is it? cause im not too impressed in the jagged edges even on premium.

Most likely not but I'm not a programmer.

Theoretically it's possible... But I'm afraid it would be a multi-Gig update.

Is it technically possible? Yes.

Will it happen? I dunno, GT5 is pushing the PS3 pretty hard as-is. Not sure how much more they can squeeze out of it.

This is like the first time I've seen anyone mention jaggies. Are you sure you don't just mean the shadow edges? They're unrelated to aliasing.

It may be, but good god, you must be incredibly hard to satisfy. It's obvious a good portion of this game's development was spent on it looking like it does. If it could look any better, I'm sure it would have.

Premium cars look great, the scenery looks mediocre. I'm really not impressed with GT5's graphics. The trees, the shadows, lack of detail in the environment, etc.

LOWER CAR COUNT IN GAME, JACK UP AA. PROBLEM SOLVED. i dont need to race against 12 cars 8 is fine with the saved poly count jack up aa

You joking right? Game looks aweful, just race Mazda Laguna and look around, its ps2 textures and tiling everywhere, terrible shadow maps. I think they sat around for 4.5 years, at least thats what the work in the game reflects

you know I just get way too involved in this game to even notice, I had a awesome online game last night de la sarthe, day night transition 1x mandatory pit stop honestly didn't think about jaggies once! was having too much fun.

Bigger Tvs at a higher resolution stand out like an absolute sore thumb. On my 50 inch samsung its soo bad you cant not notice it, cause its tearing everywhere. Most the time yes im into the racing but thats still not an excuse, and it still stands out really bad during racing since im always looking at my car or around it

No, I'm not. If the game could look any better, it would have. Kaz. was already well known as a "graphics whore", and he probably felt this was as far as it could go with what they wanted to accomplish. The game already pushes the PS3.

I have a panasonic 50" 1080p and 32 on my racing rig, like i said I don't even think about it as I enjoy the racing, not so much the looking at shadows and trees and birds.
Also in regards to your Tv I do notice a difference going from my 50" plasma to the lcd the lcd makes things a little flat, is your tv lcd, led?

You people are unbelievable....

I cannot believe that some of you people whine about such crap, really. The shadows are by far the worst part of the game but who cares at all, unless you play games for the graphics then it shouldnt be a problem. Graphics ARE NOT EVERYTHING, quit acting like it is. Why complain about such a thing, how about you play it for what it is.

Is it not stupid that a RACING game which has you going 300+km/h needs to look like a bloody tree and road texturing simulator? Racing games are about the cars and the physics and the gameplay, the rest is just a blur. Give me one really good reason why the road textures and trees can NOT be the way they are and I may just give you a cookie..

Just to remind some of you here, the PS3 is a 4 year old computer running on really old hardware. What they have done here with just 256mb of video ram is incredible...

This is the kind of ridiculous statement that occurs when someone hasn't played a PS2 in 5+ years and his memory of the graphics are blurred by the sense of nostalgic wonder that invades his memories.

My thoughts exactly. If you're not satisfied with these graphics, I can't even imagine what you'd think of Forza 3's cartoony graphics.

Extremely pedantic much? There are not many games out there with better graphics. I don't know of any, but I'm sure they're out there. GT5's graphics are pretty much one or two levels away from looking exactly like real life.

the shadows, and if you look at the A SPEC picture in MY HOME, there is a really pixelated object right next to the left elbow of the GUY WITH THE CLIPBOARD (not sure if it was a clipboard he was holding.. and standard cars' wheels, some premium cars have sorta something funny happening with some aero kits.

lets get back on track the OP asks is it technically possible to upgrade/fix/adjust whatever term you want with an update. whether its needed or not its a technical question

I remember when I played Gran Turismo 2 on PSOne. I thought they had sacrificed graphics in order to add more cars... then I played Gran Turismo 1 again and realising that the graphics sucked way harder in the original.

I played GT4 recently and the graphics were mind blowing for the PS2, but don't be fooled, they are nowhere near the graphics quality of GT5.

It's all about the cars, and the premium cars are all absolutely beautiful.

I have a 48" TV and I don't notice any problems per se. I mean driving 180 MPH through the streets of Japan or Italy I am scared to even look in the mirror let alone study the graphics of the car I am driving. But I come from the days of the Atari 2600 and the game astroids so the graphics in this game are unbelievable to me.

+100 I didn't know the PS3 has only 256 MB of Video RAM

OP yes it is possible, PC games i play have updates for things of this nature and no their not always huge updates.

62", yes i see the jaggies in the shadows and I'm disappointed.

Kaz said a few days ago in an interview with a german game magazine, that it is not possible to fix graphic problems, caused by the graphic-engine, with a patch. So the shadows will stay that way.
