The 6th Le Mans Series race has sort of been announced.

A 1000 km event in Shanghai will be held on November 2, as a preview of the new Asian Le Mans Series to launch in 2009.

However, the event will not be part of the Le Mans Series season, and will instead be a stand-alone race. As a bonus for participation, winners in the four classes will earn automatic entry in the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This means the Le Mans Series will likely only have 5 official events.
Well, looks like my question about a Asian based Le Mans Series has been Answered, though looking at the last attempt, I have some doubts.

Unfortunately, the WR has a face only a mother could love (and she'd probably blame the father, anyways).

:lol: first "Child frightning Looks", and now this. It would appear we have the simon cowell of Sports cars:sly:

I actually like the looks of the WR. It's not stunning by any means, but it's certainly better looking than many other prototypes currently racing.

Thanks for the update. 👍 I didn't realize that the ACO discontinued the Japan Le Mans Challenge after taking over the series. I'm looking forward to a new series in Asia. But, like RACECAR, I wouldn't bet on its success.

The original series was controlled by SERO until halfway through the second season when the ACO took over, so the ACO has little control over getting more entries.

I'm sure the ACO would not attempt this again, especially with guarentees of Le Mans invitations, without some assurances from teams both in Japan and elsewhere.

The full season entry list for the 2008 Le Mans Series has been released:

I've been watching the Epsilon Euskadi's development, and I must admit I like the look of the renders. Granted, the thing's never even been rolled around the shop, and it'll probably have teething problems that'll make a Lavaggi seem like a good investment, but when something looks this good, you can be a little more forgiving.

I guess I should take that as a compliment. :lol:

Wow P1 entries look good. If only ALMS could consistently field a P1 grid like that. I like the look of the EE-LMP1-07.

No word on sponsors or livery, but it's looking good from a visual standpoint. The list for the 24 Hours of Le Mans has been released and Epsilon Euskadi has one spot on the grid secured (the #20 entry). They also have a car on the reserve list so it is possible that two Epsilon Euskadi closed-prototypes will be running at the famous endurance race in June.

kjb, ANY car would look good with the Gulf livery!:D:tup:

The bulk of the LMS teams are at Paul Ricard now undergoing a partial or full 24 hour test.

Some notable appearances:
* Charouz's B07/17-Judd now run by Team Cytosport, and using their colors
* Oreca-Courage #6 and Oreca-Courage #5
* Newcomer Strakka Racing
* Creation Autosportif now running Japanese AIM power
* Bruichladdich Radical has a new scheme
* Rollcentre's 2008-spec Pescarolo front end compared to Saulnier Racing's 2007-spec Pescarolo LMP1
* The new IPB Spartak Lamborghini run by the Reiter factory
* Aston Martin's Vantage "Test Mule"
* Aston Martin LMP1
* The new Epsilon Euskadi

So far the two Audis have led the timing, while Creation is the fastest non-diesel. Van Merksteijn has easily lead LMP2, as well as being in the top 5 overall. Luc Alphand's cars are leading a very tight GT1 pack, and the IMSA and Felbermayr-Proton Porsches leading GT2.

Great Pics:drool: I especially like the Bruichladdich Radical color scheme

Well, if we remove the R10's from the list, the LMP field is actually quite close, with (going on testing times) the battle being between the Aston Martin-Lola, the Orecas, and the Porsche RS Spyders. Interestingly enough, Pescarolo, Quifel ASM, Creation Autosportif, and even the Epsilon-Euskadi are not far adrift!

In fact, based on the test only the Racing Box Lucchini LMP2 is far behind the field, and if you didn't expect that I'm guessing you work for Lucchini.

The Racing Box Lucchini was not completed when they showed up for the test, so they mostly ran installation laps.

Also note the Aston Martin was not properly set up for Paul Riacrd (they used a "base" setup with heavy downforce)

Peugeot beat Audi for the first time at round 1 of LMS @ Spain. The Charouz Lola powered by Aston Martin was pleasent surprise as it finished 3rd.

The Start

Part 2

Then, another challenger, the Dome S102. The car should prove to be just as fast as the Lola Coupe. Notice the air intakes for the rear brakes. In my personal LMP1 design I had the intake look the same way, it made more aerodynamic sense to me. Now Dome had implemented it.

The DS102 will make it's race debut at LMS Spa 1000km

DOMES102.jpg

I'm sure a lot more than "it made sense" went into designing the aerodynamic ducts of the S102, especially if they aren't using the traditional NACA duct.

the Dome in a weird, vaguelly similiar off the wall way kind of reminds me of the nissan p35. its kind of growing on me, but, i still think the 908 and the lola are just ugly :|

Right now the racing in the LMS LMP1 class is first rate. Too bad the other classes lack much. I wish the ALMS and LMS would combine, that would make the greatest racing series in the world in my opinion.

The Japanese need to put a bigger emphasis on their LM series. Then all the series could combine for a truly global endurance series.

a wlms would be awesome, but, would all the privateers from the alms or lms be able to handle all of the transportion expenses?

After a very unsatisfactory delay, I have results fro mthe first three rounds:

As for the WLMS idea, The only problem I see is expenses. Also, the amount of schedule races for the series would determine how far competitors have to travel and how much they have to come offof to travel, especially after say a crash.

It could prove to be expensive for them. But if they commit its their problem. These inconveniences will be layed out before them before they decide. So its up to the teams.

With any luck I'll be working for one of the teams before the end of the year.

Ok time to revive this thread. I have a friend testing for pescarolo at the minute and he's doing well, he drove for Barazi-Epsilon last season and quickly emerged as the fastest driver of the team.

He was racing against the likes of Kubica and Sutil in a junior formula when he had a testing accident which put him out of racing for 18 months (in bed for 6 months!), but he made his return to racing at the nurburgring this year but was very unlucky in all of his races. Look out for him this season, I rate him very highly. I'll be meeting him in Barcelona, Le mans and Silverstone for the races there.I'll be sure to post a lot of pictures etc. :)

infact, here are some from my trip to silverstone THIS year.

That's pretty cool.

I'm still interested with Pescarolo's drivers for this season though.
