You're all wrong. Including you Fred.

The RX-8's power rating has been lowered from 246hp to 238. Mazda is offering to do one of 2 things for owners who bought the car from the release date to sometime earlier in August/July:
1. Buy back the car giving the owner thier full money back.
2. Give the owner a $500 debit card and free servicing.

I've talked to 2 RX-8 owners on IM, one of which lives right by me and bought his RX-8 from Fusz, and my dad did the PDI(Post Delivery Inspection) on it. Both of them did not notice a power loss, and also stated that they don't mind since the car is not meant for straightline speed, and the handling more than makes up for any loss of power if there is a loss of power.

Overall, I think Mazda did the correct thing by offering something for the owners, when they honestly didn't have to do it.

Also, this power rating issue only accounts for the RX-8, all of the other Mazda models, including the Miata, have thier correct horse power. And there will be a new RX-7, this 8hp discrepency will not greatly affect a new Mazda model. Also, the power of the RX-8 Standard was changed from 187hp to 197hp.

Punk's just a typical naysayer because he's got a fast straightline car and can't accept that any car, meant for straightline or not, isn't rated correctly. But he's not an owner, so why should we care what he thinks? Sure, Mazda screwed up. Not big time. A small mistake taken out of context as a major malfuction. Now then, if, say, the RX-8 had a safety issue that could result in major injuries and/or a fatality, that's a big time screw up.

8hp isn't much at all, and the owners have a choice. If they want to keep the car they can and they get money/servicing. If they detest the car based on a miniscule rating difference, they can sell it back to Mazda and get thier money back. This shouldn't sway anyone's thought of the car. I suggest you test drive one first.

First off - it's Infiniti, not Infinity. :p And I could've told you where Infiniti of Denver is - it's out on Havana by the John Kennedy golf course. It might be in Aurora, but **** if I know.

So I come to grips with the fact that I'm not going to get to drive this car, so me and the salesman start debating Nissans policy. We eventually get into the aftermarket products and he immediately states that adding any aftermarket products, even Nismo products, will immediately void the warranty.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that it's illegal for the dealership to state that anything a customer does to their vehicle will void the warranty. That if any problems occur with the vehicle the dealership would have to actually prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem. This can actually go to court, but who the hell is gonna take it that far, and if you did, who's gonna win? The team of lawyers from Nissan or you?

Actually no - I'm not aware of a single car maker (excepting, evidently, Lexus) whose policy is that aftermarket performance products won't void the warranty - it's interesting because Subaru gives you a free catalogue full of aftermarket STi products when you buy the car! Read the find print and find out that, oh no, if they're installed you haven't got powertrain anymore.

Cus Lexus is frickin cool that's why.
So, Lexus tells me to keep the loaner car and go home. Which is incidentally 100 miles away from the dealership. The service rep goes on to tell me he will contact me when my car is ready and has already offered to drop off my car to me, in Vail, which happens to be 100 miles out of his way. "That's frickin incredible" I say because I have to frigging work all week and there is no way I was going to be able to make it to Denver for quite some time. Splendid!

Damn - that's service! I wish I had a Lexus.

Other than the fact that there is something wrong with my car and that I'm stuck driving a ugly car, I'm pretty damn happy!

It is ugly, and only for very white, old people. My dad has one, in dark red; I guess he isn't as old as most buyers, though. Does yours have the navigation system? Or the fold-down back window thing? Those features kick everybody's ass.

Hah, that's because Sube' like making servicing money. Boy street rallyier comes in, buys a WRX, buys STi parts, thrashes it around corners, totally distroys transmission, takes it to the shop, gets a repair bill for like $2,000, and they have to pay it because they void the warrenty.

My dad sees so many like that come into Fusz because people think that owning a car remotely related to a WRC car makes them a professional rally driver. :)

Meh - they're better than 'horrid.'
Nissan in general seems to be making a turn heading off a cliff. They have uglified nearly all of thier vehicles with that grill thing that makes the car look like a beaver or something buck-toothed.
[/b]

Well - they're doing what's called 'reinventing.' They hired a new CEO who has an actual view of direction, and he's pulling them out of debt. Five years ago, Nissan's line was absolute **** - now it's probably one of the best non-premium lines. They turn good profits, stand behind what they make, and have good engines to put in the cars. It's hard to fault a company who's truly dedicated to turning around - Mazda's the same way, actually.

They also have screwed with the classification of the Altima and Maxima. The Altima use to be thier small car(with the sentra even smaller), and the Maxima was thier midsize. Now, the Altima is huge compared to the car it replaced. It's virtually a full size, and the Maxima isn't a whole lot bigger.

More parrotted criticism, this time from MazKid - fortunately, you guys have me to tell the truth! The new ('02-) Altima is 191.5"; the '04 Maxima is 193.5" - that makes the new Maxima about 2.1% bigger. All the magazines are raving about this statistic, which MazKid picked up on. Nobody caught this one, though - the '03 Camry is 189.2" and the current ('01-) Avalon is 191.9" - that makes the Avalon just 2.4% bigger - hardly a difference from the Nissans. We've got the same thing at Buick - the midsize Regal is 196.9" long, and the alleged full-size LeSabre is 200.0", making the LeSabre just 2.6% bigger. Nissan hasn't screwed with anything. ;)

The new Quest is goofy, with that center dash dumb crap that distracts the driver more than a regular dash. And those "Skylights". Nearly useless. Basically, you will bake in the sun even if you don't want to, unlike a regular sunroof that you can close thus making no sun come in the car from the top. Not only will you bake from the sun on top, you are forced to use the A/C more, especially since those windows don't open at all.

The new Quest might be goofy, but so what? I'm, once again, fighting the tireless task of trying to get people who don't like 'different' car designs to quit telling me what they think. I've heard insults from just about everybody concerning the Audi TT, BMW 7-class, BMW Z4, Buick Rendezvous, Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chrysler Crossfire, Chrysler PT Cruiser, '04 Ford F-series, Ford Thunderbird, Honda Accord, Honda Element, Infiniti FX, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8, Nissan 350Z, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Murano, Nissan Quest, Pontiac Aztek, Porsche Cayenne, Toyota Sienna, and Toyota Solara. The truth is, those cars sell well and do what they're built to do very well - you people just don't like their different styles because you're deathly afraid of change.

I must say that that isn't a Nissan policy. My dad bought an Altima (I was there, just to make sure the guy wasn't screwing us over). We test drove it, and when I asked the guy about the tuning potential he actually promoted Nismo. My dad brought up the point of warranty: it's covered. I just think you went to the wrong dealership to check out the Infiniti (either that or they have a bunch of whack policies...).

Oh, how would you know? They're ever-improving. If you haven't been in a BMW dealer for more than an hour in the last two years, you shouldn't be commenting.

Been there just last winter for a service on the old lady's 328ci. I think **** would have received a better treatment than i did. And the other BMW dealers in the area wouldn't service the car because it hadn't been bought there.

I actually believe that means Perfect Delivery Inspection. At least in the car business that is what it is called :D

What car buisness are you talking about? In dealerships it's POST. Why would it be PERFECT? What if the car isn't perfect?

A car transporter goes to Fusz Mazda/Nissan/Subaru with cars from one of the automakers, if it's a Mazda or Subaru the mechanics in the Mazda/Subaru service building do a PDI on them, while Nissans go to the Nissan service center(in the next lot over) and they do thier PDIs.

Post Delivery Inspection = AFTER the cars are delivered to the dealership by the transporter from the plant/distribution center they came from.

Hope that clears it up.

Damn - that's service! I wish I had a Lexus.

Damn straight that's service!
I plan on writing them a flowery e-mail that says how much Lexus rules and how much Infiniti sucks. :D

Flowery E-mails will get you nothing...well...err...it got me a chrome Mazda key fob and 2 Zoom Zoom decals, a subcription to Zoom Zoom mag(though I should have gotten another one after the first one I got...), and signed my dad up(for him to give to me) with Mazda FUEL(yet I'm missing the July/August issue which really agravates me).

Go for it! Maybe you'll get some freebies out of em. :)

Good work man!

However, I don't expect nor want anything from Lexus other than there continued excellent service.

At least on my end I really enjoy it when someone compliments me on a meal that I have prepared for them. Or I get a letter from a meeting planner saying how much everyone loved everything. I'm hoping that I can give that same sense of gratification to the service rep and his department. I'm sure they would appreciate it. Maybe they will get something instead. ;)

W-h-h-hoa! You guys want crappy service? Look no further than Fowler Motors in Conway South Carolina. My dad bought his Mercedes ML320 there and they absolutely suck. Car has a problem? They'll fix it but they won't give you a car to drive. I could go on and on but I'll let you imagine everything else. Stupid South Carolina.

Your dealerships all suck, the Volvo dealership that services most of our cars actually sends a mechanic in a servicing van or truck to our house, to perform the repairs right here in our own garage.

Beat that.

Wow, boom, I'm shocked. I can't say I blame you one bit for feeling the way you do. That's just ridiculous! I was driving the G35 Coupe within the first 10 minutes of the very first time I visited the dealer. And, unlike PunkRock, I didn't have to show or sign anything - I just said "I'd love to take it for a drive.", and we hopped in the car and we were off. The salesman drove us off the lot and took us about a mile down a road, stopped and let us admire the car by itself in a church parking lot, then let me drive for the remainder of the test drive, down some fun roads and then about 2 miles of high speed interstate driving. And that was after I told him I was just shopping around looking at the different cars that I was interested in! On later returns to the dealership, I went on about 5 test drives before I bought the car, wherever I wanted, so I could make sure I liked the car in all different driving situations. My salesman was lacking in a few areas, but overall the buying process was a pleasant experience.

Try out a different Infiniti dealership, boom, it sounds like the one you visited was simply not up to par with the rest of the Infiniti family. :irked:

Hey Boom maybe you should tell Lexus your little story and praise their ass's and suck up a bit and they might give you something for free or do something kool for you. My mum sent a company a letter on saying hows good there services were (and no stupid smart ass remarks to that, otherwise there's a big can of whop ass to any one who tries it) and they sent her a bunch of flowers, picnic hamper and champigne. Gotta be worth a try. When you get your car back?
BTW what's the infiniti G35. Is it the 350Z or what???:odd:
Edit: now know what it is now after snoopy's clarification of it.

My teacher got 2 free S2000's from honda when her back broke in an accident in her CRX...now she gets free hondas for life and all she did was write honda a letter telling them how awsome their cars are....

1/18 Honda's?

Hell, she should have sued for millions -- a few lousy cars means nothing to them.
