Nissan has unveiled the production version of the AO-Extender solar panel add-on for the Sakura EV. Launch date is yet TBA.

While sturdy enough to be driven with the panel extended I wonder if the additional drag, wind noise and reduced visibility really are a worthwhile trade-off.

Can't say I'm a big fan of Kei cars, but I recently got to drive one and I liked it.

How about adding a would-have-been Kei car? The Smart car has a Kei-complying version in Japan, but it could have come a lot sooner in the form of the Mercedes-Benz NAFA:

This concept from the 80's is very close in size to the first-gen Smart, but gloriously boxy - and look at those awesome doors!

Got to check out the Redust Safari and Grand Safari Jimny conversions today. Pretty awesome overall and you can choose individually which parts you want and which ones to skip. And yes, thy have the Euro engine and the 5-door isn't a Kei anymore, but I found them to cool to not share here.
