Thanks for the previous information with regards to building a wheel stand. But does anybody know where i purchase one of those stands from, The ones that look like tubing and go for about $200

But wouldnt that wheelstand just wobble too much? Seems like a really stupid design, although I've only seen pictures. Any who has one are the actually good?

I have the Fanatec RennSport Wheel Stand and it is extremely stable. Very little wobble. The highly regarded Wheelstand Pro also seems stable in video reviews.

They don't wobble. There are many users here on GTP (including myself), and there's also a review on the front page, with movies too. :)

Wanting to order a wheelstand pro, but they're on back order and don't expect more in till Dec 19th.

I built a wheel stand for my Dad's G25 this weekend out of 1-1/4" PVC. I know it's not the prettiest solution but, for $30 and some elbow grease, it's a custom fit, rock solid stand that let's you crank on that wheel as much as you want and the only give depends on the softness of your couch cushions. I just think it's crazy to spend $200 on something that doesn't work any better.

I totally recommend the Wheelstand Pro if you can wait, my concern was that it might not withstand my aggressive driving, but sine I got mine a month ago there have been no probs at all. Yes there is a vertical bit of metal between your knees but it wasn't even something I'd thought about til i read it on this thread. Not that expensive really and it folds away so easily.

Another WheelStandPro user. Get the G27 version (it's only slightly more expensive) as it has a wider heavier base. It doesn't wobble at all. The most solid thing I've ever mounted a wheel to, much better than a desk. I use mine with the DFGT and MS Wireless Wheel.

It's obvious that it wobbles. Even from Jordan's video (in which he is driving in a very calm way) that is obvious.

I've used one for more than a year. Yes they wobble a little bit when trying to regain control over a stampeding car but for any normal racing situation it is solid enough. The only solution to get less wobble is probably a Playseat. They are as solid as they need to be and any wobble will come from poor driving rather than poor construction. There are Div 1 Gold drivers in the registry using it so it's obviously not too shabby. (OTOH I know of a Div 1 Gold driver who managed it with his wheel fastened to a skateboard lying in his lap so go figure...)

Yes, I've read some reviews and I'm sure that it is nice solution. I'm even tempted into buying one.

I was just pointing that it does wobble and may not be as straightforward a decision for some, especially for someone who is asking specifically about that matter...

I had a wheelstandpro for a long time. It is very stable.

Its a perfect solution for anyone who dont have room for a permanent seat setup.

I've been meaning to place on order through these guys, but money has been tight.

A couple budget options with them. If you already have a seat, just order the base and mount the seat yourself. With G25 shifter kit its less than 150. And a trip to the junkyard should net a few good seat options.

Okay so it's 160

Or just get the base for 140 and drill the holes yourself.

How to do the DFGT pedals fit on that one, no problems lining them up with that base?

Just ordered a wheelstand pro. Wont ship till dec 17th though. Trying to find any of the more affordable/folding wheelstands in stock since the release of GT5 is next to impossible.

I couldn't be happier with my Xlerator wheel stand. Don't hear as much about them as the "other" 2 popular stands, but I love mine. No middle pole. Rock solid. Easy to pick up and move when needed to. And excellent customer support.
