Yearh - but only half the L2 cache ;)

Mother of Peal, thats a good comp. Ill trade you my soul for that! :D

Nice setup, only one problem. You're gonna be waiting forever to get that card, bud. I think it will be worth it, but they still haven't released the card for sale. It's on resaler-hold, if that makes sense. I tried to purchase one in July, when they were "supposedly" released for sale. I found a few online stores that said they had it, so I tried to purchase. Now, over a month and a half later, I'm receiving emails saying that the earliest I could get a regular X800 XT Platinum, would be the end of September. And, I'm not so sure that they won't push back the date again.

Should've gone for the 6800 Ultra...

Anyway, what was the final cost?

Nope.. I've touched one (of several) my local PC pusher had in the store. At the time they'd all be pre'ordered, and I didn't have a go until now.. So it's out there, and I'm looking at a 14 days wait :(

Well, unfortunately for me, you're much closer to a distributor than I. Of course, the US is technologically late in recieiving computer components.

It's annoying that the X800Platinum is out of stock everywhere in my city if you consider that I live just an hour away from the ATI head office :irked:

...*speechless*

Will you marry me Fler?

It's no good.. It's the same old story that'll end in tears - You'll beat me, lock me up in the kitchen and spend all day drinking beer and playing Minesweeper on my FX53 box...

hey akira, my cocnut monkey pwns pcgamers!

Nice setup there Flerb.

So, when you e-mailed me about the pair of 250GB drives saying "Who can resist 0.5TB?", the answer was you?

I couldn't quite stretch to an FX-53...

Hehe.. Still a couple of hundred gigs left on the server ;) - I demand SPEED from my local drives - not space

And 150Gb in the box is plenty I think ;)

Nice hardware there..... :) How many SATA drives are you getting? Considering a SATA RAID?

So....you plan on operating half of Denmark with that puppy?

Rock on man.....

2 x 74Gb 10000 rpm for a raid 0 setup...

 Nice! I'm currently running a RAID0 on a couple of 120's for my system drive. I love the cost/performance ratio, however, if I really wanted to get crazy.....I think I'd drop for a nice SCSI controller that's compatible with PCI-X and really get serious.

Congrats again....!

Thanks again :D

I misquoted you in my previous post... I suck...

Anyway - SCSI is nice, but you'll have to dig deep to find a SCSI setup that'll beat a raid 0 with 2 10000 rpm drives (especially now that the Raptors has gotten TCQ as the SCSI drives has..) For a desktop - I don't think that the amount needed would be justifiable....
