Hmm but how about getting the AI right before having a full grid of scaletric cars?

/Imagines 10 AI cars plowing into each other & getting stuck.

hell, when pd offically says le mans is in, can I say you are owned!!!!!111  j/k :sly:

Im pretty sure that will never happen.
After reading that article, i get the feeling that PD have had to go the ole Cote de Zure route aka Monaco.

I also tend to believe that article with its report.
It has a lot of definition in its report about Stuff that hasnt been discussed, mostly magazines when they print bull tend to exagerate and twist news weve already seen.

The number 68 for tracks, not your typical guestimate figure there.
I wonder also if they meant wet or dry for each and every course?
I can see the concept of day to night races coming into play for enduros also.

I guess that leaves a big hole in my track list, 68 tracks with out differing versions of the same tracks. At that rate with reverse, wet and night options to configure in that could total 200+ course options.

Like I said, it's probably 68, which INCLUDES different versions of each track.

As for the argument itself (including mine), as well as "I just know it's gonna be there, I just know it!" crowd.... it's all moot. Either it's in there or it's not. Fact is, WE DON'T KNOW. And we WON'T know until the game comes out.

It is thus the number of circuits present in GT4, for which it will be necessary to add the reverses, the testtrack and the various editions of the same layout..

I was refering to this tranlation.

Everyone seems to be complaining about having only five opponents on the 8 mile leMans Circuit - but how long is the test track from GT3?

I was pretty convinced about GT4 having LeMans in it after seing footage of this years race with heavy sponsorship/advertising for GT4 around the track, and there does seem to be an increase in the amount of Sports Prototypes in the screens we've seen so far.

The test track in GT3 is over 6 miles (> 9KM).

I ve read some time ago an interview with some Polyphony Digital element who said that they were filming some locations in Germany, France, Italy and England. If we have the Nurburgring from Germany and perhaps Le Mans from France; its still missing Italy and England. Note that im only talking about real tracks. About Italy maybe they put Monza or Imola and about England they could feature Silverstone or Donington or Brands Hatch. But theres sill one legendary track missing: Spa Francochamps from belgium; most F1 drivers and others use to say thats the best track they ever raced.

Yeah I know, but wouldn't you feel more comfortable if the info came from some other place other than France, it's like the 'The Charlotte Guardian' saying that the Charlotte Bobcats winning the NBA this year...
Admit that there's some logic in the fact that a French magazine is allowed to be the first to spread the news about thé French GT track being in the game.

three different editions: current, that deprived of the baffles cutting Hunaudieres and a last still to be determined.
I drove Le Mans-Sartre yesterday in Grand Prix Legends. It was the pré-68 lay-out, without the Ford chicane or the White House shortcut. I wouldn't be surprised to find this lay-out as the third one, as it hosted the first Ford GT-victory - with KY being such a Ford GT fan since he bought one ...

One Le Mans car from that era is confirmed (the '69 Ford GT40), but several other confirmed manufacturers made cars that participated in the early Le Mans days : Ford with its GT MkII and GT MkIV, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lister, Mercedes, Lancia, Lotus, Chaparall, Renault, Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Shelby, and yes, even a race version of the Mini Marcos raced there (1966).
Here's an interesting overview of the results through the years : http://www.maisonblanche.co.uk/results.html

As for the absence of chicanes on the Hunaudières straight, this track configuration allows a unique thing, i.e. that cars reach their top speed ... and that happens on a straight with a small bent almost at the end : steering must be extremely careful : one wheel in the grass at the outside means loss of control!

Pontiac Le Mans
I remembered that in a recent article (PSM2) they told Polyphony was studying / modelising the Le Mans track, but was not yet able to include it in GT4 because the rights which had been given for a certain period to another game (te 24h of Le Mans PS2-game). So when I heard "2005" I said to my wife and to my son: "This might be good news: they did it perhaps to be able to include the Le Mans Track."
This would at least justify the extra patience. In GT3, PD took cars away for the later PAL-edition. I must admit that since then, they changed policy by adding cars in the PAL-versions of GT3C02 and GT4P. For GT4, I can wait, but I won't be happy if they remove cars again. If they add a track, that would be better ... :)

Well...this may seem out of topic, but I made a short video footage of this year's LeMans Classic. Only old cars, but serious racers.
Here it is.
End of off topic.

Edit : Thread made in photo and video topics. Sorry.

Are there any tracks in GT3 of comparable length to the Le Mans circuit? I'd like to get an idea of its length.

Test Course or Complex String are the closest in terms of distance but still fall short but about 3-4km.

The Chapparal 2D is pretty nice. And I guess that rather cute little Mini Marcos was pretty beastly. Thanks for the little history lesson, Buggy Boy. 👍

I've gone on the notion that Le Mans is about 8.3 miles long. If that is true, you can kind of combine track lengths to come up with some sort of idea of how long Le Mans is.

Complex String = 6.981 mi
Test Course = 6.426 mi
Tokyo R246 = 3.182 mi
Grand Valley Speedway = 3.121 mi
Special Stage Route 11 = 2.834 mi
Midfield Raceway = 2.235 mi

Mix and match, folks.

There's an article of an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi in the German gaming-magazine called "Man!ac". In this interview KY said that Le Mans will not be in the game. To get this straight I'll translate the important part for you:

Man!ac: One last question of a reader: what about Le Mans? Will the classical 24 hour-race be included in GT4?
K. Yamauchi: No, Le Mans will not be included in GT4.

Now, the question leaves open if the track Le Mans will not be included, or if there will only be no 24 hour race in Le Mans. But in my eyes KY's answer makes absolutely clear that the track Le Mans will not be in GT4. :indiff:

Cheers,
the Interceptor

Don't forget Yamauchi is very sneaky. They asked him about a certain Le Mans Track. He could have said no to that particular track only. Remember how sneaky he was about the F1 question before GT3 came out.

But, I'm betting there is no Le Mans track either, and I don't care too much about it.

How old is the interview? Is it newer than the info posted in this thread?
I just had a look, they say it was made two days after TGS, which would make this information older than the info from the French mag if I'm not mistaken. But if they were workling on Le Mans at that time, why would he deny it?

Cheers,
the Interceptor

You never know. When that french mag mentioned the track being in 3 versions, I couldn't help but fall in belief because fuji comes in 2 versions

I think the question is still open. KY's answer in that interview was referring to the race known as "LeMans", the popular 24-hour race. As mentioned, he's very sneaky, and in order to get the right answer, you have to ask the right question. He was asked about the race, but he was not asked about the track. Therefore, he could freely say "no" while still keeping the track in his back pocket if he wanted.

So in other words, we still don't know squat. Either it's there, or it ain't. We just don't know. Probably won't know until the game itself is out. Even the latest public build, those videos on Gamespot, is missing a large number of tracks.

It´s better this way I guess, it´s gotta have some surprises left for when we get the game.

I think KY will have another "cote D azur" in GT4. I doubt he will or could have gotten the rights to use the offocial name but i'm positive that we will have something close to lemans.

Didn't he previsouly, before E3, say that Nürburgring wouldn't make it?

P.S. What did Kaz say abou the F1s in GT3?
