I turn of the TCS and AMS, then i just do a sharp turn and i go sideways. Sometimes i make a light turn one way and snap it back the other way and get sideways using the rebound of grip. You can just cheat and use the e-brake though.

lots of practice...............and a wheel, lol. we don't get it perpindicular, just pretty sideways. and also, undo the caps lock please. I really don't pay attention to anything when I drift, I just.....drift. plain and simple. an no words with -izzie or anything like that. I have been drifting for like 9-12 months I think. peace.

yeah just practice and check some of cudas setups, a good starter is cuda's FC setup

I disagree, His FC settings are good for experienced drifters. You should take a stock FR car, Full suspension, brake balance, all the drivetrain mods, sim tires, and then turn ASM and TCS off. This is the best way to learn, then when your comfortable with this, and understand the base level charecteristics of the car, you can try other tire and HP combinations IMO. ;)

Hi bobby drift,

Welcome to GTPlanet.net Forums. I hope you have read the Acceptance User Policy because many moderators enforce the rules. I just thought I would warn you.

As for the videos, you can look at the top of the forum to find a Drift FAQs that Ethix101 made that contains many links to different guides and videos to watch.

I hope you enjoy your stay here! :)

Caps lock is not cruise control for cool. Turn it off. Secondly, do please check out the zillions of quality how-to guides already dotted around the GTP forums, as there are some really good ones.

Welcome to GTP bobby!!!
getting sideways is a matter of practice, patience, and spinning out.....ALOT!!! You'll learn after spinning out of control, hitting walls, etc. a few times. That is, if you set a car to drift and use sims.

Or you could try this: Set up a car around 400-500 hp fully tuned (the Altezza, Clio Sport, and Elise are good starters), medium slick to slick tires for starters, set the ASM to 1 or 2, and the TCS to 5.
Set up your suspension REALLY stiff with a 4.5/2.5 camber and -2.0 toe in the rear. Now pick a track like Deep Forest, and tear around it like you are grip racing EXCEPT you want to throw yourself into corners REALLY hard.

You won't get sideways, but this gives you practice in drifting. Every lap, it will get easier and easier to do this, so roll back the ASM, then TCS, then start lowering the grip quality of your tires until you feel comfortable high-speed drifting with no traction.

A little time-consuming, but worth it if you want to drift like you would see in the videos pepole post on this site. Good Luck!!! :sly:

getting the car sideways is easy, its keeping it there thats the trick. Alot of people ask me "What technique do you use?" well. The answer I give them all is, I dont have one. If its to consecutive turns, I'll intertia drift then, if the corner calls for a braking entry, than I do that, if it requires lift off oversteer, then I do that. I probably use every technique out there on a single lap around the track. Except for dirt drop, I dont like that one, I dislike touching dirt, lol. Its all just a matter of practice man. Get a good car setup, and just spend time out on the track. Experience is the best teacher of all. Learn to feel out the car, and know exactly what its going to do. Getting sharper angles is just a matter of knowing your cars limits, and what you have to do to push them as far as they will go.

Hah, show me a video and I'll believe you then. I've heard a lot of people on this forum brag about drifting with no countersteer, but I've never actually seen anyone do it. Not even Thio, since you mention it, but I don't hold it against him because he doesn't brag about being able to do it. We're talking about rear-wheel drive here too, for reference. AWD drifting is pretty much self-explanatory and doing that with no countersteer basically intuitive and can be done with little practice.

P.S. - Don't take it too seriously, it's nothing personal, but I always jump on people when they make a post that obviously only has one purpose which is to make themselves look good.

sure.. but I don't have a ps2.. I can only show you on GT2..

RWD with no countersteer isn't that hard man. I'm surprised you can't do it yourself.

thanks man.. appreciate it :)

I actually disagree. I started drifting with no TCS or ASM with a 700 hp FD3S on normals ( I was a dumbass back then because I thought it was faster....=P).
Well, after I found this site, I saw Cuda's setup and learned how to drift pretty well within 2 days. I think sims are perfect for learning how to drift because they are the hardest to control. Once you get used to those, you get used to them all.
