Last Mission in "Sun Also Rises" now impossible?

As we all know, update 1.20 has changed the tire wear somehow. Some claim, tires don't wear faster than before, only the indicator behaves differently. Others (including myself) are sure that tires wear significantly faster now. Well, here's the thing:

In the last mission of "The Sun Also Rises" you have to finish Bathurst in the Jaguar F-Type Gr3 without any pitstop. In every tutorial I read and every video I watched on YouTube, the RH tires show very little wear at the end of the race in lap 10 and consensus seems to be: "Just do your laps in 2:10 average and you will be fine. No need to worry about fuel or tires." Of course, those tutorials were before update 1.20...

I manage to do laps of about 2:08 and indeed have been in first place by lap 5, BUT by lap 6 the tires always are DEAD and the car becomes uncontrollable in corners. So it really seems to be impossible now to complete this mission.

Is anybody experiencing the same or is it just me? If you managed to complete this mission after the 1.20 update, how did you do that?! I tried different fuel map settings and different TKS settings, but tires always die in lap 6.
I just did it today. Averaged about 2.07 to 2.08 per lap. I needed to adjust the TCS as the tires got worn. Won by about 5 seconds.

I golded this race ages back but saw this thread and figured I'd play it again today for kicks. I'm assuming whatever issues folks had at the time this thread was made are gone now, because on the current patch (1.41) this race was super easy to do with no fuel savings and the tires lasted just fine. 🤷‍♂️

Speaking of which....when are they (or are they ever) going to add some new Missions to the game?

I have tried it over a 100 times and best I have been able to do is 6th

As of the latest patch both tyre wear and fuel consumption do not seem to be a real issue anymore.

However, AI speed is. I ended up on P6 with the AI at P5 being 20 secs (!) ahead of me, P1 even over 30 seconds. There were like two "packs" of cars, a "slow" one that I could take over and a "fast" one being almost half a lap ahead. I didn't do any real mistakes (like landing in the sand or crashing into any wall) but wasn't able to catch up by far. Being 20 seconds behind P5 I really don't think gaining more experience by practicing could help enough to beat it. Really weird race IMHO!

So, has anyone tried out if cutting "The Chase" helps? I'm already cutting the chicane at behind "The Skyline" but that's not enough.

You're likely to spin out by cutting the Chase. You can brake for it much later than what the indicators in game show though.

Hmm... thanks. Any other recommendations then? (Apart from "practice, practice, practice!" of course)

At least on some missions the difficulty levels are bugged: easy difficulty is harder than hard difficulty, like in Maggiore Gr. 3 mission.

Dunno what difficulty you are playing on but I'd suggest changing it and see if it makes a difference.

This got fixed a long time ago.

I had a 4th place a few months ago but did a few more attempts this week and 6th was my best. Might be my driving but I was running 2:09s and the leader was more than 30 seconds ahead at finish.

Seeing you guys still discussing this mission and reading about impossibilities and things made me really curious as I ran this race only once ages ago. Might have been difficult / impossible in between - today it's easy. Nothing to worry about. No fuel saving needed, no tire saving needed, no TCS needed etc etc ...
I've cruised to the win cleanly, no pushing, no bashing, no shortcutting. As long as you manage to be consistently running 2.06 - 2.07 laps you're good I guess. Btw I'd never ever recommend shortcutting the chase : One little mistake and you're done !

I don't use TC unless I am doing grid starts but that made a 3 second lap difference for me on this challenge. I tried maybe 4 times getting 4-7th place before turning on TC 1 and getting the win. I love FR cars but maybe the Jaguar and I don't get along. Glad to know it is easy for you! What was the hardest challenge in the game for you?

Honestly ... I don't know, don't remember. I think there's not been any particularly difficult license, mission or other driving task.
What I always struggle with is building confidence and getting up to speed with high downforce cars and, believe it or not, longer races with fuel and tire wear. I don't have any knowledge or experience here, so throw me in and watch me drown ! Until I've learned my lesson ...
