The codes are not active as far as I know. Also, even if you do share them, friends will not be able to drive them. The Get In (or whatever it's called) option will be in active as well.

I managed to get a code only to find out it doesn't work in the EU
I sent it to a US chum on my PSN. Now I can at least look at it.

Doubt the code is still axctive either

I stand corrected as you did say it could be shared. It can't be borrowed though. 👍

You must have a US copy of the game to go with your US & EU account.

I tried using a US account with an EU game. It didn't work on either account.

If you have the code, it comes up to 5 accounts on your ps3. I have 3 and share them with myself to have them at different pp levels. Best looking car in game in my opinion. Well,............maybe not but definetly top 10.
