For gt4 to have day to night effects, wouldn't the game require dynamic lighting?

Edited
nevermind. Dynamic lighting wouldn't be needed.

I hope night races have realistic sight distances...I mean it's almost scary just watching LeMans racers drive at night. The sight distance looks like 10 feet.

It would be too hard in GT4 with realistic visibility, seeing as headlights don't do anything in GT games, or at least the past few.

As much as I wish this to be true, it still has to be taken with a grain of salt...

A French forum site aluding/claiming the most famous French racetrack to be in GT4.

Go figure, who would ever thought that...

/me goes off to Australian and Belgium forums for the same confirmation...

So you are saying PSM2 has never got anything wrong???

Look, don't get me wrong, Le Mans IMO is nearly as big a deal that the Nurb' was, if true, all GT4 needs to be complete for me is Spa, Bathurst, full Pikes Peak (with some of the famous PP cars) and three certain manufacturers...

I understand where you are coming from and it's all good. We'll just have to wait and see but I'm very positive about this for one reason; they mentioned the Le mans being present in 3 versions, at tgs, Fuji speed way was reported to be present in 2 versions, the present and the one from the 80's.

Yeah I know, but wouldn't you feel more comfortable if the info came from some other place other than France, it's like the 'The Charlotte Guardian' saying that the Charlotte Bobcats winning the NBA this year...

Hmm, the fact that they said there were 3 different versions kind of makes me think it's true 💡

I mean, it's so sensationalist that it makes me think it to be true. If you wanted to spread believable rumours about Le Mans being in GT4, I think you would go about it differently.

If it is in, I'm glad, especially for the people who all this time wished it was in the game. This should make for some high speed racing, and of course a perfect setting for our new LMP cars.

People have mentioned and wished for the three versions for a long time in the other Le Mans thread (8+ pgs) now on about the 3rd index page...

1) Le Mans (current)
2) Le Mans (pre-1990)
3) Bugatti

1 and 3 seem most likely, but news of Fuji being 80's and current configuration gave hope to wishes of traditional Le Mans fans...

We can only hope, double damn the PAL delay if Le Mans ends up being in... :(

Didn't PD photograph le mans? The only thing that has me worried is, the day to night feature. Sure it's simple; all pd needs to do during long races is have the ps2 change the lighting and keep the weather static. Hell, 24 hours on the dream cast did day to night so why not gt4? I'm confident that Le mans will be in but you have to realize the possibility it wont be in.

Well the night would reduce the amount of polygons of the surroundings ;)

Yeah PD were seen at Le Mans, in what capacity is uncertain, most seem to think it was to gather some LMP data and digital images, the same was also done at Bathurst, for some 'Aussie' cars...

I'm not confident of Le Mans being in, but speculation grows day by day, and I remain hopeful, we just need PD to release just 1 iddy biddy shot...

Actually, I deducted that dynamic lighting doesn't even really need to be present. It would be best to have dynamic lighting of course, but you could achieve a suitable limited visibility effect using a black fog effect.

Le Mans slightly confirmed? Either this is a cheap way to get our attention, or you're telling the truth. We already have a bigtime Le Mans thread on this.

While I'm not sure if this is a hoax thread, I'll still comment to at least add some life to this thread. Even if Le Mans doesn't make it to GT4, I'm pretty sure the significance of this track will be highly recognized.

Now this question is a concern. Get this. 8-something mile track. Six to the track (unless PD pulls off some way to put more cars on track without sacrificing the 60 FPS racing). Would it still be fun? Many would say no because, let's face it. It can be boring with a long track and few cars. For those who played "Test Drive: Le Mans" (PS1), as many as 8 could race on the track, but 12 for the Le Mans race. The Le Mans event had some rough slowdowns in this game. Now let's look to "Le Mans 24 Hours" for Dreamcast and later to the PS2. This was unprecedented! I think I could race at least 20 or 24 cars to a track. And the action didn't seriously slow down! But there was one drawback to it all- longer load times. Now, I have made an old topic which was a discussion about how future GTs (not just GT4), can look into putting more cars on track while not sacrificing much, if anything. You can search for it and reply to it. I think the title is "More Opponents on Track..." or something like that. But personally, while more cars on track are good, I wouldn't really be bothered.

If you want to discuss more opponents, visit my old thread on this here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=919012

Um, John, the 'Ring is 22km and still has six cars ... so I'd say that track would get boring faster than the shorter Le Mans circuit ...

And what's with 'shortly confirmed'? I don't understand that one.

If its true about endurance races changing from light-dark I hope we can turn our lights on using the up or down on the d-pad.

Nah it would probably be automatic.

But I still don't get the "shortly confirmed" business. Can someone explain it to me, it just doesnt make sense!

My guess is that the individual who posted, who appears to be French, probably doesn't speak English and simply ran what he wanted to say through Babelfish. The "under three versions different" line speaks to that effect. I assume "shortly confirmed" is probably akin to "nearly" or "almost" confirmed. Not to mention the phrase "The Mans" instead of "Le Mans", since the "le" was obviously translated to "the" (mistakenly of course, since computers are notoriously stupid).

Personally, I'll wait until an official announcement from PD comes out, or else I see it in the game.

Also bear in mind that the number of 65+ tracks may indicate variants of existing tracks.. Autumn Ring Mini, Grand Valley East, Route 5 Wet, that sort of thing.. which would probably also mean that IF there are three different Le Mans courses, they would be counted as three distinct tracks. So the number is probably closer to the 50 we knew from TGS, and that the "extra" tracks are probably just variants of other tracks.

I think the suggestion is that it leaked out from the OPM2 magazine, that's still to come out. Either way, within the next 4 weeks we'll see the end of most mysteries as the magazines will be getting near finished versions of the game a few weeks before release.

Btw, I would like to point out that computers are never stupid. Since they do what programmers tell them to do and have no mind of their own, the only people who are stupid are the programmers. I should know ...

How can I change the thread's title?

Think you can ask a Mod or Administrator ... PM them, they're a nice bunch of guys, not nearly as tough normally as they have to be when it comes to enforcing the rules.

Everyone seems to be complaining about having only five opponents on the 8 mile leMans Circuit - but how long is the test track from GT3?

I was pretty convinced about GT4 having LeMans in it after seing footage of this years race with heavy sponsorship/advertising for GT4 around the track, and there does seem to be an increase in the amount of Sports Prototypes in the screens we've seen so far.

How can I change the thread's title?

I think if you goto the first post and click the EDIT button then you can change the thread title if you are the creator/owner of the thread.
