Killzone 3

So, any PLUS member try the single player demo yet? Downloading as we speak, will report later this evening. :)

Played the beta with the bots to try out the move controller.

It's not bad, needs some time to get used but headshots are really rewarding with the move.

A bit more options for the move would be welcome though, like in Mag.

I already have my Helgast edition on preorder.
Just hope the Helgast Helmet is 1:1.
I was pissed with the CE of dead space 2. Replica gun 1:3!!

Did you alter any settings? I tried it with the move and it didn't feel natural at all... :nervous:

This game is confusing lol, mainstream FPS games are confusing to me... there's so much stuff on your HDD it's mind-boggling...

This is coming from someone who has only played Quake 3 Arena, Unreal Tourney and Killzone 1...

Yes cool demo. I like....

No, but i also have played a few hours on MAG with the move.

When you come from PC, what is confusing is that the cursor can move onscreen without moving the position of the avatar, whereas on PC as soon as you move the cursor, you turn the caracter/avatar.
(that was hard to explain, and not sure if you got waht i meant)

I tried it to make sure the controls were fixed and to my delight they were! I beat KZ2 on veteran with those busted controls that made me have no interest in the MP after I beat the SP. KZ3 is really fast and smooth and actually quite fun and so far it's the best shooter yet for buttkicker effects :)

Gave the SP demo a few tries. Amazing graphics and sounds! Controls are very smooth and responsive too. Definitely buying this one. 👍

I got exactly what you're trying to say, and yes, that is the biggest problem that I find. The thing is, that the aiming I could get used to, but in an FPS game you need to be able to quickly look around in case someone's following you, targetting an enemy that's off-screen and all that, but having a fixed camera with a moving recticle is very cumbersome, it adds significant miliseconds to your reaction times. I was hoping you found a setting to turn that off but I guess that's not the case. :(

Does the same happen in MAG?

In Mag there is an option to choose between those 2 modes.
But i thaught about it, and in the options in KZ3 you can adjust the windows from which point the caracter starts turning.
If you set those to 0% you should have the aiming reticule in the center all time, and the move serves only for turning and looking up/down.
Like on PC.

Just a thought

Good observation. I didn't have time to fiddle with the options when I tried it, so I'll be sure to check this weekend. 👍

You only need to pay attention to 3 things on your screen. The number of rounds in your clip, the radar for spotting baddies, and of course, the world itself looking for baddies.

The only real important thing to pay attention to are the people shooting at you, lol.

I picked up a move controller and navigator today, but it'll still be a couple more hours to finish charging them before I can try KZ3 beta with them. I had to buy them when I saw the Sharpshooter controller was being released by Sony on Feb 22nd as well as KZ3. Is anybody esle going to pick up the Sharpshooter?

Not sure if I agree with the controls. They are better than KZ2 and yes I'm aware of them feeling heavy for a reason, therefore I can't say they are very responsive. They feel real and not like COD hence not really responsive/quick. Also the default sensitivity is way too slow.
Was I the only one who thought dejavu when the SP started? Didn't KZ2 start with you on of of those flying platforms shooting things and then you crashing? Only difference is that this time you landed in the snow as opposed to sand.
I think I will also pick this one up, if the SP is long enough.

I was psyched about the sharpshooter too until I actually tried the game with the move. I didn't like it very much, but I haven't given it a lot of time to let it grow on me.

Please share your impressions with us when you can finally try the game with the move.

I'm really considering on getting it. What I like about the new Sharpshooter is that, well for one its made by Sony, not some 3rd party accessory maker. Secondly, it has remapped buttons in places that makes it easier to use. There are buttons near where your hands are normally so you don't have to press the ones on the wands. I'm just trying to see if it's worth it to spend $40 on top of the $60 for the game. Might wait until Engadget or Joystiq reviews one before I buy it.

I played quite a few hours of the KZ3 beta with the Move Controller over the weekend and now have a pretty good idea of what it offers. At first I didn't think it would ever work, but then I got used to it and eventually became competetive enough with it that I was getting more kills than deaths in online play.

It's a lot like if you were using a dual analog gamepad for a FPS for the first time, you have to find your personal sensitivity level and then practice, practice, practice. You will begin to get to a point where you just causally flick your wrist to spin around 180 degrees, something you can't do on a dual shock without an unplayable sensitivity. After a while your hand gets tired which is why I want the Sharpshooter. I did make some changes to the settings so it would be more like how the mouse aims. I hope they will add a centre lock function like the gamepad and mouse has, even at 0% deadzone there still is some travel before the cam moves with you. When I get the sharpshooter I will up the sensitivity closer to 100%.

My settings were

Deadzone Height 0%
Deadzone Width 0%
Crosshair Sensitivity 10%
Turn Speed 100%
Lock Assist NONE
Zoom ADAPTIVE
Crouch TOGGLE

I'm getting this delivered to my doorstep next Tuesday. Can't wait. The new Brutal Melee system is gritty, and adds the vendetta feel that I so desperately want! I mean, those Helghast are a bunch of jerks. LOL

They have already announced the patches that will be released follwoing the feed-back from the Beta(s):

The Killzone 3 Beta has officially ended and the team at Guerrilla have been examining the reams of data and suggestions they have collected. The post on Killzone.com seems to indicate there will be two patches, a day one patch closely followed by another fix. The first tweaks are:

* A fix to the “Your Faction Has Won/Lost” issue, along with all oddities that resulted from this occurring
* An issue that allowed more than two clans to join a clan match will be fixed
* Increased Accuracy, Bullet Damage and Faster Reload Ribbons will update correctly on personal statistics screens
* We’ve simplified the process to invite players into your game (just one button press)
* The radius of the Marksman’s Scramble++ has been lowered
* Medic’s Revive distance increased and cooldown to re-use is decreased
* No collision on mortally wounded player bodies
* Increased player stamina
* An icon will be shown in the menu when you have a Killzone 3 message in your inbox

A short period after the game launch the following changes will also be patched:

* Support for color-blind players
* Implement unranked custom games for players to create private or clan matches
* Enhanced custom games functionality that will allow players to:
o Control over games modes and settings
o Secure games, allowing you to invite the players you want to play with
o The ability to prevent abilities and weapons from being used
o Toggling on and off functionality, such as ribbons, skills, explosives, etc.
o Selecting which careers you want available to players
o Allow friendly fire to be turned on or off
o Faction switching enabled or disabled
* The Clan Officer role will be added to clans
* Separate turn speeds for hip-fire and ADS
* Overly enthusiastic death screams will be toned down
* Increased the amount of kills required to win a Guerrilla Warfare match
* Increased Accuracy ribbon will have its effectiveness lowered
* Likewise, the Bullet Damage ribbon will have its effectiveness lowered as well
* Matches will end if the other team forfeits (i.e. too few, or no players on the enemy team)
* Matchmaking enhancements that will close and merge games based on player count, which will keep games more full
* Balance factions out by moving players to the other team at the end of the match if one team is lopsided
* The ability to turn off HUD markers for point pop-ups and objectives
* A menu option to allow squad-only chat
* The addition of a Mute All button
* Scoreboard flickering will be fixed
* Clans will no longer get matched against other clans that have many more players than they do (i.e. 4 vs. 7, 5 vs. 8)

I played the single player demo today in 3D and it is stunning, so much better than Black-Ops which had a major ghosting problem. Can't wait for the full game.

If anyone is getting this, I am looking for some people to play KZ3 with.

Please add me at rhymesxreasons :D

Played through the demo last night and wow what a demo that was. I like the new jet pack and that rocket launcher that also sends in air strikes. Huge improvements over KZ1 and KZ2. Great demo!!

It's really a nice game. MP is fun 👍
I will get mine tomorrow. If the Postal men doesn't go berseker stupid again.
Sadly i'm not home for the weekend :S , so i need to make the best of tomorrow night

This game is quite annoying, it took me 5 tries just to get into a MP match. Most of the time, the game will get hung up at the loading screen and you can hear others complaining about it. Also the game likes to hang up when selecting the single player campaign. Hopefully the game gets patched soon.

Although, when you get to play the MP. This game is so beautiful :)
