New and also the returning drivers, take the time to read the rules & settings very carefully. Some values are not the same as before. It's your job to understand everything before jumping into the action, nobody wants to make a fool out of himself because of an invalid time right?? :sly:

So we just do the 9 lap race and send our best total time and the corresponding replay to you?

Yup!

You got it right there Blake.

Just completed my initial run, competition is tough, once you get past them they're never far behind. The BMW Mac seems to get faster each lap, he almost repassed me on lap 7, he came out of nowhere. Great fun with no tire wear, you can drive like you usually wouldn't, not having to worry about eating tires. Good Luck Ya'll!!!

I suck. Can't turn like the other cars, can't brake like the other cars, can *just* run with *some* of the other cars... If you're not hitting the apexes just about perfectly, you're off the track. Good luck passing, there's not much extra grip to this overweight thus over powered blugabuh. This definitely isn't my Altezza from last season. :( Hopefully I'll manage something worthwhile. Can't say I'll be in front of the pack, we'll see.

The cars that wear out their front tires fast will have a decent advantage in qualifying like this, FWIW. Not asking for change, just point out for next season.

Enough whining, more racing... :-P

I hear ya! I'm still trying to hang with them off the line but in my two runs I was running with the last two cars most the race. I don't really see myself in front of the ai at the end of this thing but it certainly is a challege I'm ready to give a shot.

The more seat time I get in this car the better it feels though!

Yeah, they add alot of pressure, very fustrating, but in the long run, it'll be good for me.

[Rant]

There are a whole bunch of things that I'd like to say about this. Somewhat pertaining to the required close proximity of the insanely inferior AI racers with more grip.

[/Rant]

I'll try to leave it at that.

Looks good 👍

I will try and give this a few runs tonight.

Yep, nobody ever said it was easy. :D And for the guys moving up from GT300 to now GT500 you can see the big step clearly between both when it comes to control and the requirement to be alot more smooth. It's just a little adjustment, in close to no time you should master your ride. 👍

I dunno... I'm generally pretty good with control and smoothness... But yes, this most definitely demands it to be anywhere near competitive. I'm not so sure THAT much of it is because of the jump to GT500 rather than the fact that I'm in a pig of a car that's only more of a pig because of the power increase, and one that understeers except for lift throttle oversteer with less grip than the AI to boot. My fault though, I chose the car. It's definitely not what I was thinking when I selected it, I was hoping for something that I could hop in and drive without putting in too much time. I think I would've done better on that front with a car that's less picky to the line taken, but that'll have to wait for next season. :) My paranoia of other things is biting me in the butt, as it almost always does... Blah. Now I just need to figure out how aggressive I will let myself be without considering myself dirty. *sigh* Can I act like I'm AI too? That'll make my brain punish itself so much and I won't get so frustrated that I want to quit.

Heh-heh-heh.Those tricky MR cars...
I used a similar car next season...at the end I began to love it very much because of its balanced tyre wear.Learn the trick,KLR.It's not so bad as it seems.👍

Well, I've quickly gotten... Quicker. I just beat my previous attempt of the qualifying by seven seconds and I can set best laps one second faster than I could before.

Also, I'm pretty lucky this series has just started now, as its the same week my summer holidays have begun, so I can easly fit this in aswell as summer fun! :sly:

EDIT: Do you mind if I post up some qualifying pictures? Just for a little 'o' fun? Thumbnails of course.

Lucky, my free time is non-existant. I have 4 assignments due this week, and two next week. Expect my times to be slow for the next couple of weeks. I’ll have a run of this on Thursday.

Awesome, that gives us PAL folk a chance to see what the NTSC guys are doing. :sly:

Alright, here are some pictures from my latest run. I'll hopefully get them all in order just to show my progression through the run.

Enjoy!

Well, so much for this season not taking up as much time as the other ones... The races maybe, but this RM vs RS thing for 9 laps is not my cup of qualification. Once through the first lap I'm fine, but getting through that sea of idiots is pathetic. So many restarts. Definitely not something I can do in an hour or two of play and come away with something I respect enough to submit. I don't care if I'm fast or not, I'd just like to enjoy doing it, and currently, I'm not. When the actual race comes around I can choose to be on softer tires to get the stupid AI out of the way, or rather, harder tires to wait for them to spread out a bit before I pounce on them one by one. This RM vs RS stuff for what's normally a super sticky one on one's self, is really bugging me.

Seen 1'15.2xx for a fastest lap. Nothing worth submitting, IMO, and I'm at least 2.5 hours into this already. If we were doing the hotlap, I'd probably manage something I'd be ok with submitting in an hour or two maximum. I'm sure there'll be at least another 2.5 hours into this before I'm satisfied, and I really, really should NOT be doing this.

The Motul Pitwork is a joy to drive .. as usual .. Del has completed his 'insurance' set of 9 laps .. and is confident he can improve .. mostly on the chicane before the hill .. { my best lap was 2 seconds faster than my slowest and i wont be happy untill i get them all within a second { taking into account the 'traffic' } ....... although he has noticed Ricky is in a 'fitter' position .. looks like it'll be tough to get a podium here .

Well, I have to say this is the most fun I have had at 9am with my trousers on!:D

With the AI set to +10 and running RS tyres, they take off like scalded cats, and the only way of catching them is drafting, drifting and Hale Mary passing moves into the chicane!
It's a total and complete departure from the normal JGTC style of driving, and on first blush.......it is fun! Difficult, but fun!

Managed a fastest lap of 1'14.7xx

Neil

You'll never get me posting times .. Del regards Ballsonthewall as a 1st class racer .. and that 01:14.7xx is now my benchmark .. though getting there will be tough ... maybe too tough ? :indiff:

Oh, 1'14.7xx, not far ahead of my best lap of 1'14.8xx. I only managed a 1'14 two or three times though, don't know about you though.

Don't feel bad KLR my best is a 1'15'.2xx as well but thats only due to drafting... I just hate the lines they take and the fact that they don't give an inch even if your 3/4 the way past them... School after work today so hopefully on Wednesday we can try and break into the 14's.

Oh well! I suppose I should break the bad news.

Just done a run that is pretty much at my limit! shaved 5 seconds off my previous race time and got a fast lap of............

1'14.1xx!👍 👍 :D :D :D

Without drafting that is, I was P1 by the chicane on L1, and only lost the lead to the MacLaren for about 300 metres on L7/L8. (As Andy says, he just seems to get faster and faster every lap)
He drafted me on the SF straight and then lost it on the second corner!

Pretty sure this will be my submission time, already.

Much fun!

Neil
