And in other Le Mans related news...
Code:
[B]Crash.net[/B]: [URL="http://www.crash.net/motorsport/le_mans/news/173410-0/aco_reveals_accepted_le_mans_entries.html"]ACO reveals accepted Le Mans entries[/URL]
In LMP2, doubts existed over whether any of the seven entries would be taken up, but Team Essex has taken up the option for one of its two automatic entries – a somewhat surprising move given the team was reported to have closed shop at the end of 2008.

Double entries from Penske Racing and van Merksteijn Motorsport have, as anticipated, not been accepted with neither team running the RS Spyder this year while Horag Racing has also turned down the entry offered.
Personally speaking, I'm disappointed and not surprised at that bit of news about Penske Racing not accepting the invitation from the ACO to take part in the Le Mans race given that they have already gone over to Grand Am. I wouldn't mind seeing them try to win in LMP2 and maybe take a shot at the win in the LMP1 class after that if Porsche would be willing to do the same. I guess it'll probably never happen now. :(

I´m actually a bit surprised Champion won´t run it though.

They are gonna run the R15 under the Audi Sport North America Banner so they can't at the moment. Maybe Next year?

I don't think you relize how Roger Penske feels about current direction the ACO is going in. He's also been very vocal about this. Sorry you won't see Penske going to Le Mans with the Spyders, but that's just the way it is.

They have? Strange. Is the new regulations for GT1 and GT2 already in effect?

i didnt think the new regs took effect until 2010. but if so its going to be a really depressing event for corvette racing seeing as this is there last year in GT1 and the corvette-aston battles are always great to watch.

Le Mans 24 Hours 2009 Automatic Entries - rejected:

GT1:

Aston Martin Racing Aston Martin DBR9
Bell Motorsports Aston Martin DBR9
Team Modena Aston Martin DBR9
Vitaphone Racing Maserati MC12
Phoenix Carsport Corvette C6.R

Aston Martin is going full attack for LMP1 at Le Mans as far I can tell (don´t really know about LMS though), so any other classes are simply put on hold. Gigawave will run a DBR9 with factorysupport though, and possibly Jet Alliance aswell. Don´t take my word for this though, as I´ve just read that AM may be in a bit financial trouble.
Don´t know about the GT2 cars at all, but would be cool to see them at Le Mans, that´s for sure.

the aston martin web site has a render of the amv12 powered lmp1 machine in gulf colours it a weird looking car based on the lola coupe!!!

Penske do as Porsche say, in '09 they are running in Grand Am, before an expected return to the ALMS with a P1, which will essentially be the same as current cars but with 3.4 atmo or 2l turbo's, as currently run in P2.

Acura's new P1 uses a P2 engine fitted with larger restrictors, Porsche are expected to do the same.

P2 will be for GT2 and production engined cars, and not be capable of overall wins.

Aston enters LMP1.

th_AstonMartinLMP1.jpg

Based on the Lola B08/60 that Charouz Racing System used last year and Speddy Racing team going to use this year, they will don the legendary Gulf Oil colors.

I wonder how the Lamborghini Gallardo GT2 is going to do... Anyways, I wonder if we'll ever see a Aston DBR9 in GT1 ever again, i sure hope so, go ARC Bratislavia!

Its weird that Peugeot will enter for only some races, I though they'll never rest until they dominate and win everything.

ok first off i thought that astons looked bad in the gulf livery but i think that was just do to it being odd for them not to be in racing green. but that thing just looks ugly in those colors.

as for another aston in GT1 yea i see it happening but it will defiantly be by a privateer team and built by the pioneer team so it wont be competitive until a factory baced aston gets back in GT1. or at least thats what i think. i mean it just dosnt seem like GT1 with out an aston and corvette and now there both leaving GT1 this year its just odd.

After having a look at that chart someone posted, it appears the New GT1 class seems to discourage the rear engined cars(except for the Murcielago interestingly)

The chart has no relation to what GT1 will be.

Nissan are currently testing a GTR with the GT500 3.5 V8, it's intended for FIA GT. Other manufacturer's say GT1 will be for upgraded GT2 cars, it's all a bit of a mess right now.

I mean according to the chart as I'm not sure what they currently are right now(though looking at the sebring test days, nothing different)

As of now, only two cars that I know of is being built according to the 2010 rules - the Ford GT1 and the Nissan GTR (wasn´t it a 4.5 V8?), but there are also talks (rumour) about a Vantage with a V12, and a F430 with most likely a V12 aswell. All this because it´s supposedly allowed to swap engines by the new rules. If a manufacturer has another engine in their productionline, they can use that to be able to run in GT1.
So Nissan can use their 4.5 l V8 from the Titan, Aston can use their V12 from the DB9 and Ferrari can use their V12 from the 599 (wich is basically the Enzo machine)
The Murcielago is the only current GT1 car eligiable off the shelf, and I think that has something to do with it having a non-widened body, and a non-lowered roofline.

Team Goh purchases a RS Spyder.

Probably one of the Premier Racing Teams from Japan, Team Goh purchases a Porsche RS Spyder. The Spyder was run in the 2008 Le Mans Series by the LMP2 Team Champion Van Merksteijn Motorsport.

THe link says the team has filled an Application for this years 24 Hours of Le Mans. It also says they will race in at least the 1000 KM at Spa Race.

Very awesome news. Last time this team had a prototype, wonderful things happened especially for "Mr Le Mans":sly:

Audi R15 Spied!

1234381226.jpg

Autosport Leaked a photo of the upocoming Audi R15 that Audi will use at this years 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

"The R15 features a radical high-nose concept that looks similar to the approach used by the Renault Formula One team with their new R29. It is a major departure from the pointy, low-nose of its predecessor."

What do ya think?

Love the rear tire arches. Looks very muscular. Cant quite make out the nose. Ill be able to see it first hand in 36 days now..

According to Aston Martin they now don't see any future for GT1, only a single GT class.

That leaves the Matech Ford GT and Nissan GTR, both of which very little is known about.

I do realize but, there are problems with the other photo that i put on the origional post of the R15, so i found this one instead

I thought the R15 and the rest of the LMP1 cars would be closed cockpit? Shows how much I've lost touch with le mans.

A slight correction; they don´t see any future for GT1, and would like to see only a single GT class. That is what Aston wants, not what actually will come to pass.
Somehow I think GT1 will survive in one form or another. Stéphane Ratel (SRO) certainly wants it to endure, and so does the ACO.

The manufactuers run the game, with FIA GT way down the pecking order in terms of importance.

Labre In GT1 for this season's LMS.

The GT1 Champ Returns.

And you all though GT1 would suck this year! No it wont. Some of the best GT1 teams have confirmed to racing this year in GT1 in the Le Mans Series.
Even though Luc Alphand has confirmed racing in the Fia GT, they still wish to defend their title. Labre hope to win their 13th GT title in their history with their fast Saleen.

ARC Shakedown.Speaking of Labre, ARC Bratislava took possession of a Ex-Labre Saleen and had taken it for a Shakedown Recently.

A Privateer Dome?

This is probably my favorite news of the Day. The Very fast dome S102 Will be raced by this new team called ECOSpeed. THey will race their Prototype in All rounds in ASIA :), Europe, and some events in America.

Also it seems that Racing Box has got one of their Lola's delivered to them.
