I need to take advantage of my weight for this week, I'll try and put some serious time into this race.

Just a quick question, why back to speed limiter for this race?

I'm feeling much more confident for this round after a solid performance in qualifying. Those first two bumpy twisty buggers with the DS2 were having me doubt my ability to compete this season :nervous:

I see my RX-8 is performing well VTRacing ;) Never underestimate the rotary.

Penalties, penalties, penalties. Walls, walls, walls. Stupid AIs, stupid AIs, stupid AIs....

OK, well evidently I'm not the only one who is having problems with the AI's and penalties. Even on Front RM: Rear RS I can't stay in front of the stupid AI. They are just too fast down the long straights, and don't pit often enough. This is really a tougher week than I thought it would be. I am going to put in a few hours tonight and hope for the best. I really don't want to run on RH/RM, but I may have to in order to get 8 or 9 laps on a set of tires :( Good luck everyone!

Yeah, this is going to be a tough race to win. Using RH/RH I was running a consistent 3rd but falling behind first place about 4 seconds a lap :nervous:. I can just catch them using RM/RM, so I'm going to have to try that combo this weekend.

My race was so bad, I got 4 penalties, two of them on the same lap! I got a penalty for hitting the outside wall on the right hander after T2, then just as my penalty finished the bastard AI rear-ended me into another wall...

I don't know how some of the AI can run so long on their tyres either, I've got one car running 13-14 laps on RM/RM! How can you compete with that?

careful with your language, Casio. Saying b*****d isn't going to make you very popular with the mods, you know. just thought i'd point it out :)

humm guys...one thing you must understand is that your final position in the race doesn't mean a thing, it's your final time that counts. It's not because you finish 3rd that you'll have a **** result on R3. I raced on Tokyo last season in my Amemiya and had no problem with the AI or penalties either. Don't try to pass the AI like an angry soab, calm down and be careful that's it.

Guys just learn to drive...

also, don´t forget that they are running with highly superior cars, like that GT-R LM

i tried with RS/RS but i can get only 4 laps... the fifth lap would be very slow... my early math tells me that i lost 35-38 seconds per pit, a looong entrance there, so, no RS´ this time... i will try to run with mediuns to make 5 pits, don´t know what i can do though... btw, i think i´m going to finish last in the race aginst AI... 200 a spec points for me, even with RS tires.

 i hate this track

Even overtaking conservatively is leaps ahead of RL racing. When I play in GT Mode (and my overall time is not an issue) I find the best part of the game can be trying to overtake properly, holding station behind the car for a lap or two (depending on the situation obviously), watching his lines through the turns, seeing where I can outbrake him, where I can slip down the inside or something, basically trying to calculate the best opportunity to overtake. Tons of fun :D

Of course the nature of using a time submission system means you're constantly aware of your time and not so much of your position, so one tends to be a bit more aggressive in the overtaking, but yeah, you have to be careful to make it stick.

Incidentally, on the tire wear issue, the AI tends to run their tires into the dark orange/red zone, and they also drive more conservatively, so they aren't as hard on their tires as we all are...might help explain how they can go so long on a single set.

Just my 2 cents :)

Well, I'm busy from now until submission time so I've done one race and I'm submitting, it was craptacular to say the least but it did bring up an interesting problem which I'll let EatsViper discuss here if he so desires. Good luck all 👍

hmm, VTracing, good news to you... as you probably know, you can do this race efectively running with RM/RS and pitting 6 times... going fast if you want... at least that´s what i did testing your car... the loss of handling is not that big, so it might pay off for you... you´re in good shape for this round 👍

today, i want to see if i have time to run at least a stint (the start of the race until the first pit) with some other cars just to see what i´m up against...

Then , be prepared, fasj... :dopey:

Well, for me staying in 3rd without touching or loosing time with the AI has been really hard. I can manage to get a 3 pit stops race with RH/RM, but that means driving much slower (3 to 4 secs) than the AI, meaning that sooner or later, they will smash me from behind or push me into a wall while passing.
I'm looking for a pit strategy which allows me to get rid of the AI. However, that Nissan Fairlady pits every 13 laps, against my 8-9 laps. How is that possible? He starts with Iron tyres? Thought it should me Medium... and rubber.

Made a few laps with the Nissan, and tyre wear is close to my Supra. How come he can stay on track for that long.... and so fast? hmmmmm

I ran about half a race distance last night. My RM/RS lap times are pretty quick, and I can actually get and maintain a lead over the AI. However they only last 6 laps, and my last lap is usually at least a second slower.

I don't think RH/RM is an option for me. I can get 9-10 laps, but I lose at least 4 seconds per lap and it puts me in dangerous situations with traffic.

This is going to require a little more practice tonight, and hopefully I can get one full race distance in w/o any penalties!!! I actually went 13 laps last night w/o a penalty, and then I was going down the main straight and checked my rearview for AI and forgot that the track turned slightly :(

That's weird, in my line-up the Fairlady LM Concept pits every nine laps. Are we talking about the same car? On the same tyres?

I have to say: if I don't win this week I'm going to be very annoyed. I've done the race 4 times to try different things and I've finally got a reasonable strategy (not the one you suggested fasj :sly: ). I've taken 30-odd seconds off my first race time and driven as well as I can.

Given the weight advantage I have here there should be nothing to stop me getting my first win in this season.

But why am I so :nervous: ?

My line-up has two Ford GTs, the Fairlady, the Nissan GT-R and a Corvette.
Both Ford GT pit every 6 laps, the GT-R and the Corvette every 8 laps, and the Fairlady stops on lap 13 and every 9 laps afterwards. Odd...

Hmmm, that is odd.

My line-up is:

Nissan GT-R LM Concept (Pits 10 laps)
Nissan Fairlady Z LM Concept (9 laps)
Pagani Zonda LM Race Car (7 laps?)
Panoz Esperante GTR-1 (7 laps?)
Ford GT LM II (6 laps)

Strange that they should have a different pit strategy depending on the car we are driving.

Well...
Guess what!

I ran out of fuel on lap 33 (I was running with RH, and did my calculations as in my previous RM atempts...)! And went slowly for the pits for a final refuel. I decided: lost almost an hour racing and I would finish it!

And because of that I have a question for eatsviper. We have to complete the 34 laps, right? I just made my best time in this race. Can you guess why?

:indiff: :nervous: :) :scared: :sly:

And, VT, you were right. My GT-R stopped on lap 12 and every 10 laps afterwards, not the Fairlady. The Fairlady stops every 9 laps. probably didn't see it right on the previous race... sorry.

Yes, I think we need clarification from eatsviper4lunch regarding what to do if you get lapped.

Either we classify those who were lapped behind those who were not (which is pretty unfair given that it's determined by the quality of your opposition line-up).

Or, if you know you are going to be lapped once, set your number of laps to 35.

Either way causes difficulties. :(

never thought about been lapped...

hmm, oh well, if that does not heppen here, probbly will happen in HSR, since the AI can only beat us whem it has a highly superior car in a fast track...

i guess we can´t get lapped because that way, been lapped is a good thingm you finish the race earlier... than a guy who is faster and just ahead of the CPU... just a quick example...

i´ll try to get a consistent race, to score some points... maybe try to match last season´s time with this car... but the problem is that last season, curtis was driving, so, tough goal

actually, last season, with +6 of weight, he won this race, so go figure

of course we didn´t have those dream cars, neither the drop weight system, but still, must have been a great race...

anyway, i hope viper gets a look at this lapped thing, before i actually have a full race, because i´m almost sure i´m going to be lapped :grumpy:

YES!

I finally won this stupid thing after 3 hours of trying this morning. It's been my most satisfying GT race so far.

My line up was:

Ford GT LM II
Fairlady Z Concept LM
Zonda LM
McLaren F1 GTR
Esperante GTR-1

It was such a great race, I only won by 5.1 seconds. I was battling the McLaren F1 the whole race, then got out in front of it at the last pit stop. The McLaren was pitting every 7 laps like myself, but the lap after me (If that makes sense).

I just used RM/RM the whole way and pitted on lap 7,14,21,28. I was pulling away from the McLaren at the rate of maybe 1.5 seconds per lap, on the start of my tyres, but he was catching me by about 2 seconds a lap for the last 3 laps of the stint.

and we have a loser :grumpy:

finished my first race ans i was lapped by the mclaren F1, he just passed me, if i was 5 seconds ahead, i would not be lapped...

well, i´ll try again just to get a complete 34 laps, but if i can´t, what do we do? get a 2 minute lap penalty for been lapped? something like that?

setting the race for 35 laps just doesn´t work, i can´t tell if i´m going to get lapped or not... maybe a penalty so...

If you know you'll be lapped just take note of the time when you cross the line and finish the 33rd lap and start the 34th. Then PM me your time with the clock at the end of lap 33 with the +1 lap remark.

That's it that's all case solved. :)
