Woo hoo! My Prelude beat your Lexus! Still, dat Audi! Daayumm!!!

3:02.619, jeffgoddin, BMW 323Ci 1st try
3:00.318, jeffgoddin, BMW 323Ci 2nd try, 2nd lap off by 1 second, biffed the exit through the last corners... washed out a little at the hairpin after the back straight on both tries...
2:59.554, jeffgoddin, Prelude 2.2 VTi 1st try, too late braking for 1st corner on 2nd lap, had to drop speed 18kph too much, dropped too much speed in high speed chicane on back stretch, braking too late both laps for back hairpin, could've been better
3:04.000 jeffgoddin, Prelude 2.2 VTi 2nd try, caught up in traffic most of 1st lap, then biffed exit to last corners on 2nd lap, horrible!

this track was surprisingly hard to master.
With Lexus im certain that 1 or 2 seconds i can shave off..but not in competition times anyway. High speed chicane is a murderer of good times. On every race i was a bit nervous..so mistakes came quickly.

Next event is Grand Tourihg Trophy on Red Rock, right ?

Through the high speed chicane I could get about 192kph on entrance and 196kph on exit when I did it just right, if I was cautious it was usually more like 182kph enter and 188-190kph exit. And if I biffed it and caught a wall it would be like 156kph exit, oof!

I definitely could have been 2 second faster with each car if I had got everything right, but that's how it goes when you only get 2 shots with each car!:)

And yes, Red Rock vs Touring Cars is next, and after that we get a race flywheel.

race flywheel might change things a bit :)

if i was correct in that chicane i could do about 195 - 200 km/h, but as i said, in races i was nervous, so i slowed and/ or crashed to that damn wall.
My fastest lap in races was second slower than in tests.
deadline next sunday again ?

congrats on beating me :)
this challenge is truly challenging.

Okay, got the Trial Mountain Races done. And they were ugly. With the Silvia Spec S Aero I got a 3:28.332 and a 3:23.253. The rest of my times were like 3:28.5xx. All I can say is that Lotus can go to hell. I had to race 3 Motor Sport Elises, and a normal Elise in one of the races.

jeff, wheres results from 2nd event?

Red Rock Event:
Audi TT
1st try
4:19.355 (held)
2nd try
4:18.920 (held)

Lexus IS200
1st try
DNF
2nd try
4:17.942 (not held)

Corvette Grand Sport is bastard in this race

Sorry karelpipa, guess there's no point in waiting/continuing to encourage the others to submit times. But if you're still into it, I'd be happy to keep going with just the two of us.

Tried all my cars and it looks like getting a lap in just under 1:24 is about what all of them do, so picked the CLK200 Sport and the Prelude 2.2 VTi as my cars to run.

Before that, tried the 323Ci to see how heavy the traffic is, and holy crap, whole first lap was awful, and into the 2nd again as the Corvette as you mentioned will overtake down the straight, as did the Camaro. Once through the 1st chicane on the 2nd lap I was clear for the rest of the race, though I could feel that Vette sucking the exhaust out of my tailpipe the whole time. Finished in 4:24.555... oof. Hope my official runs are much better than that.:nervous:

Edit: not really hopeful though, just realized you're probably launching in 2nd to avoid wheelspin off the line, and as such you might even have a chance of keeping up enough to catch them all through the 1st chicane and running clear after that... as I drive AT and just have to suffer at the start, the best I can hope for is passing everybody sometime fairly early in the 1st lap and getting enough ahead to stay clear through the start of the 2nd for a best time. maybe a 4:20 or so...

CLK200:
1st run: 4:21.142, low 1:23's for 2nd and 3rd laps I was happy with, but 1st lap was awful. No corvette, Supra RZ as main competition.
2nd try: DNF. made the mistake of taking the inside of the 1st part of the early chicane and got mashed up into the sand as I was then on the outside for the 2nd half of the chicane, dropped most of my speed and in 5th going around the wide corner into the tunnel was then pushed up into the wall and gave up there since my only hope of bettering my time was a better 1st lap...

Prelude:
1st run: 4:21.067, 1st lap much better, alongside the Camaro going into the tunnel on the fist lap and never looking back. lost traction on the last corner and dropped some speed which cost me .4-.5 second on the last lap, but otherwise pretty solid.
2nd try: DNF, okay 1st lap and 2nd, except again came out of last corner a little slow, so both the Supra RX and the Camaro caught me up, with the Camaro diving just under me for the first corner which led to loss of speed and line and the ensuing several corners were a horrible dogfight, fun racing maybe but not fast...

Make that three - I'll be ready to give this a go :) Gimme a brief run-down on the rules? I'll go back and read through the first page or so to see what the full rules are in terms of car choices etc :)

its enough to read from around 10-11th page (where starts the new laptime challenge)
but basically you have to choose 5 cars from given list to participate in given events.
you have unlimited test runs with your 5 cars, but only 2 of them you can choose to race against AI cars (1 car 2 tries - so 4 tries/races total).
mm..what else i forgot to mention...always better to let Jeff explain rules :-)
3 participants will be enough

Jeff, let him go first 3 events without penalties please :-)
but falcon you must swear to your life, that you will go through all 11 events ! :nervous:

Of course no penalties for catching up, and I already PM'd him some more stuff. Also, others who find a chance to get involved again can do the events they missed to erase their penalties, too! (Come on CMICK64, jomama2010, and skynyrd! and VANDENAL....)

yeah, kind of... had too much trouble communicating. First sent me times... around the top speed test track. Then sent me times... for best lap around Trial Mountain. Never for actual race times. And haven't heard from him since, despite about 8 attempts total to clarify and get it right.

Also, forgot to say, took the TT out around Grindelwald and on my second go did a 2:57.5, about 2 seconds off your time but 2 seconds faster than my Prelude could do.

oh, i didnt know that its like that with celicaas
anyway, its pretty clear that i did good choice with that car :-)
but im silent from now, i dont want help Falcon :-P

I hurt my upper back a week and a half ago and sitting with my arms in certain positions tends to really hurt. Sitting in my chair holding a controller just happens to be one of those positions (so are reaching up to the shelf above my computer and picking up things on the ground to my left, but what can you do?) The keyboard on my computer is at a different angle and doesn't hurt anywhere near as much, oddly enough.

It's very aggravating, but it's slowly getting better. I may be able to start racing again in a week or two. Not that I'll actually win anything... *grumble*

Yeah, forgot to mention that you'd PM'd about your injury. I've got recurring lower back issues so I can totally relate. Stretch, ice packs, stretch, Ibuprofin, etc... good luck on returning to health quickly!

4 th Event (Fly3 added)
Audi TT
5:08.757
5:05.912

Lexus IS200

this is my 100th post...yippie ! :)
hope you skynyrd will soon get better

Going to be getting my results in soon... Falcon787B picked his cars and was getting started on testing a couple days ago, so hopefully we'll be getting results from him soon, too.

And who know, maybe somebody else will come back to this series, too (come on, guys!)

I'm very sorry I haven't been keeping up....I've been really busy with homework the last weeks...Finals are around the corner in December so I have to keep on my toes about school work...Then for my free time I'm usually playing GT5 online with some friends. As I am in a lot of online enduro events for that game. (an enduro lasting 1-2 hours online)

There is usually about 4 a week and I try to make at least 2. There is a point system set up for each and everything...trying not to let that slip lol

And overall it is a little more fun when you can race against each other online than submit lap times...I'll try to make the next one though...whats the track?

Yes, playing online against real human competitors is a great invention, wish I could do it with GT2. But for me, it's about more than just fun, it's about obsession. I love GT2 and just can't get enough of exploring its depths, and building my skills. Both of which are advanced through lap time challenges...

But I digress. Go do what you have to, and come back when you feel like it. The current event is 80's Sports Cars at Seattle Circuit, and you get to add a race flywheel to your cars.

Hey guys where is my records ?

or do you want me to do it again ?

Hey Celicaas! Let's try to get you into the event, since you are certainly interested. The thing is, the last records you submitted to me were best lap times only, and for this challenge, you need to enter the race against the AI and submit the total time you get for the race, which is 2 or 3 laps. So if you look through the results above, you'll see about what times you should be getting.

Also, for everybody, just to repeat it here so you don't have to go looking back through the pages for it, here's the event order for this challenge:

Events:
1) GT UK-2 Trial Mtn
2) Open Car Cup 2 Grindelwald
3) Touring Car Cup 1 Red Rock
4) 80's Sport 4 Seattle (add race flywheel)
5) Clubman Cup 3 Rome
6) GT Japan 3 Midfield (add triple clutch)
7) Lux Sedan 2 SSR5
8) Touring Car 2 Grand Valley (add weight reduction 2)
9) GT US 3 Laguna Seca
10) GT Euro-1 Apricot Hill (add Hard Slicks)
11) Pure Sport 2 Deep Forest (add weight reduction 3

we're currently on event 4)

hrmm... wish somebody here could translate into Arabic...

Well, took my cars out to Seattle with the race flywheel. Plymouth PT Spyder was really good, appreciated the weight balance of the MR layout, but decided to keep it in reserve and take out my two FF's instead. The FR's were a little hard to handle around some of the bends and were coming in about a second off the FF's.

And here's how it went: like poo. Caught up with traffic in the first lap 3 out of 4 times, and back in traffic on the second lap twice. Plus some less than perfect driving.

Alfa GTV pulled in a 5:10.173 on the first try on the strength of a a 1:48.xxx first lap clear of traffic, and a last lap just under 1:40, my best lap yet after all the testing so far.

The Prelude did 5:10.8xx on the first try, nothing spectacular. The 2nd go it did 5:10.171, just 0.002 second faster than the Alfa. Well, I'm consistent, if not especially fast. The last lap of my second try was 1:39.77x. Putting all my best laps together, I could've gotten down to 5:08 or so. Potential for 5:06's if I'd hit all the corners as fast as the fastest I'd been able to do them...
