JGTC S1 Round 2 Race + Results

nice runs guys,
my teamate got the fastest lap over on the GT300 side

1 thing i dont like so far, is the stupid soft tires are still faster when you have to do like a 5-6 stopper race.... thats kinda lame...

Copy/paste the 'Thumbnail for forums(1)' link and put it in this thread....dunno why Mozilla would have errors with that. Try IE if it refuses to work.

Thanks for the reply kennythebomb 👍
All works ok using IE, not sure why netscape wont allow me to paste in the message window, mmmm strange. Still a work around has been found so its ok.

Too much weight for me  :D

Magnificent Dion, you get good points and avoid to be heavier ;)

Congrats to all participants for a very fun race, and to eatsviper4lunch for his fundamental part in this 👍

The JGTC round 2 race has just been completed and we are talking to the driver of the #18 car, the Takata Dome NSX.

You finished 8th today, a similar result to last week. How do you feel about that?

"I must say I am rather disappointed. My lap times obviously were not consistent enough. I finished with one of the three fastest lap on the board, yet over a minute off the pace."

Is there anything you are going to do differently for round 3?

"Yes, I think I may have to rethink my tire strategy. I know I saved myself about 40 seconds by changing tire strategy in this race so it is more than likely I can shave off more time. Hopefully anyway. Yes my car is the heaviest but that shouldn't make a difference. No excuses here."

It seems that the final times are consistent with the qualifying times that were run here earlier. Do you have a comment on that?

"Yes, obviously you can tell who the big boys are. It is a good feeling to be running with them, but it would make me feel even better if I could get a little closer. Practice, practice, practice."

Are you excited about next week's race at Fuji?

"It will be good to get back to Japan. The fans back home are fantastic. I know a lot of people want the Takata to finish better so I am going to try not to disappoint. I am always excited about racing."

Thank you for your time

"Thank you."

As you can see, the driver of the #18 car knows he needs to push harder if team S&S Motorsports wants to get back into contention. We will be live next week with coverage from Fuji.

A few Pics from Lap 1 & 2

Bloody Alfa, was all over the place, got him as he ran wide on the exit.

Tried to get the lead under brakes at turn 1

Got turned in on and squeezed badly, tucked back in.

Hit the lead at the esses

Left them to argue over 2nd

Congrats to the Podiums 👍 , glad I was able to make up a couple of places and snaffle a couple of points with my slow and steady does it style.
Pitted on Laps 15 & 30 for HARDS all round.

Awesome race guys ... sotry I could only run once (move and all), but I hope to be back into the swing this coming week.

Lord, my tire stratregy is ALWAYS wrong ... I can't believe guys are running consistently 1 second a lap faster than me ... I really do need to work on that.

Congrats to all the podium finishers! Koly that was me, finshed 2 laps up on 2nd place. Maybe I shouldn't have posted that until time submission closed :nervous: viper?

Ran a 2-stop, pitting on laps 15 and 30. A little more consistency and I could've challenged for the win this week, but a lot of distractions yesterday (vacuum cleaner, playful cats, etc.) and I kept losing my "zone" :)

I just checked the results, OMG talk about drama in GT500 for Round 2! Some will :guilty: , some will  , some will  and others will :( .

Congratulations to all podium finisfers !!

Im big, big  :P cos i was faster than kenny.....
My tyre strategy was RM/RS for whole race pits on laps 9/18/27/36 - podium guys what were yours tyre strategy ?
Also refueling - i made it once (10 units) but it wasnt nessesery i think...
I have a question - if we have less fuel is weight of a car also less ? is that included in GT4 ?? I think it is cos my best lap was one of the last laps or it just me ...

Yeah the fuel weight issue has never been answered AFAIK. I've never had the time to test it myself, and while my fastest lap is usually near the end of a race also, I don't see a consistent reduction in laptimes over the race distance to fully qualify this theory. Personally, I don't think PD take fuel weight into account, but as I say, I've never tested this scientifically.

No, you are running faster than us, but you must pit more because you carry softer tyres :dopey:

I'm pissed and happy in another sense, my driving style does that I do destroy the tires faster. DRIVEN -USA- had the best strategy of the 3 using medium front/soft rear 11/22/34 but I tested that in the beginning and just couldn't make it. It takes me 9 laps to finish the mediums up front. :guilty: Both Barbol and ZeratulSG used the lap 15/30 pitting strategy, I also tried that but wasn't feeling good with the required tires to make that possible.

So I ended up using the 9/18/27/36 pit strategy with RM/RM. So basically I did 1 more pit than DRIVEN -USA- and I used lesser grip tires than him.  That's how easy a podium finish should have been!

Sigh .. ok, well first week jitters done I guess. Will hopefully get better as I go. Sorry MR.. but Gratz to all the winners 👍

Umm...don't forget that Barbol and DRIVEN are using different cars. The RX-7 is a little hard on the front tires. Likewise, at Midfield, lap 9 on medium fronts was where I started to lose grip badly.

We might be seeing a trend develop here. All the cars are fairly close competitors, with the hp adjustments evening things out even more. However, some cars will be harder on tires than others, and all things being equal (car performance, driver skill) the car with better tire wear will win.

viper, when you were running your performance comparisons, did you take tire wear into account? Because we may start to see a tipping of the scales on the leaderboard as the season progresses.

Just a thought :)

AHn i think i could had win, my best lap over RS tires was 1'05.072 and i was mostly running 1'05.2´s. But i got schooled by school and lets see now round 3. :nervous:

:) thanks viper - yea medium fronts and soft rears, its mainly how you drive the track, try not to let your front slide in the turns (push). In the first race i ran i could only get 9 laps :yuck: then w/ a little practice and a line i found i was able to get 2 more laps on the softer tires and my times were 1.5 seconds faster (go figure??)

Barbol

I need to look at my strategy again ... last race I used Hards and pitted less, with slower lap times, and also seemed to do something different than anyone else. This week I went with mediums ... and AGAIN did something different than everyone else!

My logic was that if I can run 2 seconds faster per lap, but make 2 more stops, there would be a net gain (total pitting seems to cost 30 seconds ... @25 for the stop and @5 seconds more on the following lap). I suspect that you guys on hard tires were running very close to my RM times ... so overall I had the wrong strategy and I was SLOW.

OMG, I'm an f'in idiot. I was rushing out of my house yesterday and made a retarded typo because I was gonna go w/o a computer until just now. My time was actually 53'00.763, not 52. Sorry eatsviper and everyone who were "beaten" by me. :dunce: :banghead: :irked: :O :scared: :guilty: 👎 :yuck: :nervous: :ouch:

I know, sorry about that. My long lost twin brother prolly did that to put me out of JGTC. :p Seriously though, I spent the entire day thinking "Did I put 52 or 53 in my submittion? It better not be 52!" :ouch:

Heh, just be glad you're not CFM of the WRS or the guys doing the WRS leaderboard. If you were, I'll probably have to flee to Canada...oh wait, that makes it easier for you to hunt me down.

Ev0 of Slayer Racing has made a press release regarding his thoughts on this week's race...

"I am very pleased with the results of this race. I did not have the time I wanted to put into some good runs towards the end of the deadline, but I am very satisifed with the results; I was very close to a podium finish, something I probably could have gotten had I had more time for a cleaner run. But, my lap times were very consistent, and I felt my pit strategy was effective for the race.

Congratulations to all of the entrants in both classes, especially to my teammate ZeratulSG who scored his second consecutive podium finish. Good luck to all drivers at Fuji; I'm fresh off the 1000km enduro in a GTR Concept LM car, so I feel much better about the track now (even if it was run at Fuji '90s)."

I really wish I knew what I keep doing wrong. Once again I think I am performing very well only to find that I am still slow. I really would like to think that I am talented enough take a podium or so but so far it looks as if I Im only good enough to finish in the back of the pack.

But In all honesty I still dont have alot of faith in the competiveness of the S2000.

TLR ... I know how you feel, and I'm not talking about myself but *YOU* ... you're faster than me man by a mile and I fully expect to finish after you every week ... something wrong here for you to be so far down the field.

Have you thought about re-running a few qualifiers in other cars to see if you can get higher or even re-run the race in my car and see if it's a lot different?

I just tested your S2000 at Mid-Field with 309hp and the stock weight.

By lap 5 : 1'09.890
By lap 10 : 1'09.758

Your car is way way easier to drive fast than my Amemiya. I was clocking 1'09.8xx and 1'09.9xx none stop lap after lap. With the time I took with my Amemiya to clock my pole position I would have netted a 1'09.5xx easy with your ride. What you need to realize is that the 1'09.620 I got in qualification wasn't a sunday's ride, to get that I was pushing at 100% of what the car could deliver. Thrust me, that S2000 is one hell of a competitive ride.

Testing I just did for Round 2

S2000 : 309hp & 1050kg

By Lap 5 : 1'09.890
By Lap 10 : 1.09.758

MR-S : 318hp & 1125kg

By Lap 5 : 1'09.810

Subaru : 311hp & 1100kg

By Lap 8 : 1'09.859

ASL Arta : 319hp & 1125kg

By Lap 8 : 1'09.895

Celica : 290hp & 1050kg

By Lap 5 : 1'09.340

Silvia : 323hp & 1104kg

By Lap 3 : 1'09.998

Than after testing all those cars I went back to my RX-7 (that I know by heart).

By Lap 5 : 1'09.643

Ok, all I can tell is that I don't have a single clue why the hell I'm fast like that tonight. I'm destroying all my previous times like it was nothing. Almost equal to my qualification I suffered to pull off and I did it in only 5 laps tonight. WTF  Oh and btw you guys are lucky I don't drive the WedsSport Celica.

Celica : 290hp & 1050kg

Was there actually a question in that post because I just don't know what to answer!

:) Wedssport Celica :) 👍👍

Tried to upload my race so all can see it - its too BIG :yuck:

If you want it let me know - will have to E-mail it

Just seems like those two cars are *Not* balanced - by your own testing; that's quite a gulf there.
