It's a Durian. And no.

I have, but watermelon, berries and citrus fruits beat it by a square mile, if not more.

Those things are the foulest things on the planet! I won't even let my wife bring one in the house because they smell like a rotting corpse! When I was persuaded to try it and told it's not as bad as the smell I nearly puked. Disgusting, horrible, putrid creation. It should never be grown and they should be eradicated from the Earth. Forever.

That's how I feel about Durian fruit.

I'm a kiwi fan so now you see where my loyalties are.

It's ok though, I like it sweet but I'm more of a seasonal eater of Durian..you remind of my father :sly:

Haa! you're the only one currently have eaten it! Where did you eat or bought it btw?

Ah, man, the first time I tried it I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth for hours!

Lots of them in Asia. Most of them come from Thailand, I think.

Is it strange that the only reason I recognised that foul smelling fruit was because recall seeing some random Thai dude smashing them over his head a few years back?

Is that the actual insides or is that expanding foam?

It's the Durian flesh. The seed is contained within.

If you like stinky, soft cheeses you'll love this fruit. I might like this fruit but I've never tried it.

I know this fruit from Andrew Zimmern's show Bizarre Foods which is the clip below. The clip is about the fruit honored.

I have eaten this. In fact, I am natively close to where it is mostly produced (I don't live there currently though). For me, the smell is quite radiant, and aromatic. The taste is also sweet and almost like custard. My family usually make desserts with Durian.

Thailand. As others have said, the smell is awful but I like to try new things.

Well, that's not what I was expecting from the thread title! I was expecting Liberace or something. :dopey:

The Durian looks like something they'd use in on you during the Inquisition. :scared:

Durian got nothing on Clementines :)

I haven't eaten it, but if a war ever breaks out, I want one as a weapon.

I hate them. Yuck!

Agreed.

I'd like to see them in the next Mario Kart. I see your spiked shell, and I raise you a durian.

Damn, and I thought pineapples were dangerous.

A Kiwi isnt'a fruit. It's a Flightless bird! This is the second time I've had to say this! :p It's called Kiwi fruit. ;)

It's everywhere in Malaysia and I've eaten it many times before. There are many types of Durian like 101, D24 and Sultan but my favourite is Sultan. It's much, much more expensive and it's sweeter than anything of its variant. It may not suit the westerners well like how you guys think but here in SEA it's one of the most famous and wanted fruit!

Grrrrr. Fine then, you go on eating dead birds.

...and before you say it, it's Dragonfruit not a fire breathing mythical creature!

;)

Now, Dragon fruit is a tasty fruit.

I'm a bit worried about these kind of things though.
