It's all about marketing. They are building excitement around the game to attract more sales.

I understand the whole marketing thing. But, i think they have delayed the game enough times to build one hell of an excitement amongst gamers.

Is anyone noticing a trend? atleast from what I have been reading today, Gamestop seems like they are getting their copies in today and EB isnt getting them till late tonight or tomorrow. I would say gamestop is doing something right. I received the call saying I can pick mine up tonight at 830! woohoo

It shouldnt come down to that. They knew they were going to have a huge rush...they should have planned according months ago. But then again I didnt pre-order til two weeks ago :dunce:
 
I've been calling around in my city, Edmonton, today. My local Zellers thinks it's today. Toys R Us thinks it's today. EB said tomorrow. Other places said the 24th or "this week".

Wal-Mart? Those cocks are trying to convince me it's not until March!

Right, I have some more calls to make, see if it's shown up yet.

Not holding out hope for getting it today, but seeing the first pictures on here are from a Canadian gives me a glimmer of hope.

True.

But think of it as "last minute marketing scheme". Rather than showing you a commercial on every channel (I have yet to see a GT4 commercial :dunce: ), they set a release date and delay pre-sales. They know exactly what they're doing.

In other news:

If I get the game tonight (from Gamestop), I will definitely be pre-ordering game in the future from this particular retailer. If I have to wait until tomorrow, I will look elsewhere...

The local walmarts here are stupid, they all have a yellow board with games on it that says both GT4 and mvp 2005 baseball are coming out march 3, thats why most of the walmart locations are telling you this either on the phone or in person, they have a cardboard poster up saying this!

Man, I am flat BROKE! I did not plan this very well, I am in college right now and don't have a job. My funds are low as it is. My PS2 that is 4 years old finally died a month ago. Now I am screwed. I don't have 200 bucks to throw down..... :(
 
Well, I think I will have to rethink my Best Buy "Reserve Your Game" card...Just called my local Walmart and they say that they are getting GT4 at 5pm today. I'll just have to see... :crazy:
 
Keep in mind there's a few distribution centers just outside of Toronto. Makes sense that we'd get things right away. About an hour and half and I can sneak out of here.
 
For those of you in the Bay Area, Fry's will not have gt4 until tomorrow. I was at the San Jose one and there are signs all over the place saying that its not there yet, I'm guessing they did not want people asking them all the time about when it is comming out.
 
There is a guy in Baltimore, Maryland on another forum claiming to have received his copy along with 6 other people. Here is number to the EB that he claims to have bought it from if anyone wants to verify it.

What pisses me off is that yesterday I called Target and they said "We'll get it tomorrow afternoon, come by wednesday just to be safe". So I called this afternoon (about 1:00) and this girls says "We might have it tomorrow". WTF! Just pick a damn date. It is really gonna make me mad when I wait until thursday to go get it, and they say " LOL, we sold out tuesday evening, hehe." Assholes.

Someone has gotten it already and posted pics, proving that people did get the NA version today. Just wait a while longer and some of the local EB game stores will be handing out GT4 as well, and we'll have more pics of GT4 floating around to prove that some members of GTP did get it today, the 22nd...

The common consensus was that most people here wouldn't get the game until the 23rd or later. In the meantime, you made post after post about it being out on shelves the 22nd.

Learn to quote people, I NEVER said others wouldn't get it today. I said good luck and provided the date that is flying around the most, the 23rd.

You act as if they know for a fact when the game is coming in. If you've actually worked in retail, you'd cut them some slack...
