LEGEND CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES 2011

The aim of this championship is to have clean and fun racing with GTP friends on a weekly basis. We will be racing the LEGEND cars on the LEGEND tracks over the next 6 weeks. We will compete for the ultimate win and to be crowned 'THE LEGEND' at the end of the championship. The series is open to all as long as you are a clean and fair racer and follow our rules, which can be found in this thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111241

Racing will be over the next 6 weeks and will take place on Sundays 8pm GMT. The first race meeting will be on Sunday 12/06/11

THE RACE MEETING

There will not be a calender setting out the schedule for the next 6 weeks. Each meeting will be unique with it's own rules and criteria. Each race meeting's unique rules will be posted not later than the Tuesday prior to raceday. That will give enough time to practice and get your cars up to speed.

You will have show that you are the master of track and car under all conditions. Whether it's head to head racing, putting that perfect hotlap together or whatever (or to show all how crap you are at night racing :yuck:) The race organisers can throw anything at you so you will have to dig deep. The prize at the end ain't going to come easy :)

Each race meeting will consist of 3 races :
Track : same track (for now)
Laps : 3 laps per race (for now)
Cars : to be specified
Upgrades : to be specified
Time of day : to be specified
Event type : race (for now)
Views : all (for now)
Tuning : to be specified
- adjusting steeringlock and brake pressure will not be considered tuning
- the use of nitrous is strictly prohibited

Points will be awarded for each race (so win all 3 and you leave with 75 points - but that aint gonna happen :) ):
1st - 25
2nd - 20
3rd - 17
4th - 15
5th - 13
6th - 11
7th - 9
8th - 7
9th - 5
10th - 3
11th - 2
12th - 1

HOUSERULES

General housekeeping
1) Please inform me if you cannot participate. It saves everyone from waiting needlessly.
2) Chatroom: will open at 7.45pm. All racers HAVE to join the chatroom as invites for the race will be send from there. Try to be on time please!! There is not enough time to send individual invites once the lobby is open and ticking.
3) Results : every racer has to record his position and time for every race (write it down on a piece of paper). I will try to record it, but may have to ask you to verify your position and time before posting the results.
4) Disconnect : if anyone is disconnected within the 1st lap of a race, the race will be stopped and restarted.
5) Complaints : hopefully this will be a non-issue, but if you have please do not use this thread to publicly criticise your fellow racers. Send me or one of the race stewards a PM and we will deal with it.
6) Penalties : may vary from a loss of points, disqualification or in case of a real bad attitude, exclusion from the championship.
7) Practice : pre- event practices can be held by anyone at any time and posted in this thread 👍
8) Please add all the racers to your friends list. You may have to help sending invites when time runs out.
9) I am always open to ideas in how to improve this series. Please let me know at anytime if you have any suggestions. Critism is welcome as long as it is fair and positive 👍
10) As you can see we have 18 participants. In the event of a full house, one race lobby won't accomodate everyone. We will then split into 2 groups of equal numbers and run 2 races at the same time. So how does this work? At 7.45pm ALL racers join the chatroom which I will set up and send you an invite to join. We will then count the number of racers present . If, for example 14 racers pitch up, we will split into two groups of 7 racers each, a race lobby 1 and a race lobby 2. I will assign you to lobby. A second host will then open race lobby 2 and send individual invites to his 6 racers to join, and I will send individual invites to the remaining 6 racers to join race lobby 1 (using the example of 14 racers turning up). Obviously both races will follow the same rules and regulations for all 3 races. The second host will PM me the results of his races and then the final results will be posted.
11) Mic's : if you have one, by all means use it

Racing rules
1) Clean, fair racing and follow the ORL.
2) Drive respectfully, excercise caution and try as best as you can to avoid contact.
3) If you knock someone of course accidentally, be courteous by stopping or slowing down and allow that racer to regain his position.
3) Don not judge other racers as dirty who accidently hit you, cut a corner or go off track. Remember we all make mistakes.
4) Do not impose selfmade penalties in the heat of the moment, such as blocking or slowing down. That is counter productive to the whole spirit of this series and spoils close and fun racing.
5) Remember that the race is not won at the first corner!!

Happy racing! See you on the track dudes :)

ROUND4

Sunday 17/07/11 @ 8pm GMT

C class special this Sunday folks. First race is the E-Type Jaguar Leightweight at Dijon ( keeping it European) and then my two favourite US classic cars: The Ford GT40 Mk.1 (at Monza) and the Shelby Daytona at Road America. Interestingly, the Road America circuit is the only modern day track that still has the original configuration from 1955. Many different racing series have had the occasion to race at Road America. The first was the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) on September 10, 1955, but they were hardly the last. Other notable series have included NASCAR in 1956 and 2010, CART from 1982 until 2007, ALMS from 2002 to the present, Grand-Am, USAC, CanAm, Trans-Am, IMSA, AMA, and the SCCA Runoffs since 2009. Road America also holds a variety of vintage racing events, including the Brian Redman International Challenge.

Good idea, congratulation, unluckily i can't partecipate for a fracture but i have an advice if i dont mind you. I think you should allow just steering lock tuning always cause it's connected to wheel settings, for ex if you want to use 900 degress you must change steering locks. It's not an advantage, its just to use the wheel better.

Looking good, Zeeco 👍

One thing...

Racing will be over the next 6 weeks and will take place on Sundays 8pm GMT. The first race meeting will be on Sunday 12/06/11

UK time is British Summer Time at the moment, which is GMT+1

You do just mean the races are at 8pm current UK time (BST), yeah?

Thanks :)

Hey bud, I know th time limit on the room is pretty strict, but have you tried changing the lobby settings to more people than are in the room needed?

I know if I make an online room and have it minimum 2 max 12, the timer wont start until someone jumps in. Can you set it to say min. 12 max 12, THEN when say there are 10 people in the room and ready to go you can change it back to min. 10?

I am pretty sure that stops the timer until everyone is in.

Good point mate, I forgot about that. The same really applies to brake pressure. It comes down to what you feel comfortable with and is much personal preference. You can't really consider it 'tuning'. For that reason steering lock and brake pressure adjustments will not be considered tuning. OP updated

Yeah the race will start at 8pm GMT (9pm our time ie BST). I've had a few requests to start at 7pm GMT though.

I am with you. Thanks Vax I will do that 👍

I am a bit confused now??? Are there 3 timezones in the US? Eastern, Central and Pacific?

4 - Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific.

Trying to understand Time Conversion Calculators is as confusing as damper tuning

Do I have this correct now:

Eastern = GMT - 4
Central = GMT - 5
Mountain = GMT - 6
Pacific = GMT - 7 :odd:

Yes, today that is correct.

"Daylight Savings Time" throws a wrench into the mix and not all USA states adjust. I am in Central time zone - winter months are GMT -6 but from around March 13 through November 6 it is -5 (daylight savings time).

OP updated re:

1) in the event of maximum racers for a lobby turning up (I need a second host....any volunteers? :)
2) if you have a mic, you are welcome to use it
3) the use of nitrous is BANNED for now :sly:

It seems that the majority of racers wants to race at 8pm GMT.Vote if you have not already please.

BTW on the sideline Europe and North America is going to compete for the Continental Team Legend Throphy. The first 3 places of each race will qualify. Points: 1st place -3 / 2nd place -2 / 3rd place -1.

Example: European racers 1st and 3rd with NA 2nd
Europe - 4 points / North America - 2 points

Anyone up for some practice this weekend?

I'm up for it. But I'm in a middle of a crisis at work (its holiday today and i'm working. Possibly during the weekend to :( )

Yeah im up for it anytime. BTW sorry Stoica 666 for declining your invite. I was racing online and getting a bunch of invites and just did a mass delete before i checked close.

Sorry guys, I wont participate - I played with the thought of joining but I need a break from Shift at the moment... :indiff:

I m too much Montoya for your clean championships anyway! :D

No worries mate:tup:

Your local time at 8pm GMT:
Central Europe - 8pm
UK / Portugal - 9pm
US East - 4pm
US Centr -3pm
US Mnt - 2pm
US Pac 1pm
Stoica sometime Monday morning, I think 8am
BTW Stoica congratulations on your WR 👍

FYI,

If someone has both DLC pack (Legends and Speedhunters), and hosts a game, EVERYONE joining must have both as well, or it will tell them they do not have the correct DLC.

I know everyone has Legends but just need to make sure the "host/hosts" has only Legends not Speedhunters, or I know some folks wont be able to join.

I have both Legends and Speedhunters

I do as well. I made a room Friday with bmw2sq and he only had Legends, and when he got my invite he could not get into the room because it said he did not have the correct DLC.

He made a room, and I was able to join no problem.

The upside is, if you make the room 12 min 12 max and DO NOT set difficulty for the AI the timer will not start at all. Sooo...no messing with a minute and a 1/2 window.

Soooo....Someone that has both DLC's probably shouldnt host I am assuming.

I think there's a room setting called Required DLC. On the default setting, the game sets it for all the DLC you have, but you can set it for Legends or higher, Speedhunters or higher, both, or none at all.

I did not see that option anywhere, but then again I dont make many rooms, so I could have missed it easily.

Thank you guys for warning me about this problem. I checked and you can set:

Downloadable content required to : 1) LEGENDS/HUNTERS....2)LEGENDS only ....or 3)SPEEDHUNTERS only ( in other words you have 3 options, so make sure you choose LEGENDS only)

Vax thanks for explaining how to set minimum...Max opponents 12 / Opponent difficulty NA

Hope that explains everything 👍

Ill be skipping tonight races, but only tonight. Have fun guys :)
