i wouldve been able to do it with the GT-R TC, i was 0.3 s off, but i ended up getting it done with the Chappy 2J. i know not everyone has one but my setup was

high rpm turbo
tuned the suspension to my liking (made no difference, just more comfortable)
TC in 8 (id try it on 5 next time)
brakes 10/10
racing: wets

also i found the 3,4,5 lap had a ton more traction/stopping power, so even if the 1st two laps didnt count i just kept whippin around. i thknm this has ti do a but with the tires "warming up" (in water lol) although i also thought that RIs worked better on laps 1/2, but not as good overall

why use traction control at all? takes all the fun out it.
the only aid i used was abs=1.
try using the r35 gtr tc and use all its 4wd grip to its maximum! :)

I don't blame him for using traction control lol.

Did a 2,33 with the Peugeot 905 my first time around - no aids except ABS. Just focus on braking early and keeping the front pointed straight.

If you want to be competitive though, It's 2J or bust.

im not having a go at him or anything :p i just think if you pick the right car and judge your braking correctly, its much more fun without it!

the one event i couldn't do without it (traction control) was the f1 championship in a-spec, i found myself even contemplating to use the stability control, but after 1 lap i thought i would prefer to do it the hard way and it was much more satisfying... just took some practice :)

Not necessarily.

It is interesting how this will develop. High speed stuff 2J loses out but the rest generally the 2J is better. I'm just ahead of you with not a very good lap so 2J seems to have some advantage at the moment.

I haven't driven the 2J so i can't compare. And even if it probably is the best choice i prefer not jumping on the bandwagon from day 1. I like the challenge.

Congrats on your lap.👍

It is a challenge to get close to Takeuchi01 even with a 2J :scared:. I can see where the time is with it now which is better than the first few laps with the stock 2J.

Thanks, I thought you might try this TT as I remember when I was in Dan's online room, you seem to love the wet weather conditions. This is probably the first time I'm racing in this conditions since we last raced some time ago, it is surprising to be so high up as I struggled quite a lot to keep up with you guys although I was quite new to online racing and not greatly experienced in wet weather conditions at the time. Saw your lap, seems you did a top job with that car 👍.

I saw it was a wet TT so i got on with it right away. Nobody races these cars in these conditions online so it's a great opportunity for some competition.

Leaderboard is weird right now, but i expect things to balance in the next few days.

It is weird indeed, seems strange with everyone so far off the top time. So much time to be found from car setup and different cars and also from us. Very different approach compared to the dry time trial. Best thing is you can actually feel the difference of different setups straight away in the wet 👍.

So for those of us who weren't blessed by having the 2J pop up in the UCD when we had the money to buy it.... what other cars can get gold here?

Any LM and most GT cars. Easiest by far is the R35 TC. I did a 2:31 my first lap in that car.

Used a Ford GT LM and get within a half a second. It's a challenge when the car won't accelerate in a straight line at full throttle in fourth gear at well over 100 MPH. I swear I've driven cars that were similarly powerful in 100% rain conditions and it wasn't nearly as tough.

With my driving skills I'm not even in the same time zone as the guys/gals on the leader board but I did manage to get gold by knowing that just because the event rules say you can use X amount of hp it doesn't mean you have to use that much...I was beyond useless in my 2J until I lopped off more than 150hp and finally won gold with that...
Sometimes less is more!

I'll have to give that a try. I was fighting the horsepower by taking corners at a gear higher than recommended and short-shifting about 1000 RPM before redline. That seemed to help me carry speed and stabilized acceleration somewhat.

.....and yeah, I'm with you..... in another time zone.

wow 3 pages, glad I made a popular thread.

I only plan on using cars I already have, I think I do have the previous gtr, the r35, but surely the specv, latest dlc one (which I have) or any of that model line would be superior to its predessor, right?

This is the car with nitrogen in its tires because normal air was too unstable, the same car that broke Jeremy Clarksons neck (partially), has no one had any joy with this car? I must get into it and give it a go later today

I was at 2:28.5 with the 2J but wheel spin was killing me. So I started short shifting and immediately dropped to a 2:27 flat. So short shifting definitely helps.

If I could string together my best sector times I'd be at 2:26.4 But that's another story... :p

For the 2J, Try running with TC=1. I watched the Japanese controller guy(bufflo_max1), and got it from him. He's currently the fastest Pad Player (I also use a Pad, I'm #2 with the Pad.)

I used the R35 that Kaz raced at the Nurburgring, I started off with my time just shy of bronze, but I knew where I was losing time, so just kept banging round getting a second faster each lap, until I got gold.

2J might be the 'car of choice', but I found it pretty horrible to drive, mostly due to the 3 speed box. Got the gold on lap 2 but didn't really enjoy the experience. Dry race in the R390 was more fun but I wish PD would sort out the TTs so it isn't the automatic 'go to' car for hot laps.

I got 2.29.6 in the wet trial using gtr tc and with ds3, realy hard and took some doing but got reasonable time after much spinning of track!

I did this with the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP.

And yes, particularly when compared with the other events (which were quite easy), this one was hard.

R8 Oreca '05 (now in OCD), very easy to drive on stock settings - with a very mediocre lap did a 2.33.XXX.

G35 TC on rain tires 1st car I've tried. Gold first try. Easy way to pick up the coin.
GT academy G35 for dry-same results.
I just hate to use the usual candidates of course I didn't put much thought into what I used either-lazy.

I has read this post yesterday, from my office's chair, when I still hasn't had the time to see the event by myself... and my first impression was "¿really?"

So, tonight at home I decide to try it. I'm no a great driver, and I still use a DS3, but choose to try with my stock R35 TC... I golded in my first lap (with many mistakes included) and, again, my mind has been transported to this post... and my second impression was the same: "¿really?".

I used a gtr vspec. Took a few attemps but I got the gold with a 2:36:72. I didn't use the black edition because i felt it had too much weight at the front and kept on understeering.
