Anyone else think That gt5 should have less standards cars but more premium?
There is only 200+premiums and 800 standard....
Do you think pd should delete irrelevant standard cars and add more important premiums?

I going to be honest here. That's not really a good idea...

«Facepalm»

PD can't just "exchange" Standards for Premiums.

What makes a car "less important"? Does it mean that you like it less than other cars and therefore it should be deleted?

I guess he's referring to the "excessive" amount of Skylines, MX-5s, etc. in the game.

Deleting cars is just silly, regardless of the amount of similar ones in the game. Look how many people miss cars from GT2... Venturi, Vector the race mods..... Regardless of what you think, someone would miss having their exact MX5 in the game.

When it comes to upgrading standards to premiums however, i would agree that they should go for unique vehicles before they do the duplicates.

I don't quite understand PD's interest in putting so many non-race cars in their games... I mean come on who wants to race in a WW2 German VW

Personally, I feel they should include more cars, not less.

It was an easy way to market the game. Did you notice that GT5 made it a point to brag about there 1000 plus cars whenever it was trailered and promoted? They knew people who were not concerned with graphics would feed into that. A small percent of gamers, which are hardcore gamers, want detail. They want better graphics, better sound, and better physics. They want perfection. The cheapest and most efficient way is to satisfy the kids, the ones who cant really notice the details. The 200 cars are for the adults to admire the curves and sleek lines.

I love me some GT5 but trust that it is over rated. In this day and age people wanna practically live another life in the game, which means if someone wants to put custom liveries or alter the dimensions of some Volks I think developers need to do it. Lets take the PS3 to its fullest capacity even if it means boosting the price of a game up 5 or 10 bucks.

So you're assuming that PD spent time on standard cars, which in turn detracted from the premium cars?

I think PD spent minimal time on the standards. By that, I mean that they basically were able to "import" them from previous games (GT4, GT:PSP) with minimal effort.

In addition, your logic doesn't make sense. Removing standards is not going to magically increase the number of premiums. It would actually be more work to remove standard cars than to just leave them be. I think everyone would like more premiums, but there is ZERO need to remove existing cars in order to do so.

I see the logic; yup, ditch all the Silvias, Celicas, Skylines, Supras, RX7s, 350Zs, Civics, Integras and MX5s, and maybe , just maybe, we'll get a Premium 2CV.

Happen?...No.

For the Japanese cars, especially for GT6. Kaz and PD should find one car that's faster then the same looking ones. Let's say a "Nissan Skyline GT-R Spec-V and Spec-V II. A Toyota Supra RZ. A Acura/Honda NSX, both old and new but no more then that. Basically the same looking ones need to be cut out to get replaced with the newer ones from other countries and some new models from Japanese is what I'm aiming at. :)

ah well nvm I'm tired.

Im saying that there marketing and promotions were geared more towards the 800 standard cars because it was what separated them from other racing games as far as car count. Do you remember the sony adds when they focused on " Over 1000 Cars" They put more attention into detail with the premium cars and because it was so much detail they didn't have time to do even 100 more. They simply copy and pasted cars from older games, gave them the HD love(which is a growing trend now) and boom 1000 plus cars are locked in. The DLC's spare them more time till GT6 to do what they were trying to do in the first place. I bet the next DLC will include 1 or two premium car models that used to be standard. The downfall is we have to pay. The VW beetle used to be standard right? Wasn't the Nissan Leaf Standard?

Example. Lets say you have a week to complete a game and you need 200 cars. You are not pressured to make all of them premium nor make all of them standard but because it takes so long to develop the 200 premium cars, you make 50 premiums and 150 standards. Not only is it cheaper, but now you have more money to invest in DLC which also allows you to make more money overtime and squeeze in those premiums you were aiming for in the first place.

That was a very different Beetle, and the Leaf is a brand new car. The XJR9 is the only true standard to premium conversion we've had so far...
