People are going to wrap their cars around trees regardless of what KY does.

Are you sure?
They say it's a unrestricted stretch, so that's what I believe...

Believe me - It's not.. In Sweden you go to jail for speeding - And nowhere in Sweden, just as here in Denmark, on motorways, are you allowed to go faster than 130Km/h....

Mmmmm.. The famous Uppsala Run - Not quite the Black Prince on La Peripherique, but getting there...

[Edit:] Have you watched the entire run ?... Any government saying that road should be unrestricted would be revolted in 15 minutes....

That's some seriously old news right there !....

Yea yes, but i guess i could mention it while we're talking irresponsible driving, ghostrider also is old news i guess. but now it's GIS nr 8. I've only seen 1 - 3....

i am going with the so what answer to this. He WAS doing it on the autobahn, it WAS NOT illegal, it was NOT unsafe. The eagle eyed people and bike riders on here might have noticed a mercedes estate pulling out on him i would say this person is more dangerous than him goin in an almost straight line. we have all been guyilty of speeding at times regardless of where or when, in the uk more and more 20 MPH zones are popping up and i am sure people dont go at 20mph if there is nothing else on the road. Anybody who has done over 100mph on uk roads is guilty of even worse as this is not allowed and other cars are not aware of people doing it.
Ultimately it doesnt really matter that he did it as he prooved a point and he was legal and didnt hurt anyone and the car was taken there for that sole purpose whilst on the way to the ring.

another little thing the entire nurburg ring is regarded as public road which is why if you have an accident they will make you pay for the armco barriers before you can leave. I know a couiple of people this has happened to. it is all public road and for the people that dont know it is nothing more than a fast road that goes round a villiage.

It's not. I live about 3 minutes from the starting point and I've driven that stretch several times. Speed limit in Sweden is 110 kph. They're talking about making some roads to 130 as a test though. The first two minutes or so in the video, that stretch is one of the most heavily trafficed roads in Stockholm if not in the entire country.

But to the subject: I haven't seen the video of KY driving at autobahn, but as the stretch he drives on is unlimited in terms of speed he doesn't do anything illegal or wrong. Of course it's always debatable(sp?) if it's immoral or not to drive at that speed on a public road but I'm sure the German police would have been notified about it in advance and that they would have stopped the attempt if they thought it would be too risky.

Correct me if I'm wrong, seeing as I've never driven on Autobahn, but isn't the left lane the ''highspeed lane''?

To OP: I get your point that you think it's stupid that they post a video with a driver doing 300kph, but what about Formula One or other racing series they show on TV(to a much broader audience)? Sure they drive on tracks, but I'd bet my money that these shows have inspired more youngsters to belive that they're M. Schumacher(again sp?) than a video of KY driving at autobahn.

I'm not massively sure what's so irresponsible about obeying all posted road traffic laws...

 I've just finished watching the third part of the GT-R inside story, and I'm shocked and amazed by KY's brazen 300km/h run on an unrestricted public road.

What did he think he was playing at? Surely Sony should know better than to film stunts like that when this game is in the hands of impressionable youngsters.

Unrestricted or not, what KY did was scandalous, how would he ofHAVE stopped if some car had pulled out in front of him? When your travelling in excess of 300km/h, you don't get time to react to anything, it just happens.

I also noticed that he didn't have the balls to pull it off at the 'ring', where he chickened out at around 280kmp/h. KY is a joke, and he should apologise unreservedly for this dangerous stunt.
.

I think all the Kid/Adults that crash into trees and other objects are irresponsible

Nah... it's not their fault! It's the silly people who put the trees in the way! Didn't they think that someone would want to drive their car there! :P hehe.

That's a JOKE by the way!

On a serious note though. That section of the Autobahn will have been used by so many manufacturers, tuners etc recently as everyone is now using the Nurburgring as a proving ground for their performance cars. The locals know how to drive safely on the Autobahn and expect to see vehicles travelling VERY quickly along that stretch.

I've been a passenger in an E39 M5 on the Autobahn and it felt safer than i ever have doing 70mph on the UK motorway, the standard of driving (especially signalling, awareness and lane discipline!) is that much higher!

The conditions for the run weren't as bad as people have made out, a little cloudy yes, but the road surface was dry and there were no impedements to visability. The car was safe (Nissan wouldn't let a non-test driver take it out if there were any doubts about this) and KY is an experienced driver.

As for the argument about him "chickening out" on the Nordschliefe. That track was wet and so you wouldn't want to have pushed it any further. The GT-R seemed to slide more than a little bit luridly a few times 4WD or not! Plus, again it was a test car and the armco around the track is stupidly expensive to replace (about £600-£1000 per section if i remember rightly).

At the end of the day, showing KY doing 310kph on the autobahn is not that irresponsible. There's nothing in that clip that isn't already on youtube a hundred times over, almost all of which are far far more irresponsbily shot (drivers filming themselves, with 4 people in the car, in cars that really shouldn't be pushed to high speeds etc).

Magburner, i think that you've been under the spotlight of political correctness a little too long. Take your hands from over your eyes and let the light of the fact that speed is not the route of all evil or the cause of all accidents shine in! :P

The entire of the Nordschleife is a public road, they are very clear to point that out to you when you drive on it, its an unrestricted speed limit and one way, but still subject to the normal rules of German roads.

Almost right.... its an unlimted public toll road apart from in two sections... there are speed limits just before ex muhle where you can enter and exit the track and along the long straight where you can enter and exit... not that I've ever seen anyone abide to them lol

But back on topic there was nothing illegal about it and from my own experience of autobahn driving your always on the look out for high speed traffic when pulling out as no matter how fast you drive down it theres always someone faster (though maybe not in his case lol)

Nah, that's a cop out, and it would hold no water whatsoever in court if he had wiped out and killed a family of four.

Anything could of happened when he reached 300km/h, luckily it didn't, but saying it legal to drive 300km/h doesn't mean its 'right' to. I was annoyed by the fact that he was putting other lives at risk for a publicity stunt, regardless of whether it was legal or not.

You should have a go at the German government for allowing speeds like that to be legal on the Autobahans, not blaming KY for something that many people probably do along there every day.

I would have done the same thing if I was fortunate to drive a car fast enough.

what he did on the autobahn was fine,he said it was the 1st Japanese car to go over 300.if you watched the vid you will see he slowed down for a merc driver overtaking a truck. He said gt helped him learn the Nordschleife and if some people are to dum to understand what he means then they shouldn't be playing ANY games at all.

RUF drive their cars on the autobahn at high speed often, conditions permitting the same as KY.

It's not dangerous to drive fast on German Autobahns, although 300 km/h is too fast even for me. Still, with the proper car there is only one danger: when a car on another lane pulls over to your lane.

There are some things you can do to minimize dangers:

1. Drive on sundays. Trucks are not allowed to use the Autobahn on sundays. Therefore the Autobahn is quite empty on sundays. I live in the northern part of Germany on the "flat land" as we call it. Here you have miles of straight Autobahn with minor traffic. My hometown is 200 km away from Hamburg, Germany's second largest town. On sundays I can get there in one hour.
2. Drive on Autobahns away from big cities. The higher an area is populated, the more dense is the traffic.
3. Drive on Autobahns with more than two lanes.
4. Drive when it's dry.

There are some other things you should know about German Autobahns.

1. You are only allowed to overtake another car on the left side. The left lane is for this purpose only. If you don't want to overtake another car, you have to stay on the right lane. Driving on the left lane without reason is like speeding. If the police gets you, you pay. Therefore you don't have to fear cars changing lanes if a car is alone on the right lane.

2. There is always a wide emergency lane on the far right which only the ambulance is allowed to use. Since this lane is always empty, you have a chance to avoid a crash if you can somehow get onto this lane. On German Autobahns you have to keep a proper distance to the car in front of you, so finding a gap to get onto the emergancy lane should be possible unless your car is 100 miles faster than other cars.

You should also watch these two videos (how does the YouTube tag works???):

Autobahn Part 2:

(The first one does not load for me/is extremely slow, maybe server problems).

The Ruhr area is not very adapted for 300 km/h attemps. It's quite hilly near the Nürburgring and there are simply too many cars on the road. You don't have many straights where you can go 300 km/h without risking others people's lives.

I think Kaz had full control of the situation.

Be honest, whenever you go to germany are you going to do 60 MPH on the autobahn? For me its a no, I would not go under 100MPH unless there is a exit that I have to take coming up. The guy did something perfectly legal and quite safe and everyone bashes him, why not bash on idiotic 17yr olds driving 120 in a 70mPH highway swerving in and out of traffic!

I am outraged at the latest burnout game. I think its totally irresponsible for children to be playing a game where you not only break the speed limit on public roads but also crash into other cars as a feature of the game. Personally I feel for all the parents of children who will and surely have already died due to this game. Wont somebody please think of the children?!

wahh, wahh. why dont you make toothbrushes illigal you bleeding heart liberal. i'm sure at least 2 people die a year from toothbrushes.

Nah, that's a cop out, and it would hold no water whatsoever in court if he had wiped out and killed a family of four.

Killing people = illegal.
Driving within posted limits = legal.

Anything could of happened when he reached 300km/h, luckily it didn't, but saying it legal to drive 300km/h doesn't mean its 'right' to. I was annoyed by the fact that he was putting other lives at risk for a publicity stunt, regardless of whether it was legal or not.

Anything can happen at 80mph. Or 70mph. Or 60mph. Or 4mph.

Fact is he was doing nothing dangerous or illegal. No lives were put at risk because he was driving in a manner that is to be expected.

The reason why 186mph is dangerous on a 70mph limit road is because other traffic will not be expecting a car closing at 116mph from behind. The reason why it's not dangerous on an unlimited road is because other traffic will be expecting cars to close at very high speeds.

I wouldn't even say 186mph is all that unusual on Autobahn.

I am so sick of people blaming games i have run over people, shot them ,stabbed them, pushed them into oncoming cars and maxed a ferrari on a busy high and i KNOW it is JUST a game.I would NOT do that in real life.

so no one should ever reach 300kph on any public road in the world?

honestly if i had been on an autobahn in a gt-r trust me i wouldve done it too, and given the chance, wouldnt you?

and even driving at those speeds its someting you have to do safely, not changing lanes like a madman respecting the other drivers and such and he did it in the dry

anything else i could say has already been stated so ill save it

In all honesty I found the novelty wears off pretty quickly.... after an hour or so over 140mph+ you soon realise you'll never aford the whole jounrney at the rate your fuel needle goes down.

Another crazy thing is in all the times I've been to the ring I've seen quite big accidents in France, Belgium (and Holland when I've gone that way) including air ambulances and all sorts but I've never seen one on the autobahn... Always accidents at the ring though

Anyway, in the whole video I personally think his driving round the ring was more dangerous! from what I heard hed only played it on GT4 and had 10 real life laps... no matter how many GT4 laps you get in youll never be able to drive the ring safely at high speed within 10 real life laps... let alone in a 300kph car in the wet!

 I've just finished watching the third part of the GT-R inside story, and I'm shocked and amazed by KY's brazen 300km/h run on an unrestricted public road.

He`s a cheater :sly: - he breaks the 300 km/h barrier only because he drives downhill.
That would take several laps more at Nardo.

My car can do downhill 170 km/h on the Autobahn although it normally would reach only 152 km/h.

And at the Nürburgring he discovers that supercars don´t got supergrip as in GT-4. ;)

if i am right, isnt it "reccomended" that on the unrestricted stretches you drive 130KPH (not sure how many MPH, i am in the US..), and if you crash going faster than that you are liable for death/money? I thought that is the only restriction/rule type thing.

I think something along the lines of the first part is true (though I think the speed is higher than that), but I know nothing about Autobahn liability.
