Standings after 6 events (just for fun! yay math!)

Did a kind of normalization and average, where your result for each event scored from 0 to 10, 0 for 1st place, 10 for last, and then averaged your results.

0.00) Patruck GT_2
0.00) MadMax86
2.53) jeffgoddin
3.00) stoperan
3.84) MazdaPrice
4.18) Xenn
4.64) White & Nerdy
6.00) Kingofweasles
6.00) jacnob
6.04) skynyrd
8.24) HEAVYSET
8.57) AMCNUT
9.00) VANDENAL
10.0) Parnelli Bone
10.0) Smart_Roadster
10.0) gtmaster08

Under a points per race system, rewarding greater participation and giving 10 points for first 0 for last and something proportional in between, the rankings look a little different:

44.83) jeffgoddin - gain 2
34.90) Xenn - gain 4
20.00) MadMax86 - drop 2
20.00) Patruck GT2 - drop 2
18.48) MazdaPrice - same
15.86) skynyrd - gain 4
10.71) White & Nerdy - same
8.79) HEAVYSET - gain 3
7.00) stoperan - drop 5
4.00) jacnob - drop 1
4.00) Kingofweasles - drop 3
1.43) AMCNUT - same
1.00) VANDENAL - same
0.00) the last 3 - same

I couldn't remember using the '69 Camaro Z/28 for anything in any racing game, so this was a good chance to try it. I installed all mods allowed w/full race trans (so I could adjust final drive to take advantage of the increased horsepower) and ran 1:35.577 on lap 10.

I'm in - thanks for the invite. Can I do all 6 previous events and post my times or not?

Results are in for the 7th event: Classic Car Battle at Trial Mountain, see post on page 3.

GT2 race series 8th event announcement:

Racing Wagons at Rome Circuit!
Charity event with special guest star Graham Wellington!

April 25th opening date, submit results by May 2nd

Tuning allowed: Racing Modification, Medium Slicks, Semi-race Suspension, Sports Brakes, Full Racing Transmission, Clutch-3, Flywheel-3, Carbon Driveshaft, and Custom LSD

Cars to pick from, heaviest to lightest (hp listed is as you'd see it in the garage):

Stagea Autech Ver 260RS '98, Turbo-2, ROM = 395hp
Stagea 25t RS Four V '98, Turbo-2, IC-2, ROM, Port & Polish = 384hp
Legnum VR-4 Type-S '99, Turbo-3, IC-2, Muff-1, ROM = 372hp
Legnum Super VR-4 '98, Turbo-3, ROM, Port & Polish = 370hp
Legacy Wagon GT '98, Turbo-1, Intercooler-2, Muffler-1 = 357hp
Caldina GT-T '97, Turbo-2, IC-2, ROM, Port & Polish = 351hp
Forester S/tb '97, Turbo-2, IC-2 = 335hp
Impreza Wagon STi Ver. VI '99, Intercooler-2, Muffler-2 = 326hp
Mazda 323F S-Wagon '99, Turbo-3, Port & Polish = 326hp

Take one or more cars from the list above for a spin doing test laps/time trial. On the honor system, in order to keep it fair and not a huge time commitment going for a perfect time, you get 10 laps to go for a best lap time after settling on your tuning (don't abuse the tuning laps for practice, keep them under 2 laps at a time please.)

When you submit your results, feel free to include the details of how you tuned your car and I'll include them in the race report I send out. Things like suspension and transmission settings for example, but also whether you drive AT/MT and what kind of controller if you want.

PM me your results as you get them, let the battle begin!

Results are in: Legacy Reigns Supreme as World Champion of Racing Wagons!!

The Legacy's strong performance is generally attributed to it's engine's superior powerband, though of course STi's suspension and chassis helped, too. The other big surprise of the day was Toyota's Caldina finishing 2nd in the Manufacturer's cup, since most spectators expected Subaru's Impreza to take the second spot if not first, and by a wide margin.

The big boys just couldn't keep up on this tortuous Rome Circuit, and finished 4-7, with the Autech Stagea on top of that pack, as expected. It turns out that the Super in Super VR-4 isn't just a trim designation, finishing just behind the Autech and ahead of it's stablemate the Legnum VR-4 Type-S. And the last note of the day, Mazda salvaged a shred of dignity by beating the family-friendly Forester to the checkered flag.

But all the spectators and teams felt a little robbed by some conspicuous absenses. Regular series leaders Patruck GT2 and MadMax86 were evidently being entertained by F1 sponsors in Barcelona, while expected special guest Graham Wellington was stuck filling out paperwork and answering questions in the HQ of the local Polizia after being accosted by a band of gypsies in the Piazza di San Pietro who made off with his daughter Princess somehow...

With the top contenders MIA, jeffgoddin sqeaked ahead of the rest of the pack for his third win of the series. Newcomer JISAW shook off the embarassment of his garage confusion of last week to finish a strong second, less than 0.2 second behind. Kingofweasles continues to fight for a top spot, and had best of show finishes for the Impreza and Caldina. Xenn also continues to maintain his reputation as a member of the leading pack, driving his Legacy to under 0.75 second off the winning time.

Manufacturer's trophy:
1) 1:23.516 - Subaru Legacy Wagon GT '98 (jeffgoddin)
2) 1:23.888 - Toyota Caldina GT-T '97 (JISAW)
3) 1:23.986 - Subaru Impreza Wagon STi Ver. VI '99 (Kingofweasles)

The out of control Elan S2 that wrecked MadMax86's GT350 was probably mine ;p

This next one should be interesting. I always liked Rome circuit...

[Edit] So we have to use stock tires?

Hee hee, not necessarily, I just threw that in there because I felt like it was such a crazy little car to keep under control!

Doh! Good catch! That was supposed to be on Medium Slicks!

Ain't that the truth! That little thing has a serious tendency to want to impersonate a helicopter blade when you go over bumps.

JISAW , you may have ran the Shelby GT350 with wrong specs.

Tuning allowed: Medium Slicks, Semi-Race Suspension, 1.5 way LSD, any transmission you want, weight reduction and power mods as specified below.

Shelby GT350, weight reduction stage 1, stock = 303hp

A 1:27.501 is undoable with the specs and mods listed above. [/my opinion]

without offence ale it seems me that you know about this game yet little.

So as made he passed Jeff
And this that I had 230km / h this nothing extraordinary
My meter and he finished so oneself on 235km / h

Good it setting one's do chest and suspension

Jisaw, I think it would probably be in your best interests to recreate your lap, turn by turn, with the speed you were going and anything else that might be of interest. Write it all down and let jeffgoddin or one of the better drivers see if he can recreate it. That's pretty much the only thing you can do at this point.

hmm what can I say.. I know Jisaw from polish site granturismo.pl and I am sure he is honest and very fast driver. His pace has source mainly in amaizing ability of setting up the gearbox. He runs on MT transmission and knows when change gears properly. In this case Shelby Gt 350 has 6000/min revolution point perfect to change gears. Perhaps here we can find solution of this problem...

Sorry JISAW, I just want this to be fun. I hear what stoperan is saying. Maybe if you have a video you can post a replay so we can see how you drive differently.

Oh, and FireEmblem10, yes, you could have used Medium Slicks for the Classic Car event, and it will be Medium Slicks again for the racing wagons. That and your user name got me to look into Fire Emblem and now I'm playing it, fun tactics!

Gentlemen I have not notion how I can you convince that I went on this what Jeff he passed.
I had not intention to convince here that I am the best.
I went how I knew.
I crossed by such situations already not once.
Stoperan can you say what times www.granturismo.pl be achieved at us

Probably I won't partecipate to the next event since I'm going to Barcelona tomorrow evening and I'll come back on Sunday Evening.

Jisaw, in my opinion you may demonstrate you've made 1'27.5 just taking a few laps again and making a replay video or some snapshots, for example of the top speed. When I make a record, most of the times the lap in which I go fastest is a bit lucky, whereas the others, more "normal", are 0.3-1 second slower.
So, if you just manage to make a video of a laptime like 1'27.x-1'28.2 or 28.3 we all should reconsider the judgement.

Or maybe just tell us something about the setup. For example, I remember I made some modifications to the gearbox, which was one of the auto settings with the 5th gear a bit longer than it was originally. I had thrown away the LSD since I felt the car lost a little bit of reactiveness entering corners, and perhaps I had lowered the front of the car, stiffening the front dumpers.

What did you do to that car to make it go that fast? If you give some advice about the tuning, we may try that setup and see.

By the way, good luck to everyone for the next event!

In case you can't see my signature , I'm not a beginner at setting up my car in GT2 , link

What Patruck GT2 said. If you run GT2 on PS3 you're able to save your replay on virtual memorycard and export it for sharing.

Jisaw, every fast driver goes through this at one time or another. Even I had to do it once a few years back, and I'm at the back of the pack, here.

Post a replay, post your settings, give a little information, and it'll go away.

I will make replay well and pass I will

Add already my setting such max after this to to show you that this is not some fraud.

How foundling moment because I in week from sometimes sie produce not very.
Job, wife, children so how I come back to house then ass comes off me.

Good news everybody! It was discovered that a new guy in JISAW's garage crew loaded the wrong Shelby into the team truck. Evidently there was a drift event a week earlier which also needed a Shelby GT350, also stock power, but with additional transmission parts.

Needless to say, that guy is now looking for a job, but team JISAW's honor has been cleared since it has been determined to be an honest mistake, and since team JISAW dealt with the suspicion like gentlemen. The GT Authorities have therefore rescinded the warning handed out earlier, and team JISAW is welcome at all future events without concern.

Impreza Wagon WRX STi Ver. VI '99 (Never will get used to year listed last, I'm so used to saying it first like '84 Vette or '01 Civic). All mods allowed, no tuning- 1:26.988 on lap 9. The wagon looks cool in Falkens teal and blue. :)

Wow, I really regret taking the 323F now. I muscled a 1:37.387 out of it. Time for a new ride.

1:27.xxx is pretty ... wait, 1:37? ouch. Practice practice practice, my friend. You're probably braking too much for every corner is my first guess, and that's only fixed with practice. Second guess would be braking too little too late and running into every other wall...

The Mazda actually handles pretty well without messing with settings, a little underpowered though. I'd recommend running it again just for experience, until you're under 1:30. Transmission settings are important for making up the last few seconds (to under 1:27), but even without adjusting gears you should be able to get 1:30.

PM me if you want a walkthough of what speeds you should get to, where the beaking points are, etc.

Probably ran slow because I am really tired, I'm going to get some sleep and try again in the morning.
