Just one question.

When on the main menu, is your screen supposed to jump?

I can't decide wheather it is supposed to or if it's a fault. Everytime a press a button the screen sort of warps or jumps. The game play is fine.
 
I never beat Killzone. I got to chapter 10 and it got super hard and I gave up. Maybe I'll go back and try to finish it if i can find my memory card. Still haven't opened to the case. But sounds like most of you guys are enjoying it. Still it seems to be the biggest PS3 release since MGS4 and it seems people are finding reasons to not like it.
 
Ir's not COD so COD fans won't like it, It's not Halo so Halo fans hate it, It;s a FPS so people who don't like FPS don't like it.........You can NEVER please all the people all the time and the bigger the game the louder the complaints are. KZ2 has been complained about since it's first CGI footage was shown about 3-4 years ago and since then the hype has been building and the cue of people who want to see it fail has been building LOL
Time of course will tell and how big the online community grows over the next year but I recon KZ2 is going to be sitting prety much at the top of it's genere for quite some time. There are a few nigles but none detract from your enjoyment and neither are these problems unpachable, Looking at how quicklu the first patch hit to deactivate the bots due to a rankinhg cheat the dev team are on the ball!
I think the main issues are not with the game but with the players, COD4 has been most FPS fans staple diet for over 12 months now and because KZ2 dosnt adsactly match the way the controls work and how the player reacts to control imputs (KZ2's characters feel more weighty) then of course it's not simply a case of KZ2's different because of these things but it's wrong or worse because of these things....These comments were coming out before the demo was out, during the demo and now in the first few days of release.......It's quite funny to hear As allways those with an axe to grind shout much louder than those who a re happy with something on the internet thus you allways get a distorted view of things, I personaly like to praise things that deserve it online sinply to balance things up a little, and KZ2 is certainly deserveing of alot of praise!
 
The intro to this game still amazes me every time I see it. I can't figure out if it's pre-rendered or not though? Because the game looks stunning, but the intro just has that extra bit of 'finish' to it. I can't quite figure it out :confused:
 
Well I've now ranked up to a level where I've got a few specials, First up is the medic which is quite good at keeping a fire team up to strengh but your seriously exposed trying to medic downed men in the middle of a fire fight! weapons wise I've unlocked the shotgun, SMG and suport gun.....and yeah the suport gun can rip a squad apart very quickly though the acuracy is prety poor even knelt down looking through the sights if you use anything but short bursts. last up is 2 medals, one that doubles the amount of amo I spawn with, very handy and the other medal gives me 2 grenades instead of one every spawn.
Starting to see some of the higher ranked classes coming through, the guys who are running round as snipers seem for the most idiots and usualy spend most of the time dieing and not really uterlising there characters skills plus not seen any of them use special secondary badges so my guese is they used the bot rank up cheat before it was stopped and have not realy learned the game through playing it LOL
 
Question: when you exit a game before the end of the round, does it save the points and badges you earned or are they gone?

It saves points, kills, deaths, etc. I'm not sure about ribbons and medals though.

Has anyone else here reached general yet? Or am I the only one with the sniper?
 
No you exit before the end and you don't get your points, it's a git if you have to get the phone or go out but it dose mean rooms stay full rather than people leaving mid game if there loseing, they simply stay and fight harder. I had my first taste of spwn killers on KZ2 tonight, usualy it winds me up and I'll just leave the match, but with points on the line the team to a man let rip, and what a fire fight that was! As the tide eventualy turned due the the maps bot guns put in place around spawn areas to stop spawn killing we massacered them and I got to see what my newly aquired heavy gun dose to 6 helgast at 20 yards......not a prety sight LOL
 
You don't get them, I had a lot of network errors the other night and still having network problems today :( and lost sooooo many points.

Still had a game a t a mates with a good connection, My goodness the mutliplayer is much nippier than single player when the connection is good :).

it seems I am only playing with a half deck at mo...

In June I will be getting 50mbps fibre optic internet, can't wait!
 
Am I the only one beginning to find the single player game a bit boring once you've played through it a little bit? All that seems to be happening is that I'm popping out from behind cover to try and aim at the Helghans and they're instantly hitting me without fail. Just now I had to restart an entire section because I popped up from behind a crate having moved there in cover, only to see a Helghan appear hundreds of feet into the distance. I tried to shoot him a few times, but somehow, through my bullets, he managed to aim a rocket directly at my head and I was instantly killed by his pin point accurate RPG attack. Now, this was at a distance where I needed a sniper rifle to actually hit the guy. Yet his rocket made it through loads of crates and bits of the scenery without moving an inch and smacked me straight in the face. I couldn't even run away as my character was in zoom aim and it took him too long to come out of it.

Anyone else getting the same feeling from single player or is it just me? I loved the original for it's variety of locations and interesting firefights but this one, now that I've played a few more locations, seems to be a case of

'run somewhere -> enemies at a massive distance (who can hit you perfectly but your bullets miss, even when burst firing) -> move on a bit more -> enemies at a massive distance -> guy with an RPG -> move on a bit more -> enemies at mid range but with grenade launchers -> move on a bit more -> some swearing -> fancy graphics -> etc. etc.'

The medium range and close quarters firefights that made up most of the early parts of the game (the bits indoors, for example) are absolutely spectacular and work really well, but the outdoors long range stuff is really, really boring for me. I think if you could carry a rifle and a sniper rifle, just as back up, it would be soooo much better, but you can't.

I'm currently stuck out in some god awful desert area and I can't wait to leave the bloody place.

Nope, I did that by out sniping them (I love the sniping in this game!) it's the bit where you're on the bridge trying to get onto the train. I think it's so difficult because there is very little cover and 2 walkways full of crates for the Helghans to hide on. All you have it some poorly constructed columns.

Plus they have 2 RPG wielding maniacs, one on each platform so they have you covered from two angles, and you've just got an assault rifle. You pop up from cover to try and shoot the RPG guys, and they just fire a rocket in your direction. Run away from rocket, pop up and they know where you are again. It's doing my nut in! :lol:

Also, why the bloody hell do they have infinite rockets while I'm limited to 3 per pick up?
 
They are getting them passed to them lol.

Am trying to remember what i did here, to be honest I can't remember, its just a hard game I suppose.
 
On the whole, it's not that hard as long as you're clever and don't just run in all guns blazing. In some places it's very easy, infact. But the large outdoors sections really drag it down IMO, and there are a lot of them so it's beginning to get very annoying and a bit boring for me. I might just carry a sniper rifle on me at all times and keep my pistol for close up action, see if that works. 👍
 
I enjoyed the outside areas but each to their own. I stuck with the SMG and did a lot of sprinting to cover and flanking.

I think it's the only part of the game that's CGI. Everything else uses the game's engine.

I'm only at 25% but I've yet to find a section that I would call boring. The last truly great FPS for me was COD4 (R2 was a total bust) and KZ2 surpasses COD4 when it comes to intensity, dynamic and just about everything else that I could think of. Perhaps the only thing that I find COD4 was better is that each locations is unique and different but it was in context to the story. But K2's location is strictly Helghan and GG's art director and map designer made a good call to not make drastic changes from one map to another. And I'm on my third attempt (first stop at 10%, second at 18%).
Like some else before me, in the longe range shootout, instead of holding a single position, this game encourages you to become more agrresive- run, cover and shoot. Never have I used the melee buttons as much as I used in KZ2.

There is also nothing wrong with having friendly controls. I mentioned it earlier that both FIFA and PRO EVO have identical button mappings. Why do you think that was?

I also think that It is time 'they' realised that not all of us play with our thumbs, I don't use mine at all. So, because of the way I hold my pad, and the way the controller is mapped, I will never be able to fully utilise the crouch button. And no, I am not going to change the way I hold my pad, I've always held it this way, and until now, I have never had any problem doing so. :grumpy:

As for the stance thing, I have always rated any shooting game that allows you to have all three stances. And if I was to look back at all the FPS that I've enjoyed and played to death, being able to lie on the floor has been a big deciding factor in whether I like the game or not. It seems totally illogical to think that you cannot lie on the floor and shoot someone.
 
I played through a bit last night. Not sure which level it was, but the part you shoot a bunch of Helgans across a street, then the building catches fire and it falls apart was the best destruction I have seen in a video game, in a long time. :D

I'm curious, how do you play without using your thumbs?
 
Yeah me too how do you not use your thumbs on the "thumb sticks"? Your the only person I've heard of make this complaint and I'm guenuinly confused as to how you use your pad. I do understand the suthpaw problem on some games but thumbs? As for the prone position being used? allways prefered it myself but it depends on the map desighn, an ISA guy prone would practicaly be invisable on KZ2 maps and theres more than enough cover for the kneel stance to give you enough cover.

I have yet to play anything but the demo, but you just described every single FPS I have ever played. So, what's the problem again?

I think he complaint about the situation when you are behind the cover, you have to at the same time press AND hold L2 with you middle finger to stay behind the cover, L1 with your point finger to aim down the sight, and push the L3 up to sneak out and shot. If we can press L2 once to "stick" to the cover or to go to kneel stance instead of having to hold it, it would make the game even more enjoyable IMO.

Anyway, still waiting for my copy from amazon.:sly:
