-S" which is the ugly slow one.. :/
 
I got gold on 52/60 at the moment - can't get the last ones as my PS3 is broken, can't read any blu-ray discs. I have never used anything else but original PS3 controllers my entire "PS3 career", so I don't see the problem with this - still, I am getting my first wheel next month or so because it's so much fun :)
 
I have done all licenses gold with ds3..
If u have a problem u can pm me.
I use the right joystick for gas instead of x o, so I get much better throttle control.
And normal arrows for right and leftZ

OMG I think we have a winner. If he can do that with the arrows + the right analog stick for gas/brake the licenses are definitly doable for everyone on a ds3

As for myself, I kind of hate the licenses. I think that's the same as school for kids, if they are there they hate it like hell but as soon as they start real studying/working they think: hey I did that once and now i really know how to use this or that math formula.

As for my Gold/Silver/Bronce (yes BRONCE !!!!) i rushed through the licenses because i thought you would need them for the races. So as soon as i completet a licens test i carried on to the next one, not careing for the metal i got there, so about 1/2 is bronce, rest is silver or gold. But I'm coming back to them as soon as i want the price cars you get there.
 
I've gotten all golds on the license tests with the Dualshock controller. It's the only thing I use. Also have all golds on the special events.
 
I only played the first 3, and golded all except the 370Z and Silivia's from IC.

It would be easier with a steering wheel but it's not impossible with the controller.
 
Hi Lads, I managed to do this with all golds. I went through them one by one and only moved to the next once gold had been achieved. I use the shoulder buttons for accelertation and brake with traction control and ABS both set 1 (everything else is turned off). This can make the car hard to control at low speeds but the raw power conpenstates. There were a few tricky ones such as the cone slalum and Tyoko in the S class but overall I found them easier to get than in GT 4.
 
I got gold on all 60 with the sixaxis and it's certainly not a waste of time. It can be done with a realistic amount of affort.
I also thought the s license was the easiest
