Why is this nose so long when they don't plan to put a V12 in there? Is this just for aesthetics? It looks unnecessary and weird.

It's clearly meant to try and give the impression of the E-Type from the side view, but done in a "modern" (aka slab-sided and needlessly bulky) manner. Which makes the whole "Copy Nothing" tagline ring even more hollow.

I don’t get how Jaguar is so bad at building cars people want to buy. A brand with that legacy, it should be easy!

Get back to the drawing table, design a new E-Type with slightly more modern design but with all the classic traits intact. Price it well below the 911.

Build a beefed up and cool XJ with retro styling and premium interior with lots of leather and wood.

Go HARD on the legacy thing, build cool cars that reminisce of the glory days and build the best interiors. Give them an attractive price compared to other luxury brands.

Easy 😎
Unfortunately you can't pull the "legacy" card when nobody wants to buy your products in the first place, which is why Jaguar went for a total rebrand.

It's just sad Jaguar avoided the race track pretty much entirely in the past few decades, leaving it up to privateers to do all the racing for them. Motorsports does wonders for a car's popularity if you look at the new Corvette and Mustang.

The thing that sucks is, it's expensive to build up that image, and success isn't guaranteed. So they missed their opportunity by not putting in a consistent effort to take the F-Type or XK racing very much. Those cars were raced in GT3 and GT4, but not in sufficient numbers to attract any attention outside of niche regional motorsports fans.

Car companies these days are slowly becoming lifestyle brands as well, like Xiaomi which is a really good example. Consumers are seeing cars as appliances pretty much, an extension of their smart watch or phone. The weird agender sci fi marketing didn't help at all, but it was pretty clearly a step towards that. They definitely could have had a much stronger initial showing and this would have working out much better, though.

They might have fired their top guys recently, which I really don't think was the main issue, it was the marketing department that created the fiasco...

Looks like Jaguar hasn't given up entirely...

In this video, it looks like a very large EV 4 door sedan
EV XJ ?

Tire shops will hate you because of this one weird trick...

Last I checked, they got rid of the Agency that did the ads. Guessing they got rid of whoever decided that was a good idea as well? Cleaning house perhaps, ridding them completely of that whole thing.

Why is everything reminding me of this? I don't want to see this thing anymore. Please, stop.

Rawdon Glover signed off on the Accenture Song ad and defended it to the press.

He's still in charge at jaGUar as of yesterday.

These things usually require board approval, so firing one person (particularly Gerry McGovern, who's been part of the business for 20 years) would just be them choosing a scapegoat.

I listened to the Smith and Sniff podcast, where Richard Porter talked about McGovern's dismissal - he felt that it was most likely caused by a personality clash/McGovern being notoriously unpleasant to work with.

On the plus, it looks slightly less like a slab-sided E-Type.

On the minus, it looks even more like a squished and stretched R35 Skyline.

This thing should really be wearing dark metallic colors instead of bright satin, all they're doing is emphasizing how bulky and boxy it is. Wrapping a brick in velvet doesn't make it elegant.

They should never ever show this car in this color again.

Re-invent the brand, they said. Make it look like a Chinese copy of a Rolls-Royce, they did.
Copy nothing they didn't.

But then it wouldn't be "Loud and unapologetic".
If it's "loud and unapologetic" they're looking for, they could rename it 'The Donald J. Trump and Jaguar Type 01 EV Sedan' 💡

If they really wanted it to be loud and unapologetic then they shouldn't have made it electric and stuck a snarling V8 under the hood instead

In my opinion, the last XJ was so hideous that almost nothing Jaguar could do would be worse. I mean, they are trying pretty hard....but at least the proportions look good.

It does feel that Jag has been giving the words to the auto journalists to convey to us, so that it reminds us of the Jags from the 60s 70s 80s..

Here's the JEC video which seems to be replicating the theme...

It looks great from the inside.

Jaguar Type 01 (units sold)

I really hope this rebrand actually works because I know with the old cars they weren't selling, but throwing away the brand's entire history and pedigree for this tactic was pretty extreme.

"So how many vehicles do you have in your lineup after this rebrand?"
"Oh, one."

I hope they have a clear idea of who their target market is and how to appeal to them, because I sure still don't.

Serious reboot for sure. Hyundai USA started with one car, look at them now. ;)

Not sure you can really compare the two considering by the time Hyundai started selling globally, they didn't have the finest reputation prior to their massive glow up (In comparison to Jaguar and its Very long history).
