Like, was it done stupid? What's the storyline about (No spoilers, just a premise)? Are the special effects good? Any classics in there? How are the car chases?

Was thinking about renting it.

Is this thread in the wrong section?

Not anymore.

Can't tell you about the movie short of I'm not running out to get it anytime soon.

I found it to be just plain awful, I couldn't make it all the way through.

Like a horribly exaggerated Fast & Furious movie.

I was just trying to get it on Redbox but they were out of stock. Waited ten minutes on a family to find and rent three movies for nothing. Who watches three movies in one day anyway?

It's nice, but there are disturbing parts (such as the guy removing his clothes while leaving his workplace and the guy in prison twerking in the last part).

I plan on buying it on Blu-Ray when it gets cheaper, like less than $10. I liked it but not enough to pay full price. I had unbelievably low expectations for it and I was greeted with an OK movie. I think the F&F movies are better, but even if you don't like the story line or acting in NFS, you at least get about 2 hours of good racing and loud engines.

But I liked it enough to buy this.

That's what I got for not looking for a Movies And TV section :dunce:. Thanks 👍.

Never watched Fast and Furious. Too expensive to buy all thhe movies.

What? That's..... Odd.

How good is fast and Furious? (see all my original questions, but apply them to F&F)

How good is fast and Furious? (see all my original questions, but apply them to F&F)

1). Is it stupid? Every movie has at least 1-2 stupid stunts that are extremely imposible.

2). Basically each movie has a story arc, like "Fast 5" was about pulling a heist in Rio, but the overal "lesson" in the movies is basically that they, the characters, all stick together and care for each other and because they are family but they are all still criminals and they happen to drive cars (I think the cars get more interesting as the story progresses.)

3). Like any movie in history, the farther back you get, the worse the movie is in CGI. But overall they are pretty good.

4). Dom (Dominic) Torretto drives mostly classic muscle cars in the movies (Such as his famous 1970 Charger.) There are some in in 2 Fast 2 Furious, and there are others scattered throughout the franchise. I'd say there is a nice balance of Imports, Muscle, and Tuners.

5). The racing/chases are pretty good, usually some occasional stupidity occurs, but each movie has at least one good one with out something dumb happening.

As an added note, I suggest watching them in the order they came out. But the actual order in which the movies occurred is this:
Fast & the Furious
2 Fast 2 Furious
Fast & Furious
Fast 5
Fast 6
F&F Tokyo Drift (this movie was made 2nd but happens after Fast 6, chronologically.)

I hope this helps. :) 👍

Thanks. Definitely looking into them. Any particular reason for suggesting to watch them in the order they came out, over chronological order?

I watched the movie last night. I expected it to be god awful but it turned out to be... decent. Like, maybe a 6/10. There was a few funny scenes and obviously a few completely impossible scenarios (I'm looking at you "Grasshopper" )but I think the story itself was OK.

Becasuse at the end of Fast 6, after the credits, they explain an event that happened in Tokyo Drift.

Thanks. I was worried they'd try and make it an awful comedy, instead of a racing movie.

Yep. Honestly, it was a mix of NFS Hot Pursuit 2 (youll find those scenes, they're in the "main race" at the end) NFS The Run (awful, awful game) and partially NFS Carbon. I'd definitely recommend a car guy to watch it but don't expect much... this isn't RUSH.

I think I'll watch it eventually, but F&F sounds like a better idea. It had me at "Charger".

Also, I want to watch Eleanor, Smokey and the Bandit, and Ronin. All of those feature some of my favorite cars.

It's the sort of film you find yourself wanting to watch only the once. Don't get me wrong, its an experience - the earlier setpiece races are pure car porn (retro muscle cars getting thrashed?:drool:) and all the stunts were done for real, so no dodgy CGI - but it's not gold dust either.

Plot is your typical revenge story moulded over something akin to NFS The Run. Protagonist is a moody down-on-his-luck hero. Antagonist is an evil millionaire untouchable who slips between English and American accents so much it aggravates (British actor, American character).

Basically, everything looks fantastic but there's nothing keeping me coming back to it.

But it has Jesse from Breaking Bad so it has to be good right?

such as the guy removing his clothes while leaving his workplace

I feel obligated to point out that the character in question sort of has a motive for this

Can confirm the first 20 minutes are a godsend.

Sounds like it's worth a rent, but not a buy! Thanks.

Well dont expect a oscar material storyline, its got plotholes too but i watched it for the racing scenes and loved it. The racing scenes definitely felt like it pays tribute to the original NFS. I did like it more a bit than FnF in terms of racing scenes since they do it without any cgi for the stunts. I do think that there is some cringe worthy part but it didnt turn me off that much.

The best part is both the first and the last race imo

Can confirm the first 20 minutes are a godsend.

Yes... No music, just pure car porn and the shots of the drivers are amazing, just like from the 70s

@GTboyz Since they had the new car and stunt coordinator since FF4 they've been doing far more real stunts than CGI, FF2 and Tokyo drift had too much CGI especially FF2 and FF1 also had stupid CGI (first drag race).

If go into the movie with low expectations then you'd be surprise with how much fun you can have with the movie. -side note- All the cars are replicas but very impressive looking replicas.

Really ? Didnt know that. But i the sense of speed in NFS somehow looks better than FF6. I could see the cars were sped up and the sense of speed looked kinda fake (especially when Roman's Mustang went went crossing the lane to chase the tank).

But maybe this time i just prefer NFS than FF series now, even though NFS sometimes looked ridiculous (Saleen/SUV scene) but somehow it still felt real than FF. Still gonna watch FF7 though

Dont get me wrong they do real stunts but have unrealistic outcomes and even state this. In the last movie the Escort Walker drove made the jump but the frame of the car was bent so they used a different one to continue on after the jump to make it seem it was perfectly fine. So while the jump was actually done the reality is a car like that wouldn't be able to keep going safely soon after.

Ah yeah i actually realize that one was real, well maybe im just a bit tired with the unrealistic outcomes lol (not that NFS stunts outcome are all realistic).

Around 2:18 until 2:22 is what i meant, the movement of the stang looked like it was done in a much lower speed than what the movie shown, it looked too sharp to me lol

I figured they were fakes, what with Ferraris having to sustain millions in damage for some scenes .

It's a pretty good movie if you're just watching solely for the car scenes - which, to be honest, you probably are. Any scenes that try to be 'broody' and emotional don't really work. But the actual car scenes are very well done, and the characters actually have reactions to the speeds they're doing, instead of just a blank/serious face they all do in the Fast and Furious movies. And suffice to say, there are some funny lines here or there in it.

Only real issues beside the poor emotion/'love' scenes are the budget saving in places. In one stunt, you can clearly see wheels from a V6 base model Mustang since they no doubt ran out of copies of the wheels on the actual car. Also, the supercar replicas are indeed pretty decent, and most average Joes wouldn't tell the difference, but there are issues that take away from them, like missing badges, not being quite the right proportions, etc. Oh, and the 1st person views, whilst cool, clearly show the the gauges not doing anything. Sticks out quite badly.

The thing that really irked me about that jump wasn't whether or not it was doable in a perfect way (which, to be fair, probably could be done after numerous tries/wrecked Escorts). It was the fact that you can clearly see stuff falling off the front of the Escort after the jump, yet in the part where he saves Roman from the tank, the front is magically fine. Call it picky, but I just found it annoying, just as much as Diesel's Superman moment.

Look at 3:37 in the posted video, then skip to 3:47.

Agreed, the characters reaction to the speed is so great, made the characters a lot more "human" than FF characters which had straight faces or "badass" faces, although in some occassions, Paul Walker character do react to speed or situations.

And some of the replicas that looks best is the Sesto Elemento, it looked convincing real. Wish i could have that lol
