Screw learning from crappy Forza

Learn from the big boys

There is SO many things that PC sims have that GT or Forza doesnt I'm too overwhelmed to try and list them here.

So I will list the basics:

Accuracy - No 10 blue blocks to tell you how much fuel you have. No green to yellow to tell you how good your tires are. PC sims have accuracy, tire temps, fuel accuracy down to the .1 of a gallon, engine tempature, everything.

Damage - I dont know any PC race sim without damage. I must for any 'simulation'

Customization - Dont like the AI's speed? Adjust it all you want. From braking ability to aggression in individual cars to cornering speed to acceleration to everything. I do mean everything. Dont like your paint scheme? Dont like your pit crew's uniform? Change it.

Downloadability - Want more tracks? Want different paint schemes? Gigabytes worth of downloadable extras online

So if GT must 'learn' from somebody, they should learn from Papyrus (GP Legend, NR2003) and other PC sim developers, not Forza

This topic has been beaten to death for awhile. Anyways one of the reasons why I think Polyphony Digital will never reach the physics levels of PC sims is because, well, not everyone can handle the skill difficulty. There are already people who find GT4 too difficult, so if the game were to get any more realistic (which will be harder to drive), then it'll turn off many casual gamers. As for things such as fuel, tire temps, etc, those things may be too technical for most gamers, but I think they should implement it since it's not any more technical than car setups already in the game.

I'm not saying they shouldn't include these things, in fact I've always wanted them to have 2 modes of play. One would be for the everyday average gamer with dumbed-down physics and menus, and the other would be an advanced physics engine similiar to PC sims of today. It seems like they don't plan on doing this though, they like to find a balance between the two to try and please both groups of people with 1 physics engine. Also a lot of the PC sims are very difficult to play without a wheel and pedals, and since not everyone purchased a DFP to play GT4, they'll need to simplify the controls to be playable with a normal controller.

I agree, but it also makes me think, Poloyphony should really consider a PC game. It'd really help them with the online play, maybe get alot of cars, and give gamers the chance to do some incredible things.

IMO, of course.

I for one don´t want PD to make a PC game, since I don´t have the computing power to play just about any game on PC. And a new console from Sony or any other manufacturer is far cheaper than a new computer. Maybe one one day when I´m rich, I´ll agree with you.

About the same for me... I don't like pc gaming a lot since my computer is too slow and it seem to never work the way I itended it to so I'll stick with my consoles.

The only sim PD should not FULLY learn from is GTR.
Too many bugs to screw you over. Its physics engine is the only thing worth looking at with AI.

Other than that, the modes and gameplay will start to suck.
IMO, GTR is just a big boring bag of crap. Like I said, its physics and AI engine are the only thing making it worth it.

I agree it is boring and the physics and AI do make up for it.

As for telemetry, If I was to buy a road car like the E60 BMW M5 and take it on the track I dont want to see my tyre temps, fuel level to 0.1 accuracy and details like that. I want to see a normal fuel gauge, engine temp gauge etc like a standard M5. If I was using a race car that would be different.

I think the incar display should be like the real road car, but I think you should have the topion of customising the HUD to display as much as you want, if you want that to only display what the real car does, then so be it, but if you want to see every little detail on every car, so be it as well. As for GTR having bugs, I've never experienced a single one exept for misplacing a download I got for it.
