I'd love some older Aussie rides in the game, there is a real lack of it.

Maybe the older Commodores, the ones that were like Opel Commodore and Opel Rekord and the such.

Also Ford Laser.

New Zealand get some special models i'd love in the game, like the Ford Sierra, here in europe they were I4 or V6, in New Zealand? 302 V8...
Ford Sierra XR8!
Also Nissan Primera, the 90 model in the game, they came as AWD in New Zealand.

Chevrolet - 11
Dodge - 5
Ford - 8
Tesla - 1
Shelby - 1
Art Morrison - 1
Grand Touring Garage - 1
Gran Turismo - 1

Not counting Infiniti or tuned cars that are based on non-American cars, that's 29 American cars. Japan will obviously have more premiums, but lets look at other countries.

United Kingdom:
Aston Martin - 1
Jaguar - 4
Lotus - 4
TVR - 2
11 cars in total.

Germany:
Audi - 7
BMW - 6
Mercedes Benz - 5
Mini - 2
Volkswagen - 5
HPA Motorsport (sort of) - 1
26 cars in total.

Italy:
Alfa Romeo - 4
Ferrari - 12
Fiat - 2
Lamborghini - 4
Lancia - 1
Maserati - 1
Pagani - 1
25 cars in total.

France:
Citroen - 5
Renault - 4
Renault Sport - 2
11 cars in total

Granted, I didn't care about the standard cars, as they're just cup & paste from GT4. But, looking at the premiums, I can't see a lack of American cars. Not at all.

I'd love a Mustang II in the game, that's an american car that might have worked in Europe, as it's small, looks like a Honda Accord, and actually handles well.

Seriously? That car is a disgrace to the Mustang name.

Bugger American Cars, Sorry PD but a Commodore, Monaro and a 11 year old (to be soon) Falcon Race car don't cut it. By the way. For those who don't know. The Pontiac G8 GXP is a rebadged VE Commodore SS with a different grill.

Trust me, there are a lot of us that know that and were grateful when the car was brought to the US and were sad when it left. The same with our GTO which also just so happened to be another rebadged Monaro. The Aussie get some pretty cool cars that a lot of American enthusiasts of GM cars wish would be available in the US. I wish they would have released the Holden HSV w427 out here but it's no biggie, I'll gladly settle for a 2nd gen Cadillac CTS-V (sedan) or a G8 GXP with a LS3 stroker 427 👍. Like I've mentioned somewhere in this thread, it would also be great to see the Holden Ute and Ford Ute in this game. For Americans this would re-establish the on going feud between the El Camino and the Ranchero but Aussie style. Disclaimer: I'm not of Aussie descent but love the cars you guys get, that we don't in the US. Besides, from the looks of your motorsport events, it looks like you guys have more fun than we do. 👍

Seriously? That car is a disgrace to the Mustang name.

Yet Mustang owners hunt them for their axles, to improve their own Mustang.

It's not a bad car, just mustang fanatics being narrowminded jackasses, It's got it's flaws, yes, it's small, and cramped, but it's really a good car to drive, it handles good for an American car of that time, if you bought the proper version, with the V8, it had a decent engine, with modding capabilities, it's light for an American car, i actually miss mine, even if i had the less fun V6 version.

But it's got a bad rep due to Mustang purists with their head up their ass, worshipping the 60's Fastback, as if it were flawless, reminds me a lot of Skyline fanatics, the kind that thinks the Skyline will beat every car ever made, cause it's a Skyline.

Put a Mustang II in front of anyone, along with an '65 and ask them to choose which one they want. A majority would pick...

Top tiers?

most aren't even sold outside the US.
Sure, they can be top tiers in North America probably, but that's not the world, there's a couple continents outside of North America.

American car culture has been for years, about big cars with big V8's, meant for highways, yes, there's corners, and narrow roads there, but most traffic is on the main roads and highways.

places like Europe, small cars with small engines for small roads with loads of corners, this will often include the middle of town as well, buildings are close together, making narrow roads.

Due to that, the US cars, based on the US market.... stays on the US market.

Chevrolet have started making smaller cars, based on asian and european technology, Opel and Daewoo.

But they still don't sell in europe, people still just buy the daewoo or the opel.

as for being around for a long time... that is true.

And before i'm attacked, i'm not against US cars... i own a 30 year old Buick, and i've had Mustangs.

Very well put! :) Totaly agree

Maybe we should give the yanks a Chevrolet Matiz, that amazing american car!! hahahhahaha...

The new Mustang 5.0 (or GT500) needs to be in the game as a premium car. It is an icon here in the U.S., and is known throughout much of the world.

It's 400 plus hp and updated styling need to be taking on the new Camaro and Challenger in the game...:sly:

I wouldn't mind seeing the Cobalt SS (Turbo) in the game either...

Without getting into 'your continent makes rubbish cars and ours are bo shank!' the simple fact is PD are Japanese, so their focus will be Japanese cars, the biggest market for the game is Europe so they take second priority, and finally there are a few American gems that everyone is happy to have in so they throw them in as well. For every American car missing that 'deserves' to be in, there are a dozen European cars also 'deserving'.

The way I see it there are three options for the priority of cars.

Where the game is made, Japan. Where the game is sold most, Europe. And where makes the best cars, Europe/Japan. And in none of those options would it make sense to give a higher representation to American cars.

All american cars are garbage. No offense but true. My aunt also died becuz of her chev, cobalt. The breaks didn't work properly and she was driving it in winter. They gave her a new cobalt cuz the one tht she had was a complete junk.

Sorry about your Aunt, but totally your opinion and not fact. Just because one car was crap, doesn't mean they all are. That's the problem with this thread. So many opinions flying around...

Japanese developer. The game COULD use more American cars but it has all of the essentials.

False, freak accident, sorry for your loss.

the inherent crappiness/decent nature of US cars is irrelevant..polyphony digital last i heard is a japanese based company that i would imagine would employ almost completely japanese developers(may be some half chinese or korean by ancestry). the game is going to cater to japanese tastes in cars...which if you haven't noticed is vastly different from at least US tastes(if you don't believe me google jdm vanning or kei cars). so deal w/ it..unless u plan on funding/opening a us/euro/australian branch of polyphony digital, and re-releasing GT5:The Amurrican Vursion, or the Euro/Australian version, quit your belly-aching...i mean they saw fit to include nascar for crying out loud....i think the only valid question is why arent there more jdm models included; jzx-chassis(only 1 chaser, really?) mz10 soarers, cefiros, laurels, glorias, non blitz 4 door skylines, etc... and being that there is a drift mode, i think any japanese car that has been entered into at least a semi-pro drifting competition should be included...
Next thing u know malaysian players will complain about the lack of Protons, and Indian players will complain about the lack of Tatas and Mahindras...the game is not perfect, nor all encompassing..it might've been, but then the 11/24/10 release date would've have been yet another false positive, and gt5 would be slated for ps4...

Put a Lamborghini Contach by the '65 Mustang, the majority would pick...

I'm not saying the 60's Mustangs are crap, but that the Mustang II is underrated, it's a good car, worthy of the Mustang name.

But i'm guessing that flies straight over your head, while you clutch at your dreams of a '65 Mustang, thinking it's the only friggin Mustang that exist.

bloody elitist car enthusiasts is the worst thing i know.

Nobody is talking about how good or bad the car is. However, the Mustang II has a horrible reputation when it comes to its looks, which is what most people start picking cars based off of before anything else.

It's not only looks, i've had to deal with a lot of that crap in person as well with 60's Mustang owners, as i used to own a Mustang II, the look, while not epic, is closer to the classic look than the Foxbody ever was.
Though it won't win beauty contests, the literal hate against it is perplexing, it's not like it's a Pontiac Aztec.

Of the 29 premium American cars 12 are NASCAR stock cars. So in reality you're looking at 17 individial cars.

There is 29 (really 17 if you don't count the NASCAR copies) premium American cars but 73 premium European cars.

Foxbody is the ugliest Mustang ever. I honestly have no idea why I wanted one to begin with. I'm so thankful I smartened up and got the one in my picture instead of one of those.

My favorite shape was the 94-98 Stang, it looked fast, aerodynamic and yet muscular.

Ironically enough besides the most recent two models of mustang, the Foxbody was my favorite because it looked like a japanese car...that and an available turbo inline 4:tup:. since i'm not a big fan of American-developed cars in general(unless they're ripped from foreign based models i.e., gto, lincoln ls, conquest etc,) i guess my my opinion is a bit skewed..:dopey:

17 is still more than France or the United Kingdom have in the game. Furthermore, it'd be 18, as you'd have to count the NASCAR stock cars at least once. And, seriously, do you think that one country, the United States of America, should have as many cars as all of the European country that you're tallying here? Flash news, there is no country called 'Europe', so Europe having more cars in the game than America is actually perfectly fair and fine, as far as I am concerned. In fact, you're looking at four European countries and the USA, so I guess the USA should be outnumbered four to one. And that's actually pretty close. 18x4=72 vs. 73 cars from four European countries.

Now, really, that is a bit much, isn't it? I mean, I get that there's a different philosophy between American cars and European cars. But just because there are two mentalities at work here doesn't mean the cars should be devided evenly among those mentalities.

But if this is what the so-called lack of American cars is supposed to be, then sorry, I really can't get my head around it.

The vast majority of American cars are standard, but IMO America should have at least half as many cars as all of Europe. I mean apart from Germany, the vast majority of Europe has been no where near as substantial in automotive as the Americans. Also, if you look at it in terms of populations represented, Europe is what, 700 mil people, America alone is 330 million. I think 2:1 should have been good, not 4:1, but it is what it is.

All american cars are garbage.

I have to disagree. The Dodge Viper is one of the few cars that I have one or more of in each of the GT games not to mention in Forza and NFS. Also the
C2 and C6 corvettes are perfect in every way. And there is your classic muscle.....

Sorry, but this is really baffling. So, you're claiming that Italy is not as substantial as the USA, having Ferrari, Lamborghini and Zonda? Granted, they may not sell many cars, but those cars are drem cars. And that's pure racing heritage right there.

UK? Pretty much the same. I think I don't actually have to convince anyone of Lotus' racing heritage. Or of Aston Martins' status as a manufacturer of dream cars, pretty much the same goes for Jaguar.

France, well, last time I checked, Citroen is pretty involved in Rallysports, Bugatti should by now be known for the Veyron, at least and Renault is pretty big in Formula sports, both in F1 and their own Formula Renault. And from what I hear, Peugot does pretty well at Le Mans.

I won't start bashing American cars, but really, lumping all European nations into one and comparing the USA to that instead of comparing it to the individual countries is just mindboggling to me.

Not as substantial, my butt.

/edit:
Oh, yeah, if we actually do count all cars that have that little American flag to them, including Infiniti and cars tuned by American companies, the US would be pretty close to having half as many cars as Europe.
