hey everyone ive seen alot of touge videos but i dont understand what is touge or wat does it mean is touge the only track we see in BMI videos or touge can be other places

Touge means "winding road," "mountain," theres so many definiations floating around now. Basically they just mean a mountain road.

So it's mountain drifting. I heard about it in Japan, but never seen it or know much about it. Is it racing as well as drifting? Or just racing, or just drifting... or?

Racing and drifting. Quite over-rated. It's nothing new. The Europeans were doing it way before the Japanese were, tarmac rally....

touge racing is downhill or uphill drift racing on a twisty mountain course. two cars start out with a set gap between them. if the lead car has increased the gap, leading car wins. if the trailing car has decreased the gap, trailing car wins. if the trailing car passes, trailing car wins

download or hire some initial d episodes, or watch some japanese import dvds, and you'll see touge racing. it's very exciting :)

i dont think thats what touge racing is but i think wat you have jus said^^^ is jus initial D type racing on the touge or on a touge

Well as it was said "touge" just means winding road.... so Touge racing is racing on mountain roads... Some drift, some race and some do it initial d style.... I've driven hundrets of km on touge roads in Japan... believe me, nobody has to tell you what to do, you know it ;) ... japanese mountain roads are just awesome, best ones I know... They are (99%) in perfect condition and the amount of curves and haipins is just sick ! Play Initial D on PS2, there are some courses where you tend to think " Yeah ok, right, this course can not be real, way too many curves, who would plan a road like that ?" Japan did... thank you ! 👍 👍 👍
Oh just one thing, maybe, it's dangerous as hell... these roads are so small, so if you ever have the chance to drive on them, be careful...and then have fun drifting ! :sly:

Touge is "summit" on the mountain pass. Since the roads that leads to the touges are very twisty, they are often used for racing, drifting IMO.

Here in Adelaide Australia we are in the foot of hills so we have tons of hilly windy tight roads like those in Japan very fun. Some are that tight I feel like my Skyline can hardly get around.

I am always in the hills. :D

 Japan's an narrow country, made up of many hills and mountains, so they didn't have much of an choice.

Ok that is a point ;)
Yeah...well.... if I think about it, the only alternative would have been tunnels or perhaps more agressive road building without caring about too much about the natural topography.... :dopey:  :dunce: :banghead: WTF am I talking about ....
 TOUGE

We have roads here in socal that are a lot like those seen in Japan. They really are a lot of fun to drive, and even sometimes drift, on. However, personally, I've realized how reckless and risky running touge is, and now stick to track.

I am merely the messenger...He & company would like to thank you for removing yourself from their running grounds. He would also like to add that your transmission was not glowing...

I don't even recognize him or his car, for one, secondly, transmission glowing, what the hell is he talking about?

Additionally, whoever he is, why does some stuck up elitist Initial-D wannabe (yes, I'm aware of how stupid this screenname is, it seemed cool four years ago) think he has any right to say who can and can't be driving on a public, taxpayer-funded, road? I'd like to see how "the crew" who thinks they have a claim to these roads do at a real road race event, or even a Drift Day or Just Drift event.

HE: I'm nice till someone gives me a reason to not like them. Mainly, people who have participated in the flamboyant disreguard for others. I've seen that you were a member of the long faded and loud-mouthed DriftPimps forums. Association with that forum is means enough. Yes people already knew about what we were doing up there, but to parade around like it doesn't matter? Disreguard for others you say? Because of your lovely groups who don't care about the rest of us, we've been litterally chased through and out of the forest on numerous occasions. You wanna see how we'd fare on a track? We've all been there and done that, this isn't a mattter of street vs track. This is a matter of pride in your roots. I can say from autocrossing, driving at TXMSR & Streets of Willow before I started running, that I've learned and evolved much more on the street than at any track I've ever driven at. Our abilities aren't restricted to whats familiar, we take what we've learned and adapt to the situation whether it be on a run or at a track. So I'm an elitist am I? More like a realist. We make no claim to the road, nobody can, we make our claim for the group that LOVES these roads. We, Us, "the Crew," are those with the passion to preserve what we have left after this whole deal blew up and out of proportion. Initial D Wannabe? Sorry Takumi, but judging from your last performance running with us and the condition your car is in, you aren't in a position to be calling others wannabes and groupies who aren't suited for the track. You're lucky my girlfriend isn't ripping into you, she'd be much more harsh. She has the passion for driving you lack. End of discussion...

- HE "The Black and Maroon Comet of _______" ...you know, since I'm a wannabe and all.

Yes, I was a member of DriftPimps. However, I never discussed, or condoned discussing, any secure locations or roads. I was always against that part of the site, in fact.

So I didn't drive well the last time I was up there, and my car wasn't in great shape. However, what do you expect from someone with as little experience as I had at the time. Would it have been better if I pushed 100% to gain a few seconds when I had neither the experience or the skill to drive like that? Are you going to tell me that you were never a beginner? That I was supposed to gain skill and speed without actually going out and driving?

I don't know what's going on, but it's funny.
(munches popcorn)
You two should probably deal with this in PMs, actually.

Yeah sounds very "the fast and the furious " style to me... street wars....

Oh, come on. So I mentioned it once. Number one, TougeFriends is a joke, a bunch of newbies posing around trying to act hard. Secondly, take a look around the site, the roads had been mentioned, and in full name, dozens of times before I was ever there.

And last, do you think the cops need to go online to figure out what's going on? They're not stupid. If you got chased off the hill, 99% chance is that one of the people who works up there and who nearly got taken out by some reckless driver called it in.

Actually, that's the Kanji. It's composed of the characters for up down mountain. The word doesn't have a literal meaning like that, though.
