For AAA games I think it's been about 10 years. I feel like it really started in sports games with FIFA ultimate team which started in 2009.

Agreed on the first part though.
Ultimate Team is seperate to FIFA though. Shoehorning MTX into a full priced game to the point of it being a necessity to enjoy for most people is pretty rare I think.

GT7 could have done something similar to Ultimate Team which would have been preferable.

I want to make GT7 a game in which you can enjoy a variety of cars lots of different ways, and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again.
Kaz, if that was your intention, then you should have launched the game with those features. Instead, you can't even tell us your solution to the grind (because you probably don't know) and ask us to think about the long-term. I didn't throw down $60 so I could think about how good the game will be in two years.

Additionally, Kaz's mantra lately has been to get a wider amount of people excited about the love of cars and of the industry. But adding so much grind and indirectly pushing us to spend money to even be able to drive most of the game's cars does the opposite. GT Sport was going in a good direction as far as being able to obtain all cars except for the rarest ones in a timely fashion, but GT7 has either a philosophy of elitism or of financial predation, depending on how charitably you wish to look at PD's rationale for these decisions. And neither will turn younger players and people who haven't really played GT before into new GT fans.

Is it a great game? Yes the driving physics are greatly improved and the graphics are better, but I can find other driving games that have better physics and similar graphics without the "game" part of it being completely broken. We have a terrible career mode and completely broken online play. I can go 6 or 7 other places and get a better racing product. Gran Turismo had a lot of credit with me cause of their history but I'm certainly not going to extend them anymore after this.
My answer to this is: BMW VGT with racing tyres at the Nurburgring (full course) start at dawn 10x time of day randomised weather favourite tunes bass loud do 6 laps... that's my prescription for "sheer driving pleasure"

Im not going crazy on the game and have 88 cars in 14 days even deleted a few (No rallying for me eww)

This gentleman has to understand that we love Gran Turismo, but we are not stupid. He says " In GT7 I would like to have users enjoy lots of cars and races even without microtransactions". Really? And how should we buy the cars?
I hope no one in GT community buys credit online, this the only way to change this absurd situation.

I think that statement should have been released at the very moment that they found out there was an issue with the update. Then they should have followed up with more status update as the fix dragged on to let people know what was going on. You can't go quiet for nearly 35hrs and then come back to say to stay "watch this space y'all". While I fully intend to keep playing the game for hopefully a long while, the way they handled this whole this was really poor and I expected more. They have got to do better with their communication.

Why not have a Payout button that angry players can press anytime they want to get that dopamine hit they crave? I swear, all this talk about payouts makes players sound less like racers and more like slot machine addicts at a casino.

I'm not a fan of MTs because they just encourage that addictive behavior, but you can always just completely ignore them.

I realize that to some players, Gran Turismo is just Car Pokemon. Gotta catch em all. Maybe a true Arcade Mode would help fill that need to have everything, right now. Some us still like the progression. Too bad the patience level of Kaz/PD and of the "fans" are completely different. I guess it doesn't help that the game has a car collection screen like Forza.

I don't want you to grind same race so I lower the payout, well it's still faster than anything else, well who cares, new events coming sooonish, for now buy my money now
That's what I hear, at least
Personally I finished everything on gold, even the broken missions, there is just no content for me to play, I don't particularly care about collecting cars, but there is simply nothing to do, I couldn't care less about mp, so doing same races over and over for crap pay is kind of pointless

Almost like the game & its advertising touts collecting as a large focus point.

Well apart from Nerfing payouts for " His " reasons I don't see anything positive about the rest of his " Statement " in fact quite the opposite , for me the only option has been to play the game and enjoy the content even the crap AI Cars that brake 2 or 3 times in corners , the chase the rabbit races e.t.c .

But please for the love of God give us a Offline Save System , it doesn't even have to be connected too online at all , just a save system that will allow us to play the game we paid for should the next or future update once again create another Cluster**** like this one .

Could there be a way that lets you play play arcade races if the servers were down again? Could they not let us play offline and sync the saves when back online. I thought GT sport let us do that or was this a one off where they blocked access?

A few small changes would make a difference.

Allow the selling of many duplicate cars you get in this game over time.
Make the roulette just cars or credits to win and no invitations or parts.
Increase credit funds for races with more than 10 laps or custom races so you could have more variety to grind for money if you really wanted a car and on custom races.
If they do really have to keep the 'credit bundles' micro transactions in then maybe reduce the prices they seem very high in comparison to the price of the game or just have a set price per car.
Turn around the used cars/legends more frequent and reduce some of the prices, they seem quite high for some used cars especially.

People are forgetting that it's a relatively new game. It's not meant to be perfect out of the box. It hasn't even had its first FREE content update yet.
This is literally what's wrong with the current gaming market I think. I guess I'm just used to having a game be complete as the publisher intented on the day it came out because there wasn't another option besides making a sequel...

I agree that patience is needed here, and I am curious to see what events show up, but his statement, while definitely offering some hope, also seems to imply that a lot of the things people are complaining about are here to stay.

Video games aren't people. You can be a relatively "insert any profession" and be given leeway cause you have to gain experience somehow. People shouldn't be paying money to be the beta testers for console games.

I have to say I had seen these complaints about other games but didn't give much thought to them cause I only really play racing games. Now I know what the gaming community means by buyers being testers.

He also mentioned something about real life car prices reflected in game. When the game was launched it was supposed to be a more realistic price tag to match real life. But in all honesty it was obviously so the cars are expensive as they can be so we purchase with real cash. The cost to get cars and time to get credits sucks because as soon as you freely unlock cars you then need to spends loads to upgrade them in order to be competitive against AI in certain races. It’s very hard to save up in this game.

I keep seeing my credits dip them rise them dip again. And all I’ve done is upgrade the cars as cheapest as I can to compete for wins. Now with Kaz mentioning the prices in real vs in game he mentions not wanting it to be the same. If that’s what I think he’s saying is perhaps they will drops the cost for some vehicles. Unless I’ve mistaken what he meant.

It’s not the only solution if so but it would be good to have the cars reduced by a good amount and also we need some races where the payouts are high enough and less time consuming and to not be one car one race.

They need to spread them out across multiple races so we don’t keep racing the same track over and over. If we can get say 5 minutes racing earning x amount but it’s also like that on multiple races then it wouldn’t be such a boring grind. Like in GTS doing Blue Moon Bay over and over was horrible. That type of payout should have been available in several races so we can find some joy earring X per H but on different tracks with the same credits and time with different cars.

Also I appreciate Kaz shedding some light on this silly situation. I personally believe it’s a Sony higher ups thing. But I have faith PD will find a silver lining at some point.

Has it though? I'm pretty sure the slashed event payouts are still in the game, are they not? How is that me trying to "continue the vitriol"?

So the entire forum yesterday was just whining and not genuinely concerned with legitimate complaints about how a full priced Sony game is catered towards microtransactions? I guess the press talking about this situation is just whining?

And mate, you can give them all the solutions you want, they won't care, we've seen them with this very update. Did they revert the event payouts after complaints? Nope.
You chase your tail, Im chasing a viper ;-)

A racing game is a grind, doing the same basic thing over and over again, just like life. I would not mind if the AI was competitive, but who wants to repeat the same prebaked races that aren't a challenge. It's mind numbingly boring.
