The xp is horrible. At least the tracks are fun...something new to grind at least. Unforunately, at that rate of xp gain, it will still take FOREVER to hit level 40.

Yeah they shouldn't have had a PP limit on all of the races... some of them should have been unrestricted so the AI would be driving Minoltas, Nissan R89C, etc. We need some high paying seasonals since the SSR7 glitch is gone!
 
HA! I joined an online race a few nights ago and apparently it was a just setup by some anal little doofus trying to sniff out / punish those who were "cheating." His innocent question about how many cars I had quickly turned into a full inquisition about how I got so many, did I glitch, did I dupe, etc. :yuck: Like I told him, "If I see a $500k car in the UCD, I think about how many others I could buy for that price. Usually I'll pass and buy a bunch of cheapies that I think will be fun to drive instead." I'll probably suffer for that in other Seasonals, but today I have 31 cars that qualify for this one! :)

I bought the Isuzu 4200R '89, since I've always wanted to try it out... and it's qualifications for this set of bonus races made it even more interesting. Yeah, it's a bit on the overkill side with 450 PP stock... but in the end you end up enjoying a great MR premium with all digital dash, "LCD" and a Fax machine!! :sly: The chasis and suspension was designed by Lotus... and it really shows!

In GT5 I have the '90 CRX SiR, which was the identical model to the '89:

Unfortunately the '90 doesn't qualify for this challenge, and according to mygrandturismo, neither that '89 CRX SiR model nor the '90 Civic Si Hatchback which I owned in real life for 16 years exist in GT5... unless anyone knows otherwise.

Still that '90 CRX SiR drives great in GT5 very fun handling on the Nordschleife for such an old low HP car.

I'm planning to use the '83 Ballade Sports CRX on this challenge:

For the naysayers...

Where in A-spec can you run an 80's car with 200hp and win $74k??? That logic is ridiculous. This is WAY more interesting and entertaining then grinding LTW-Indy over and over and the payout is the same! I just don't understand that the problem is?

No one is saying they are perfect, I'm still waiting for races where I can use these ridiculous, un-sellable prize cars, but I'm really enjoying the new races. They allow me to use some fun, inexpensive cars that I wouldn't otherwise have any real "use" for and actually make money... not $3k a race in Clubman.

As for lacking the gigantic XP payouts, I can't remember the last time I saw user online who wasn't at least in the high Level 20's... and most are in the 30's. Why should PD keep jumping everyone up to the highest level quickly? What's the gain in that for the? (or for you for that matter.)

I think if your only goal in Gran Turismo is to reach the highest level and hit that 100% as fast as possible then you are missing the forest for the trees.

^^This is exactly how I feel and I've said something very similar to this myself in another thread.

I had a quick go around a couple of the tracks today (SS5 and Eifel Kart) in my Celica GT4 with only an oil change and sports hard tyres. It was some of the most fun races I've done offline in the whole game!

The Eifel track in particular with it's crazy four or five (can't remember) continuous right handers was great in my old Celica. You can really hoon it round this part of the track whilst keeping the tyres squealing in protest:tup: I hope this course will still be accessible after the expiry date:)

Have already had a lot of fun with the Classic car seasonal events, can't wait to break out my 80's 'Japanese Junkers' for these races... got my eye on the MR2 in the OCD as well :)
 
I just finished all Japanese 80's Festival in my 300ZX TT 2seater (Z32) '89 fully stock on Comfort/Soft @ 289HP/6200rpm.

Sorry for the noob question but, after you finished a seasonal, can you drive it again and gain the same amount of cash and xp?

This is better payout than indy, and it's shorter and more fun- with the overpowered cars. Or you can challenge yourself some with it and run an MX5 at 190hp and less weight with some sport hards- i even went comfort softs so i could have practice for the 80s time trial

I used the same car, stock setup for the first 2 races, haven't had time to do the rest. Its a bit tail happy so I cheated by turning on ASM.

One thing I really like about this event is the return of SS5.... I used to love that track in GT4 (or 3?) and I haven't come across it on GT5 yet (or have I and forgotten??)

I had 2! Both looked rubbish so I bought the Fairlady from the Nissan Dealer, chucked some sports tyres on and a decent gearbox in, and breezed the first race.

Is the fifth race the Eifel (Kart) track??? If so, three laps of that for 87k?! All my 80s Japanese cars are going to take a stab at that one, for sure.

It's a glitch. On the menu it says three laps, but it's actually 5

Yeah the Mugen Civic makes these races an easy win.

I ran them in my 414pp N/A MR2 on comfort soft tires. Did ok until the Eifel kart track. I came in 3rd. I think I can get 1st without changing anything but I gotta rub a few fenders to get around the slower cars at the beginning. I'll post a video if I achieve it. Loads of fun if you stick to comfort soft tires.

agreed, the mugen civic is a great cornerer even on stock suspension setts. With a little bit of tuning this thing can beat cars much faster than it. If there were any online racing leagues this car was legal for I'd do it in a heartbeat.
 
I just tried these ones for the 1st time today. I used the premium '89 Fairlady Z ;) , which is one of my fav. cars ever :)

It was fun and the payout was even better ;)
