Thanks for the previous information with regards to building a wheel stand. But does anybody know where i purchase one of those stands from, The ones that look like tubing and go for about $200
They don't wobble. There are many users here on GTP (including myself), and there's also a review on the front page, with movies too.But wouldnt that wheelstand just wobble too much? Seems like a really stupid design, although I've only seen pictures. Any who has one are the actually good?
They don't wobble.
It's obvious that it wobbles. Even from Jordan's video (in which he is driving in a very calm way) that is obvious.
I've used one for more than a year. Yes they wobble a little bit when trying to regain control over a stampeding car but for any normal racing situation it is solid enough. The only solution to get less wobble is probably a Playseat. They are as solid as they need to be and any wobble will come from poor driving rather than poor construction. There are Div 1 Gold drivers in the registry using it so it's obviously not too shabby. (OTOH I know of a Div 1 Gold driver who managed it with his wheel fastened to a skateboard lying in his lap so go figure...)
Another WheelStandPro user. Get the G27 version (it's only slightly more expensive) as it has a wider heavier base. It doesn't wobble at all. The most solid thing I've ever mounted a wheel to, much better than a desk. I use mine with the DFGT and MS Wireless Wheel.
Amazon.com, playseat evolution suits me pretty well, its only a little bit more than $200
