I wonder if this is why I had a more successful night online last night (post patch) than previously. Perhaps. It was certainly more enjoyable.

maybe it's in my head, but with the new patch the controller feels MUCH better(I know the patch had a controller fix i really notice it), i am able to make the small adjustments i was having problems with before. Definately a lot of fun. I got sucked into the multi-player this weekend after finishing the campaign. LOTS of fun, but as with all FPS games, on certain maps there are those few area's where all the confrontation takes place. And this is where people are blind firing weapons and lobbing grenades all over the place. Lots of fun, but i only played 1 or 2 games with people who wanted to work together. The rest was a wild free-for-all. I don't ever seem able to be online with any of the GTP clan guys, would definately give the game a better dynamic with some actual squad/team-work. :)👍

I'm still totally stuck at the part where you're meant to get onto the train. Everytime I pop out from cover, I scan around to see if there are any Helghast nearby. I see none, and then one pops out from behind cover and is able to hit me instantly. So I have to get back into cover so I don't die. Then he gets back into cover, so I move while he's not looking. I pop up in the new position and he instantly locks onto me and the bullets start hitting again.

I was hoping this game wouldn't suffer from 'Battlefield Bad Company' syndrome but it apparently does, or at least it does after the patch. It never seemed so bad before. It's annoying me since I really want to get to the next part!

what difficulty are you playing on? I played through Veteran this weekend. They definately have much better aim. The hardest part for me was when you're actually on the train, and there's a tank involved, that was annoying, and then the last stage was quite frustrating, but if you're not up to it, i won't spoil it. It definately takes some time to get used to it, but if you aren't enjoying yourself, don't force it. If it's not fun, wuts the point?

Don't worry, there's a much worse part once you're on the train. I could barely beat it on normal difficulty.

So last night I got into top 6% got 2nd trophy for that!!! Can't wait to get my 4th and Final Trophy.

I think im about 51% in trophies, or something like that. Anyone going for perfect 100%?

Well, I got into the train in the end, took me a few attempts, but I got there. I'm guessing the difficult bit people were talking about on the train was the tank bit? I ran out of rockets trying to fend off the Helghast troops, so backed off and picked them off one by one before just legging it past the tank

I've got into the foundry now, took out the big guy with the electric gun (Fairly easy actually!) and I'm now marching round electrocuting everything that moves :D

Yeah, it was the part with the tank. Took me at least 5 tries.

I LOVE the electricity gun. It's such a shame you never get to use it again, especially not online.

That part with the Tank was PISSING ME OFF!!! It took me 5-6 tries on Veteran. Did you try throwing grenades at them? only to have the movement/momentum of the train have it rolling back towards you? I know i did before i learned my lesson :dunce:, you had to cook them first. The thing about the tank/train is that the Helghast KEEP coming until the Tank is destroyed, if i would have known that i would have quickly taken the guys out and hurried to RPG it. I kept taking them out and taking my time, only to grab the RPG and have 4-5 more Helghast guys taking me down in no time. But when there's a will, there's a way. :)👍

The electric gun is awesome, especially on bots. Try using it on one of the Big spiders though...:ouch:

Oh, i wondered why the grenades were doing that. I don't think that makes sense, physically - if you throw the grenades they should go forward normally, just like if you jump while on an airplane you won't fly towards the back of the plane.

Yeah, there are a lot of missions where enemies spawn forever until you get something done. The worst is on the last mission. You'll see.

I tried that, it didn't work and I ran out of rockets so you know what I did? Killed whatever turned up, then sprinted past the tank. Worked a treat!

No it makes sense because the wind has an affect on the grenades, the game designers specifically put those effects in for realism, and its not like its a plane completely seperated from the outside atmosphere. They also use this effect on Sev, if you'll notice on that level that if you try to sprint while on the outside of the train, it is alot more difficult because of the air resistance.

Currently working on doing all the missions without dying. At the moment I have all single player trophies except Iconoclast, Field Agent, Heroic Survivor, and Untouchable. I have 2 more missions to go without dying.

PROTIP: you don't have to beat a whole mission without dying but only each section, which makes it mega easier.

Heroic Survivor worries me.

Well it's happened, KZ2 just decended into complete idiocy! I think it could be the "improved" controls, that or everyone just got a free packet of anphetermenes from the goverment. I've just jumped into half a dozen games, all of which were.....well "frag fests" is the best way to describe it! people on mass just charge at each other guns blazeing, the odd voice can be heard on the coms shouting "can anyone hear me?" whilst on mass both sides just cut each other down, respawn and run at each other again! Even the odd person pulling a flanking manouver then proceeds to run head long into the fray, KZ2 just turned into halo for me! and I HATE IT! There is an obvious reason or 2 for this sudden switch from tactical to run and gun, firstly it's childrens hour......secondly the maps bar 1 or 2 just make it impossible to do anything but run at the enemy, plus the missions such as search and destroy throw both teams headlong at each other, and as the clock ticks down this just becomes more enthersised.
I really have just had to turn the game off and I'm seriously contemplating trading it in, it's a fantastic game baring the way online has decended into anarchy. At the top of this post I mentioned the control improvement being partialy responsable for this, my thoughts are that all the run and gun jokeys who moaned the controls were to laggy/heavy have basicly made the devs patch them so thee faster....this simply has led to the ability to shoot people easier and faster and as such has speeded the game flow up and ruined an otherwise distinctive factor of the game. I know I shouldn't but I'm praying SOCOM really shines in it's stratergy elements as I may just be swapping over to the other side of the fence to see what colour the grass is.

Try joining a server with 16-24 people, much less mayhem over there, and a refuge for people who hate what you describe. :)

I'm guessing I'm on the last level on the game now, I just spent about an hour trying to work my way forwards to the doors and a Helghast troop whacked me in the back of the head with a gun when I got to the end. ****ing idiotic level design. I had to work very hard not to put my controller through the screen when it set me back to where I was an hour previous due to some ****'s bad programming and not giving me a checkpoint.

What a ****ing joke. Who the **** thought that was a good idea?

Why the **** do they keep respawning the enemies anyway? It's a modern game, I thought that kind of **** went out the window in at least 2006. It's piss poor game design.

Theres a thread on the KZ2 forum asking for a "no or limited respawn" game mode to be added as a lot of people are noticeing the run and gun mentality and are really not likeing it, adding this type of game mode would improve things greatly as well as bringing back the bots.......having read the thread over there and seeing thats theres a chance this could be implimented I'm inclined to hold onto the game in the hope things get sorted. what I also spoted was this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7hllYWpgD8 An auto aim bug which kind of explains alot, namely why everyones suddenly gone rambo and why I can get shot in the face at 100meters by someone running at full sprint........yeah that happens quite a lot at the moment. Going to jump ship to SOCOM come the weekend but I'll hold onto KZ2 for clan stuff and if they return bot matches and hopefully a no respawn or limited respawn mode.
This isn't a dig at KZ2 it's a dig at people who play FPS as a run and gun game, to be fair if thats how they want to play then theres nothing wrong with it, I just don't want to play run and gun, I'm too old and my knees hurt LOL

Ofcourse there is nothing to stop you from hosting your own game with the Tactician class and grenades disabled...

I feel you pain, i was playing on Veteran and that section when you're making your way through the barracades (taking out the ATAC first) was a PAIN!. They keep coming it's ridiculous. But with patience you can get through it. It seems you have to kill them, to where there's a point you can keep moving forward, little by little.

Now i FULLY agree with Hereward on the online comments. It's so annoying. I have yet to play with a team in a tactical manner, or for team-work in general. It has become a halo style run/gun lob grenades and rocket launcher fest. Everyone jams into these tiny rooms/areas where both factions meet and all hell breaks loose. Half the time you are blocked by other team-mates so you can't escape if you wanted to since everyone is jamming in behind you. I never got too deep into Socom, because of the wait times, but when you do get in, the gameplay has a pace that i prefer better.

I only played 2 games yesterday before i stopped enjoying it. But i was able to capture the propaganda speaker and deliver it with ease. Noone seemed to care about the objective, only getting lots of kills.

Despite how annoying the game is, it gets even better looking as it goes on. Took a few photos of my favourite bits;

And when the 'ship' came down. And when the nuke went off. Simply stunning! It definitely shows off what the PS3 can do!

Been playing on smaller servers tonight (max 16 players). Gameplay is definitely better over there. And it's more fun on smaller maps, no more mayhem. :)

Just done Elite mode and its not too hard. You just have to adapt and sharpen up a little and try for some head shots or just aim higher. If you go the easy way and unload a clip at chest/knee height you'll probably get overrun.

I don't understand the spawning complaint in single player.

You have to convince the helghast to retreat or they'll just supply more troops if no side is gaining and stay put. It goes with the scene and you have to overrun them to convince the Helghast they're losing so they think to evacuate. Holding back and sniping a certain number would be bad game design imo and that tactic isn't going convince, it's the last stand. Clearing out a warehouse is different but when your at the palace you have to force the issue otherwise its a stalemate. I think it works well that you have to push and get to strategic positions.

Yep, I agree with this. It's best if you get servers that aren't full as well. If you can get in where there are 8 players, you've got a nice small team.

Also, I'm no genius, but why are online players so stupid? Why do they keep going through the same rooms, safe in the knowledge that that's where the enemy (i.e. me) are waiting for them?

I have to agree with the frustration regarding the changes to the controls, it can now be difficult to find matches that don't decend into run and gun idiot fests.

I've managed a few good matches over the last few days, but most quite get filled up with morons who refuse to even think tactically. Playing as the Helgast on Blood Grach (sp?) is a nightmare when you team all consist of dolts, as they just run into a choke point and get slaughtered, repeatedly.

Pain in the backside.

I'm cooling off on KZ2 for a while in the hope that things will calm down a little in the near future, to tide me over my copy of SOCOM is on its way. I was going to buy the mic anyway, so this way I'm getting the game for around a tenner and I know (from the beta) that it has a few issues, but also it is also a tactically focused game.

The main reason (IMO) for the existence of choke points (a.k.a. areas where things clog up really quickly) is the fact that some of the maps (like blood gracht) are too small for 32 players.

I've played Battlefield 2 on the PC with 64 players and the maps facilitated it quite easily, since they were simply huge. Also, BF2 had scalable maps: when playing with 16 players you got to play on a smaller part of the map than when you play with 32 or 64.

BTW 'Gracht' is the Dutch word for 'Canal'.
