IMO it won't outsell Halo 2. I think there are a lot more people out there wanting to play a shooting/action game like Halo 2 than there are 'carnuts' who will flip over GT4. Heck, I dont even think GT4 will outsell GTA:SA. It doesn't have anything to do with the quality of game, but rather the core audience for GT games is smaller than that or shooters - plain and simple.

I think it won't outsell also, but something tells me that PD and KY's creation will definitely not dissapoint anyone, not like the games it supposedly can't outsell.

I took a glance on Bunjie's forums and it's littered with people saying how crappy Halo2 is and that Bunjie should have their asses sued.

Even GTA:SA has some people saying that it was either too big, some missions are too hard, or it's tedious...etc.

i beat HALO 2 last nite....12 hours and 22 minutes....it was a tad disappointing...especially the end...and the levels were really long and tedious...thats what peeps are complaining about...but it did keep me on the edge of my seat so props to Bungie...HALO 3 will hopefully be perfect...and yes...i do believe there will be a 3rd HALO...but you gotta beat the game to see why...anywho...again i'm off topic...so i'll shut up till the next post that interests me crops up :sly:

Halo 2 is the same engine. GTA: SA is probably a little too big for the game's engine to handle. I now see that i don't give a damn if GT4 outsells. It is still the best ever made.

Back on topic then. ;)

YES-UM!!

Still hoping it'll outsell. With more cars and improved gameplay, it'll appeal to a bigger audience, no doubt. Maybe not a WAY larger crownd, but bigger nonetheless.

Did anyone else notice but me.....that the most anticipated games of the year are sort of "dissapointing" to people? I think with all the news feeds and stuff we heighten our expectations too much.

I suppose that's one advantage I have, in that my parents live well over a thousand miles away. :)

Why dont you have someone else reserve it for you? :O :)

it will never outsell HALO 2 but it will definatly kill GTA:SA in sales...think about it...there are GT nuts worldwide...in most well developed countries...it has a huge fan base vs. GTA:SA which from what i've been hearing is not quite the hit that it was expected to be...many people are complaining about having trouble relating oto the game and that it is too big. I for one agree...i don't like it that much

Are you crazy!I have GTA SA and have finished the main story, took me 42hours (60% done with some side missions completed), the game is awsome and I have heard very little bad opinions about it, which is the opposite to Halo 2 which I have heard many complaints about. GTA SA has been selling record sales in UK (not sure about else where) and Im confident it will out sell Halo 2.

BTW check the user reviews on Halo 2 and GTA SA and see the average score for both.

I think shooters are more openly popular.. the sort of games that people make a big deal about at the water cooler or the lunch room. But walk down the isle at Best Buy sometime, there's a LOT of racing titles out there. And GT is the cream of the crop when it comes to racers, and everybody knows it. It'll sell, and it'll sell big, but it won't be a big party event like Halo and GTA are. Just folks strolling into the store, buying a copy, and walking out, rather than a bunch of people running down the street like Daffy Duck "Woo-hoo!!Woo-hoo!!Woo-hoo!!" and making a huge deal out of it. It's more of a cult phenomenon... Like Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Everybody's seen it, everybody knows it, everybody loves it. But nobody talks about it.

Wait a moment, McLaren Kitty... burnouts on the roof? What if the person lives in a port-o-potty or a cardboard box? What if the person lives in a 3-foot tall Barbie dollhouse? I'm just joking around, folks! Fear not, my friends.

As I say, I'm glad GT4 is actually getting praise from the public. Regardless, I still want to race any and every track in the game. I'd love to roll around downtown Tokyo (Tokyo R246) from GT3. Tokyo R246 is pretty fast for a street course. I think the weirdest deal about it is that in the License Test from GT3, IA-1 (car given: Lancer Evo VI Rally Car), the description says that "if you think of this course as one big corner, you'll be able to drive through it fast." Let me tell you something. This track is technical, yet fast. And I like it personally. New York will probably favor the high-speed courses (unless PD has a short course planned. Then, I'd want to maybe race Manhattan or something). Of course, I want to see why a lot of people like Nurburgring Nordschliefe. I know you all gave your reasons, but I'd want to know why by racing it.

Should be a great game. And oh, with all the talk about HALO 2 doing well, I like "GTA: San Andreas," and I'd still want to play that game. But for now, don't miss my house, Santa. I've been good.

Santa can miss my house, being that I'm 300 miles away in a dorm, and that I've ha it preordered since oh .. September. I can't wait, too bad it comes out in the middle of my exam week 🤬.

i don't know man, i'm going crazy over it. the day it comes out(12\14), i will be at the game store before it opens so i can pretty much guarantee i'll have it.. then after i get it, i will run out the store, down the parking lot like daffy duck yelling "woo hoo!!! woo hoo!! woooo hooo!!!!" :dopey:

you should've seen my reaction when i got the PSM(playstation magazine) mag way back when GT 1 game out. i was so hyped, i was screaming at the top of my lungs(it was actually the first time info, pictures, and Gran Turismo 1 memory card stickers were being given in the magazine). when i got my hands on the game i was even more hyped.

in summary; the GT series is my favorite game of all time- i'm absolutely crazy over it and have no shame in admitting so. :sly:

Well, so am I, I'm just not in the habit of making an ass of myself in public. But I'll probably break a few traffic laws on my way to the store when they call and tell me it's in. Which is bad, because the store's only about a mile and a half down the road. And, of course, the ****-eating grin on my face as I walk out of the store, GT4 in hand. :)

GT4 won't sell as many copies as Halo 2 in as short a time. Halo 2 sold over 2 million copies in one day.

Gran Turismo's hardcore audience that would buy it on day one is relatively small, but the game appeals to many kinds of people, so the general audience is pretty large. Gran Turismo 4 will interest anyone who likes cars at all. Halo 2 doesn't have that kind of appeal.

Plus, Japanese people are crazy. they'll buy like 1.5 million on day one, like with GT3. Halo 2 isn't out in Japan.

And you are not the only one! :O I'll be speeding all over the place and would eventually get pulled over. But the police won't give me a ticket and will let me go because I will do the "Sad Kitty" FACE!!! meow... (=;.;=) :O:lol: 👍

Next, I would be at the end of the line at Gamestop and WILL make my way to the front of the line by using my Sad Kitty FACE! (=;.;=) :O

Saleen: Um...Excuse me, I am really cold and want to go home. But I can't until I get my GT4 copy. Can I please cut infront of you?
Last person in line: Awww...go ahead! :)

or...THE FASTER WAY!

*First customer got his reserved copy of GT4 while I am in the 215th place in line*

Saleen: Um...Excuse me, I am really cold and REALLY want to go home and play GT4. My kitty here is also very cold, but also hungry for some Meow Mix at home. :( Is it okay if I can have your copy of GT4 so I can go home and finally rest with excitement?

First Buyer: Awww....I feel sorry for you. I guess it doesnt hurt to help someone near Christmas. :) Here, take my GT4 and give me your reserve slip and money. I don't mind getting back in line again to help someone in need.

*I take the copy home happily. Meanwhile...the nice person looks for the end of the line and finds out that he would be in line position 876!*

LOL, if only it worked like that for us guys. Since GT4 drops right in the middle of my exams, I plan on taking some books and showing up a few hours early so I'm in the front of the line. Oh, and by "few hours" I mean camping outside the store for two days to make sure I'm number one in line. Nah, I'm not that much of a loser.

The bad thing is that atleast for most people by me...they have all of their exams that week. I only have one on the 17th and then on the 21st and the 22nd That means that I won't even have the weekend. :(

Same :guilty: . December = finals = death.

McLaren'sAngel, the face I may have to show is more like... "p*ssed off black guy face." But I'm reluctant to getting the game. As for me, the game is released December 14th. That will be a Tuesday. So I'll probably be taking my Environmental Science Final, then look for my Cultural Antropology the night after, then my third English essay is due. So I'll be pretty busy, but look at it this way. Once I'm done in school, I'll be rewarded to GT4. Cool, huh?

Luckily for me, I won't need to break any laws on the way to pick up my copy like I normally would. My copy will be coming to my door from Hong Kong! Hopefully on the 4th since I paid for fastest possible shipping. 22 more days......

But is it in the right language, Dirkiyo?

Also, does anyone agree with the following: No-one should be allowed to post anything about GT4's content (ie tracks, cars, modes) until after the game is released in PAL territories because I'm sure there's a lot of us who would be rather mad if someone came along and spoilt the game for us. Either that or maybe a sub-forum to prevent people from seeing topics entitled "Car X in GT4!!!!!!!" I know that we'll all be to busy playing it for a few days, but I'd hate for the game to be spoilt if someone does get on and feels the need to post stuff about the game's content.

I disagree. "Spoilers" are indicative of story elements, unexpected twists, etc. A racing game doesn't really contain anything spoilerish. And that's coming from a person who hates spoilers.. I stay away from anything that might ruin the experience of watching a certain movie or playing a certain game (something story-driven, like MGS). But I see nothing wrong with reading info on a racing game. It's about the driving, not the surprises. Finding out if "Car X" is in the game isn't going to change a thing.. it'll make me want the game even more, so I can drive that car. But I certainly won't be mad about it.

As it has been since the game was released. Kaz is looking at it possibly for GT5 according to an IGN article, but with all the problems with the release date a lot of people don't trust them.

Well, spoiler threads usually have a warning attached to them so you don't accidently stumble onto any surprises. But I would say if you don't want to know anything about the game before you get it, you should stay away from this forum!
By reading through this forum now you are already seeing spoilers anyway.

Oh yeah, and Kaz already said there are 'spoilers' in the game. :D

You know, air spoilers, wings....Ah forget it.

You know, air spoilers, wings....Ah forget it.

Har har... :D

Realistically, it's impossible to keep spoilers off the board. Even if a policy was implimented, only the long-time and/or regular users would be aware of it. There's no way to warn a newbie ahead of time before he posts the topic "What's your best time on LeMans?" or "Best suspension setup for Ferrari 360?" and there's your spoiler, before anyone has a chance to warn him off.

The board does have a "minimize" feature that hides sub-forums entirely. You could do that to completely remove the GT4 forum from your vision when you visit the site, and then make the concious decision to avoid reading this particular forum. It's the easiest answer all around, and it's the same way that spoilers are handled everywhere else. TFN has an "Episode III" forum that I simply avoid, I don't try to supress the people who want to talk there.

...YEAH!...man so they just said "2005" to get the PRESS(URE) a bit away from PD so that they can work on and hadn´t to give interviews!!! :dopey: 👍
...but what´s this??

Two words: Japanese Yen.

The numbers are no doubt adjusted based on locale, especially when there's such a wide variance, as there is between Yen and Dollar. If they used one set value, some people would think things are very expensive, while another group would think it's very cheap.

5000 yen roughly equals 50 dollars US. Which is the same "50" from GT3.

If they simply made it "50" everywhere, it would seem insanely cheap to a Japanese person, because in their mind they're thinking yen... and you can't even buy a cup of coffee for 50 yen.

Or picture a cheap new car, a Daihatsu, for example. 10,000 credits. Sounds about right for an American.. 10,000 is right around where a cheap new car goes for. But for the Japanese... 10,000 is insanely cheap... less than the cost of a PS2!! It's the Japanese equivelant of a hundred bucks.

I imagine the value of "one credit" is altered depending on location, adjusted to be more like the local currency of wherever it's going, at least within a wide margin, like yen to dollar. Or Norwiegan Kroner to a dollar, which I think is around fifty to one or so. Smaller incriments like Euro to dollar or Australian dollar to American dollar are close enough that the amount can be left the same.
