My local GameStop is flying in the pre-orders from their distribution center. This time tomorrow, I'll be holding my copy.

...and...

Tomorrow night they are hosting a GT4 Release Time Trials tourney at the local Hooters. First prize is a free copy of GT4, which by the end of the evening will have my name on it :D :cool:

(my brother, who has to work, will get that copy)

Meh... I wonder if our local hooters is doing the same thing? How did you find out?
 
WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!

I called Best Buy and they told me it got pushed back to "March 16th" I was like "Okay." So I decided to call Toy R Us expecting them to say sometime in March instead they said "It will be avaliable tommorow morning!"

What a surprise! What is going on?! Isn't Toy R Us suppose to be out in March and Best Buy tommorow? Im so confused. Seems like I will be going to Toy R US.

I just read about your local hooters gt4 tourney and my jaw dropped.
I wish I was in a place where people cared about gt like that. :D

Also, I'm lucky enough to be on the 22nd ownership date as well. 👍
Local EB games has my reserve and because of the lacking interest in my area I was able to get down on a semi-personal level and find out that the game would be in the store by late tuesday... Furthermore they plan to stay open until later than usual because they know how much people want the game. 👍

Let's hope that tomorrow night I will be playing through the arcade mode or something. :p

I can't wait to start the WRS in GT4 vision. :drool:
 
I just got my phone call from Gamestop. "Gran Turismo 4 will be available Tuesday evening". WoooHooooo! Man I feel like a nerd.
 
The person at Best Buy most likely had no idea what they were talking about. I have called 7 times today and got a different answer almost every time. In my most recent call the guy said "it doesn't come out untill tommorow." It better be out tommorow, I'll be waiting at the door...

All the local gamestops here in VA said they would have it tomorrow afternoon. Same goes for EB. Best Buy said tomorrow or Wednesday, they would know in the afternoon.
 
If you look back at page forty something I wrote a post describing a little test I did calling all the major stores in my area. I'll just paste it here to further proove the point that when calling big stores like best buy, you will more than likely end up talking to someone who has no clue...

Decided to do a little experiment today... I go to school in Reading, Pennsylvania USA and I easily came up with 8 places to call about availability of GT4... Here are the results...

Wal-Mart: "We're not sure. The earliest it will be is probably early March. Last I heard anything about the game was January." Was on hold for about 5 minutes... 👎

Circuit City: "We're not sure on an exact date but I can tell you that the game was shipped to us on the 18th of this month so it is expected sometime this week." Was on hold for about 1 minute... :indiff:

Best Buy: "The game will be available on the 23rd." Hold time was about 1 minute... :indiff:

EB Games #1: "We should have the game by tomorrow night." Hold time was about 3 rings of a telephone... :)

EB Games #2: "The game will be here tomorrow afternoon." Hold time was 1 ring... 👍 :dopey:

2 FYE stores: "We will have the game by February 23rd." Hold time for both was the same at 3 rings... :indiff:

Target: "We don't know. The game gets shipped directly to us and whenever we get it, it will be on the shelves." Hold time was about 4 minutes... 👎

Needless to say I won't waste my time calling anyone else other than EB games tomorrow to see when they get it in. They were much better in customer service and as up to date as possible on the release. 👍

My Best Buy said the same thing: they will know tomorrow at noon if they got it on that shipment, otherwise it will be there on the 23rd


Gamestop: "I'm driving across town to pick it up at 5:00 - it will be in-store by 6:00 PM on the 22nd - looks like I will be skipping my first of many Law School classes because of GT4.

Target: 24th

Circuit City: "What is Grand Torisimo?"
 
Luckily for me there were only 36 pre-orders at the EB where I paid for my game here at school today (Reading, PA) and they too are driving to get the game and will be back around dinner time (5-6pm). Back home (Central NJ) the local gamestop had a pre-order list of 325 :scared: .
 
ahhhhh only the rest of this night, then 3 classes tomorrow, and i will be in heaven :D (that's what this thread is for right, freakin out?!?) (hey it's just about as useful as debating a one day difference in release dates..)

our waiting is finally coming to a end. Noquarter your so lucky that ur local hooters is having that tourny. o and this is kinda off topic but Noquarter. does that name have anything to do with Led Zeppelin.
 
I just checked a whole bunch of places, and ended up settling for the 23rd. Oh well, price of being in a city I guess.

So then I tried Gamestop. They told me there was a chance they'd get it on Tuesday, but they're saying the 23rd, and they reccomend pre-ordering it. Word.

EB had a busy signal.

I tried a local game store. I got GTA:SA from this place so I wouldn't have to deal with the huuuuuge lines that were happening at the time, and then when I had him ring it up, he charged ~$65!!! I was pissed, but not enough to not get it. Anyway, the guy's kind of a jerk, makes me torn about whether or not I should support the little guy if he's gonna be an over-priced prick. (The guy still wants $25-30 for a used copy of FFVII for heaven's sake) He's not getting GT4 it till Friday :scared: , so that debate is over, haha.

I decided to check out EB since it's next to Best Buy and Gamestop anyway. On the way I stopped in at FYE, and they'll have it the morning of the 23rd. I went in to EB and there was a line of about 10 people for random stuff, no wonder they had the phone off the hook. I waited for a bit to ask when they were getting their copies in, then saw GT4 cases on the wall - their stickers said "2/23". I thought about it, and decided I didn't wanna be in a mall or EB, since it's probably the most well known gaming store, so I decided to head over to Gamestop. Nice people, very short wait, and I just bought it from them. The guy told me it was coming Wednesday, with the addition of "There.. well I don't wanna say there's a chance, but it's possible it will come in Tuesday... but we're expecting Wednesday. " He told me they'll call me and let me know what is going on with it, which is cool.

Then I got some lo mein and came home to feel gypped about misreading 2/22 as the date I could have it, haha.

Oh well :p

OT: My local GS proprieter said he had over 200 pre-orders, but since I'm a "preferred" customer, if for some reason distribution falls short of what he's pre-ordered, he'll be holding one for me.

I'm already planning on leaving work early ;)
 
Meh just to show most of BB employee's don't know what their talking about... I called up there a few min ago to see if they got a shipment in... I talked to a different manager... He told me "I haven't heard anything about it... They're tight lipped when it comes to GT4, no release date has been put out. I think it got delayed again." When I heard that I hung up, what an ignorant person.

I'm still betting on them getting it tomorrow morning. If not I'll blow up BB. Almost having regrets for pre-ordering it from BB, guess I will see tomorrow. Only reason I pre-ordered it from there was because I was working there :(

Well I have 1 BB in my area, 3 wal-marts, 2 EB's, a toys-r-us, a circut city, and a game ware... If one of those nine stores don't have it tomorrow I'm gonna crack...
 
My best bet is Wal-mart. I live in a somewhat small town so hopefully no one will pick up GT4 there. I'm sure most people pre-ordered it from EB or Gamestop in the next town over. I'll probably go there tomorrow to see if they have it, although I dought they will. If they don't have it I'll just have to wait until the weekend to go to EB or Gamestop. Or............and this is a longshot, I could give my mom the money for the game and she could pick it up on her way back from work one day this week. :sly:
 
Got my call this afternoon from Gamestop that my copy of GT4 will be available tomorrow evening. Called them back and talked to a human being who told me that it would be available "around 12" :)
 
I preordered my copy at GS today and they said they would call Wednesday and that it will be available that morning. Guess I'll stop by Tuesday night to see if they have it all ready.

I talked to a guy who said they have it there in the back and it will be out tomorrow.
I asked what time about............
He says about 12:30
I say ok so around noon
He says, No, 12:30 tonight cause we cant actually release it till tomorrow
I say ok THANKS BYE........

damn it, now only if i had a ride cause my car is broke at the moment, lol
