Lack of American cars

Probably due to minimal entries through lack of support.

might also be because a lot of the races are in Europe?

i don't really follow that type of racing, so i wouldn't know...

i enjoy rallycross, some classes are for normal road cars, not a lot of american cars there though, i've seen it once, it won, but only because it was so huge no cars could get past it XD
Was my first time seeing a full size Oldsmobile compete in a rally....

Most other cars are Volvo 240, Ford Sierra, Ford Escort MK1 and MK2, VW Golf MK1 and MK2, VW Bug and such, a huge Olds suddenly showing up on the narrow track, made it so the others coulden't get past, as the big V8 got it ahead on the startline :p

Besides the Viper, the Corvette was pretty much the only other option at the time, but Corvette Racing were too focused on ALMS & LeMans to bother with the FIA GT. The C5R wasn't sold to privateers until 2003 either, which is around the time the FIA banned manufacturer involvement, thus the Viper was the only American car you could get prior, thanks to Oreca. The 'Vette still enjoys similar success to the Viper's days.

Which is more than anyone else could with a single car besides Maserati.

"with a single car"? And how exactly is that variable any relevant? Nice excuse. What excuse are you going to pull next? With a single driver? single change of pants for the driver?

Get over it, seriously. US cars aren't more relevant to the worldwide field of automotives than german, italian, british, french or any other single european major country (actually they're less relevant then most, but let's go with the "not more" to avoid making oversensitive people feel "insulted" lol), and have pretty much the same representation in the game.

I know you aren't used to it, but game developers and gamers from outside the US do exist. So the US won't always get the most attention in EVERY game out there.

This is a game developed in Japan, by a Japanese game developer, that obviously has better access to Japanese cars and manufacturers, most of which are still very popular even outside Japan (quite a lot more than american cars at that) and even in the US. Still they successfully managed to represent a wide variety of cars from every country, including basically all of the most important international examples. They have several american classic muscle cars, street cars, modern muscle cars, race cars and even Nascar.
yet you're here bitching that you want more.
Wonder why I don't see german, italian, british or french people bitching the same way, despite their countries getting the same (or less) representation, and having the same (or more) relevance?

Goodness, I feel like I'm back to the times of Il-2 sturmovik, when americans bitched to hell and back because the (russian) developer didn't introduce more american aircrafts.

You're the one who implied the Viper was crap, and a bunch of posts about how it only won 1/5th of the races in the FIA GT up to 2009, and how that was a minority, when in reality, it is the 2nd best winning streak in the series.

I deleted the rest of your post because it has nothing to do with me or anything I said previously. I have yet to make any argument or post wondering about why there is a lack of American cars in GT or any indication that I think American cars should be better represented; I couldn't care less.

While you're also at telling me to "Get over it, seriously", take your own advice, and quit talking about American cars or their relevance to motorsports or automotive history. You obviously have very little knowledge about them, so anyone here with a brain will take heed to ignore your "facts" being labeled as "opinions and experience", experience that is obviously fiction.

You're the one who implied the Viper was crap

Really? I'd be very interested in seeing you quote where I "implied" that the Viper is "crap".

Honestly the only reason I bought a few american cars is simply because for awhile I only had like one. I do like a few though. The Ford GT is freakin beautiful, anyone who says it isnt is lying. I have a few others, Shelby Cobra, Viper ACR, C6 ZR1 RM, 69 Stingray, the only other one I actually like is probably the sting ray. The C6 RM is ridiculously fast, and handles amazing, but to me thats boring. Plus I really dont like vettes at all anyway. I only bought it because it was necessary.

The only American cars I would want are the ones that aren't really american which are the Australian Holden cars. Give me more European cars.

edit: Actually the classic Mach 1 Mustang as well as the original Viper are two other cars I would buy.

I'm sorry. You meant American cars in general, though you scrabbled together enough posts trying to label the Viper's history in the FIA GT as anything but successful.

My point still stands, though. Anyone digging through the last few pages can read about your so called "opinions & experience" on American cars. It's clear you're just not a fan (to put it nicely) of American cars, so no matter what anyone replies to you on, you'll believe what you want, even if it remains fictitious.

Don't bother with him/her. No point can be made that will change his/her mind. Blind hatred of American cars is what you are up against. The arguments posted have no facts or incorrect information from what I have seen and just opinion, which he/she presents as logic. Don't waste anymore time, I stopped a while back.

Thinking that american cars are less relevant to the world of automotives in general than most other major nationalities, and thinking that their representation in the game is more than fair doesn't equate to thinking that they are "crap" or "not being a fan".

What I'm not a fan of, are some american gamers whose self centered attitude brings them to bitch like hell every time their country isn't represented in a dominant position in a game. No matter if that representation is actually realistic.

Blind hatred of American cars

My garage in GT5 tends to differ.

Except that you made it quite clear in your arguments that you are not as knowledgeable as you believe on American automotive culture, esp. with the way you continue to discredit said culture. It has become obvious over the time of these posts that it does equate to a dislike for the cars, or at least, in your case. You wouldn't make the statements you have otherwise.

So, they aren't allowed to "bitch", yet you're allowed to mis-represent their automotive history & relevance? Well, as I just said,
so no matter what anyone replies to you on, you'll believe what you want, even if it remains fictitious.

I'm knowledgeable enough on said culture to know that it's almost completely irrelevant out of the US. And this game is't targeted to the US only, quite the contrary.

There's no mis-representation.

Not to the point you believe it is; hence mis-representation. As for the game, I have not said a word about it being US-targeted.

Not really, most people out of the us can't and won't care the less about american cars. That's exactly because american car culture is raher unique and doesn't fit well with most other car cultures (And economies).

But this is not the attitude or words you used to describe it before hand. Now, you've changed your argument to state the more obvious & without the previous assumptions.

Actually i changed nothing. You're the one that assumed that I have an irrational hate for american cars just because I don't favor them. Just as much as the others bitching in this thread wrongly assume that american cars are represented too little in the game just because they aren't represented more than anyone else.

Look up imperialism and then tell me anything is irrelevant to American culture.

Chevrolet - 11
Dodge - 5
Ford - 8
Tesla - 1
Shelby - 1
Art Morrison - 1
Grand Touring Garage - 1
Gran Turismo - 1

Not counting Infiniti or tuned cars that are based on non-American cars, that's 29 American cars. Japan will obviously have more premiums, but lets look at other countries.

United Kingdom:
Aston Martin - 1
Jaguar - 4
Lotus - 4
TVR - 2
11 cars in total.

Germany:
Audi - 7
BMW - 6
Mercedes Benz - 5
Mini - 2
Volkswagen - 5
HPA Motorsport (sort of) - 1
26 cars in total.

Italy:
Alfa Romeo - 4
Ferrari - 12
Fiat - 2
Lamborghini - 4
Lancia - 1
Maserati - 1
Pagani - 1
25 cars in total.

France:
Citroen - 5
Renault - 4
Renault Sport - 2
11 cars in total

Granted, I didn't care about the standard cars, as they're just cup & paste from GT4. But, looking at the premiums, I can't see a lack of American cars. Not at all.

30 Cars

Fixed. HPA Motorsports is a Canadian company, so close enough.

Edit:

Scrap that. I'm an idiot.

You keep telling yourself that.

This is going to remain with you defending your new argument & no longer using the same attitude you were using earlier, which is what was bugging people. Now, you're choosing your words differently to state the obvious.

Well they aren't represented right. American cars are among the top tiers of the automotive business (and were certainly around before many) which means that they aren't represented right considering the glorious past that the nation has in automaking.

The only American (muscle) cars I'd WANT in GT5:

1969 Dodge Charger R/T (I know there's a '70 model in the game already)
1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 429
2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0

Already in the game:
1970 Dodge Challenger R/T
1971 Plymouth 'Cuda

I can't believe they left out the Pontiac trans-am's in this game

Top tiers?

most aren't even sold outside the US.
Sure, they can be top tiers in North America probably, but that's not the world, there's a couple continents outside of North America.

American car culture has been for years, about big cars with big V8's, meant for highways, yes, there's corners, and narrow roads there, but most traffic is on the main roads and highways.

places like Europe, small cars with small engines for small roads with loads of corners, this will often include the middle of town as well, buildings are close together, making narrow roads.

Due to that, the US cars, based on the US market.... stays on the US market.

Chevrolet have started making smaller cars, based on asian and european technology, Opel and Daewoo.

But they still don't sell in europe, people still just buy the daewoo or the opel.

as for being around for a long time... that is true.

And before i'm attacked, i'm not against US cars... i own a 30 year old Buick, and i've had Mustangs.
I'd love a Mustang II in the game, that's an american car that might have worked in Europe, as it's small, looks like a Honda Accord, and actually handles well.

Obviously americans are going to be biased towards American cars.

Plus why not have to original Commodore instead of the Pontiac variant?

Don´t know the sense of this kind of threads.

In any case, there isn´t really a lack of american cars. The lack is, that most of them are standard.

And as you know, there are just 200 Premium all in all, so you could imagine, what hard decision they needed to make to choose some.

Bugger American Cars, Sorry PD but a Commodore, Monaro and a 11 year old (to be soon) Falcon Race car don't cut it. By the way. For those who don't know. The Pontiac G8 GXP is a rebadged VE Commodore SS with a different grill.
