Anyone finding that when joining a lobby thats already bagan the race, then waiting for them to return to lobby. 9 tiimes out of 10 it returns you to the gran turismo home page bit.

Yeah...recently had this happen for the first time ever actually in a shuffle race lobby. Was waiting for the race to finish then when it did there was just a black screen then I was at the GT Home Page again. :boggled:

Also there's quite enough threads on this I think...

Used to happen to me, until I hooked my PS3 up with a LAN cable instead of using wireless.

That was a good decision.
I've never used a wireless connection for the PS3, and I've never had the acute "online difference" like other people describe, nor any of the connection or grid starting problems that other people talk about.

Getting kicked back to the GT Life screen definitely sounds like some kind of connection issue. (Unless I'm wrong and it's some new network problem with the new network, I don't know.)

Some people say clearing your network cache in GT5 is helpful.
Others say it's a good idea also to reboot your ps3 before online racing.

I say the best things you can do is

First, if you're using wireless, switch to a hard wired network cable.
We use a Cat 6 network cable.

If you have a cord from the DSL wall outlet to your router, make sure that's in good condition, not very old, and not being pinched anywhere.

Make sure your router is in good condition too. They DO wear out, corrode, etc.

Check your wall outlet. If the jack gets corroded (green - oxidization), it's going to cause lower connection. You can't always see it well what's going on inside there.
The more humid it is in your house over time, the more likely it is to happen. But it just happens over time because it does - it's natural. If your wall jack is older than you know, it might be time to replace it.

The problem with this corrosion is that at the start of the degradation, it could cause INTERMITTENT lowering of connection. In other words, sometimes you can check your connection time, and it'll be just fine so you think your connection is good & fast. But intermittently, it could be shorting and causing the connection to be slow or even stop for moments at a time. And you may not even realize it, except that your having troubles & you don't know why.
Until the corrosion gets so bad your connection times are always lower, and finally you're barely connecting at all & calling the technician to find out why.

I started a thread on this...

Mine does the above until I reinstall game data. Weird but works for a few weeks, then it dies again.

Yeah, wireless is definitely no good. But I have a fast cable connection, and it is always happening! Also, imo, if you have connection issues, you will be randomly kicked, not always at the end of the race...

Actually, I also have that problem almost every time, and I usually play shuffle races. Could it be a shuffle race bug?

I m using a Wireless system and have hardly any problems with online racing. Connection tends to be good. But that might be due to my Router beeing just within a meter of my PS3.

I'm having this problem too. Also had a freeze in game and a room of about 8 players all suddenly disappear after a lag screen glitch thing, leaving just me in the room. May all be unrelated.

Definitely a shuffle race issue see this thread:

oh and!!!
If you enter a shuffle race and the race is going on, when the race is over if you are not in the race you will get booted from the room by the system. its not anyone kicking you out. so try to enter shuffle races when the race is not going on. Usually people will wait a couple minute in between just for this

Is that the issue you're experiencing?

The distance may make a difference... but a hard wire connection is better anyway. If it's so close, why not use a wire?
You say you don't have any problems... But are you someone who claims that there's a huge difference with online physics? Because that would be telling.

I just wonder if people who claim there's such a huge difference of "online physics" aren't just experiencing latency issues that have nothing to do with game physics. (Either that, or they're comparing their experience in Aspec, with a bunch of aids on, to an online game with all aids restricted off and grip set to real, and they just don't know about these things. Which is just plain ignorance. Of course they're going to see a huge difference. When I compare practice area with all aids off & grip set to real & tire wear on, I see very little difference between that and in my lobby. But some people claim they see a big difference. It has to do with different latency, what else could explain why I don't see as much a difference as some people? The only thing that can be varying is connection... I don't think someone else has different game physics in their copy of gt5.)

The problem of getting booted to the GTLife screen after an online race ends, may or may not have to do with connection issues.
But troubleshooting potential connection issues is a good place to start in any case, I should think.
