My thoughts exactly.
I reminded me of the Peugeot. Then when I read the numbers, I thought to myself, I'd rather have an Atom (granted an Atom is around 50 - 60K USD - depending on the engine you want).
*shrug*

Three wheels is seriously lame. Eww, and it still does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds.

Give me an Atom, please.

As a Vee Dub fan, I say go for it, despite how unpractical it is...

+1 1000% agreed. I say this is 50x better than the Peugeot mainly because it looks a whole hell of alot better. I'd own one if it was reasonably priced. 👍

You know, I wouldn't mind seeing more of these three-wheeled concepts. Maybe the auto industry is catching on to something here. Who knows what this could lead to, maybe they will be powered by an alternate fuel source in the near future. I think its actually quite stylish and if it ever goes into production and the cost is right, i just may buy one.

I don't think three wheels ever advanced the automotive industry, i mean the Reliant Robin and many Reliant vehicles had 3 wheels, and it didnt really catch on back then otherwise production cars these days would have 3 wheels, instead we've stayed with a safe and reliable 4 wheels.

I'll will say though 3 wheels is a novelty, just not really practical. I'm gonna agree with VipFreak on this one, the Ariel Atom is a better choice.

Pffft. Not impressed. :p

Performance: 0-60 mph: 4.1 sec.

Top speed: 140 mph.

Lateral acceleration:1.9g.

And that's been in production for a few years now. They should stick with the EcoRacer.

I dunno, that really isn't bad.

Also, it said a target price of $17,000.

That sounds pretty good actually, fairly quick, great handling, 45 Mpg, and a little room to carry stuff too?

Heck, I think I like it.

I’m not sure why so many of you are comparing it to the Atom – if VW does produce this and keeps it near its targeted price range, it’ll cost half of what the Atom costs. Do you say “Eww, who would buy a Miata, when a Corvette is so much better?”

but a Corvette IS so much better! :dopey: :sly: :dunce:

Didn't see the price, it's quite lower than I suspected, especially coming from VW. Well, add a windshield, along with an hard/soft top for rainy days and it could be interesting, given its price. Otherwise I think it's a bit underperforming for a weekend toy, even if the handling/price ratio is great.

Rather than make a new thread... Is anyone actually going to the L.A. Auto Show and if so would you want to pick me up? I'm gonna be down there next week, I'll be in Santa Monica.

Now that Atoms are trickling into the United States, I can be happy that my car is finially here...

But, US versions are (from what I hear) comming equipped with the Chevrolet Cobalt SS' 2.2L S/C 205HP engine as opposed to the Honda Civic Type-R engine in the European versions...

...It makes me wonder... Could they use a VW 1.8T or 2.0T instead?

That thing's awesome! :p

It may not have the performance of an Atom, but it looks much nicer and costs a lot less! :) 👍

Nice car, just saw it in Top Gear. A bit different from the 20Cup, mind, in that this one is dedicated RWD, while the Cup seems to be a sawed off FWD.

I wouldn't mind having either... and put together (if the 20Cup ever sees production) they could both cost as much as one Atom.
