JGTC S1 Round 2 Qualif + Results

As the teams run their practice runs at Midfield, there seems to be new activity in the pits. Few new rigs pull up bearing the name "Blind Sweatshop Kittens" with MR8 and Teledriel looking over their cars.

Viper, I'm moving today, tomorrow and Wednesday ... I'm not sure how it's going to impact my PS2 time, but it certainly will to some degree. I'm not sure if my computer and PS2 will be up and running on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I'm going to try and get whatever time I can tonight, but is it okay if someone else sends it in for me?

I'm going to try to make sure that I can sned it myself before the deadline, but if - let's say - I get jump_ace to do it for me (he lives locally and I can call him if all else fails), is that okay?

Yeah that's perfect, the only thing I want is to receive a time from each and every driver in this series. Been sent by you or another gtplanet member that's ok, the important thing is that I get something. :)

London, UK. Hello, I am Kenny Schabow for LosingTV with 'breaking' news. As of a few hours ago, famed driver MR8 has left team KPM Motorsports to join with Teledriel. KPM now stands for Kenny, Peyton, and Missing.

We've been invited to Ian's private loft (MR8) where he is getting to know Teledriel.

In other news, I beat my target by .2. I've been faster in a couple of sections, but I'd really have to freaking nail it to beat my ghost now ... heck, hOt set a pace for me and if I were any faster, I'd match him, so I think I've done pretty good.

Probably will not run again because of the move, but I won't submit until Wednesday just incase I can find the time.

Welcome aboard to the 'kitten team'. Remember that the race administer is a stickler for the rules so please understand about the weight penalties rule. Also, please remember the rule that states, to paraphrase, that you can't finish higher in the standings than me.
 
It's Round 2 of the JGTC 2005 Season and we are live from the beautiful site of Mid-Field Raceway. We are in the test and tune sessions for the moment and the vast majority of teams are all in the paddocks working hard on their machines. Oh wait a minute, I see a big mass of journalists coming my way...it looks like there's a GT300 driver surrounded by this huge crowd. I'll try to move closer and see who it is. Is it...hum...yeah...yeah it's him. It's the Elite Motorsports GT300 driver eatsviper4lunch. Him coming from a so close podium finish at Twin Ring Motegi with a 4th position. I'll try to sneak up and move those damm bastards to collect his comments.

"Viper...hey Viper...how would you rate Round 1 and your overall performance?"

"Well, the 4th place finish was something really positive and a good base to start the season on but we were really looking for a podium finish. The car was eating up the tires alot more than some other cars in this field so we had to deal with that. The pitstop strategy we decided to use wasn't maybe the best out there, but at least they were done flawlessly. I made a small mistake during the race seeing me missing my braking point and taking the turn with too much speed resulting in an off-course excursion. Other than that all went well, my passes on the slower cars were done carefully but aggressive at the same time. The car seemed well balanced for the track and it showed in the final results with the Amemiya taking 3rd and 4th position."

"Round 2, Mid-Field Raceway. What do you expect from the qualification session?"

"I have alot of pressure now in this round, having to back up a 2nd place pre-season and 1st place on round 1 in hotlap sessions. It's going to be tough this time around, but at least I can count on the weight penalties from the previous round to slow down some of my rivals. I know the track layout pretty well so right away I should clock some decently fast laptimes. Today later on I'm up for my first session of qualification, and I should conclude with the second one on Wednesday. I'll push to the max, always have, always will. Look for me to be in the top qualifiers, that I guarantee you."

"Thanks alot for your time and we're hoping to see you once again at the front of the pack to start the race."

"No problemo, it's a pleasure for me to race in this series. The crew, the crowd, the cars, everything is just fantastic...Oh and the JGTC girls also."

I met my goal and don't know whether I will be able to lose any more time before qualifying ends.

BREAKING NEWS

New York, NY (AP) - GT500 driver MR8, recently traded from JGTC powerhouse 'KPM Motorsports' to the controversially-named new team 'Blind Sweatshop Kittens' for 2 knee pads and a 5-year subscription of Martha Stewart's Living magazine, will undergo arthoscopic surgery today at Mount Sinai Hospital.

MR8 suffered severe injuries to his quadracept and hamstring in a test session crash at the remodeled Mid-Field Raceway yesterday evening. Witnesses claimed that his Toyota Denso SARD Supra lost control "right outside the tunnel before the hairpin", spun and slammed into the concrete wall next to the stands. No one was seriously injured except coincidently, KPM Motorsports driver Kenny Schabow. Schabow suffered a minor concussion and his MRI results are negative. Although it is uncertain that he will be able to participate in this week's race.

KPM Motorsports spokesman Josh W. Busch has released this statement:

"We strongly believed that MR8's incident yesterday was a deliberate attempt of homicide. We all know about M.R's recent 'ordeal' with our team members and I believe he was out for 'payback'. It is unfortunate but we have handled this case over to the NYPD, until then we will have no more comments. Thank you for your concerns, there will be a special gift pack for everyone in here courtesy of the Home Shopping Network so please stop by on the exit..."

JGTC Series Chairman eatsviper4lunch has not released any statement thus far.

MR8 has been taken into custody by the NYPD and is currently unavailable for comments.

New York, NY. Sergeant Billy Appington, of the NYPD, has just issued a public statement concerning the recent tragic events that happened today.

"While GT500 driver MR8 was doing hot laps in a Denso Sard Supra, rival ex-partner GT500 driver Kenny Schabow was searching in the grandstands for Peyton, who had fallen through the bleachers after hearing results of his disappointing Week 1 run. Kenny was just about to reach Peyton when MR8's Supra slammed into Kenny, crushing his already injured right leg. Witnesses claim MR8's car was in complete control until suddenly veering left into the wall.

Upon impoundment and further investigation of the car and accident scene, NYPD officers found traces of dynamite in the Supra's front end. Also evident was the use of electrical tape loosely holding integral areas of the car together. Fourteen airbags were added to the Supra's interior resulting in a feathery cushion to support MR8 as he slammed into the wall. Furthermore, the tires were found to be in complete working order and are now being shipped over to the FIA for use again.

My professional opinion is that MR8 rigged his car for the purpose of taking out Kenny Schabow. Sources also tell us that MR8 has links to the Australian Mafia and the Indonesian Ebay Scammers, two powerful terrorist groups.

Eatsviper4lunch is being held for questioning, and his track Midfield Raceway is being examined for insufficient wall protection from deranged maniacal race car drivers."

In other news today, Peyton is still missing. Efforts to reach him at his Oklahoma shack have failed.

Morning here from Midfield, alot of tension is building up as the teams get their practice runs in and get ready for Qualifing. We are here today with Teledriel, the GT300 driver for the new Team Blind Sweatshop Kittens.

Teledriel, welcome to the JGTC. Seems there is a bit of contraversy right now with your new teammate MR8 and his old team KPM Motorsports, any comments?

Thank-you. Glad to be apart of the action. Well, I do hope that they can work out any differences. MR is a great driver, and we will need him on the track this weekend. I am sure they will be out there this weekened, bumping and rubbing. But that is all about racing. We will see though. Hopefully he can still keep it together.

Saw you out on the track yesterday, how did it go?

Well, Midfield has been a good track to me, in the lower series style racing I have done. So that is a plus. Want to thank Honda for putting a good car together for me, she just feels right. Midfield is a great place to get good runs in and have a good start. They are working on it right now, making the adjustments I asked for last night. Trying for about .1 more out of one or two of the turns on the back area, from what I saw on the films, but think I can get that.

How do you see your compeditiors?

I am in a very tight field. being the rookie, I know I will be watched by a few of them, but there are alot of fast drivers here. Alot of them I know from my other racing venues. Rob, Driven, Kolyana, Student, to name a few. They are all great drivers and I know my skills will be put to a test. I just hope I can keep a good pace and help the team out.

Any last comments?

Just glad to be here, even if the announcers are boggling up my name all ready. Just want to thank our all our sponsers for giving me a chance to race for them. Will see ya at the race this weekend.
