Seriously, I was never a fan of the previous Navigator, but this looks like Barney the dinosaur took a dump on it. Ugliest SUV on the road, IMO.

Discuss.

I think Doug is the only one who's permitted to post these in here so we can all call him an idiot and he can tell us to shut up.

Don't even get me started on Lincoln's new design scheme. They've gone and injected their cars with all the finesse of a gherkin.

Normally I'd agree... but I saw one on the road away and nearly spit up a little of my In-'n-Out Double-Double.

I thought looks had next to nothing to do with why people purchase SUV's. I think the likes of the Navigator are just to show how big your wallet (and penis) is.

Anyone who buys a Navigator over an Escalade is racist and xenophobic.
:irked::grumpy::sly:

And very possibly blind.

Actually, I like it, I mean, I really really like it. There is just something about it that screams elegance and sophistication. (Although it could just be that I am a sucker for a large chrome grille...)

It looks like it crashed head-on into a gigantic waffle iron.

Sure, the Escalade is cross-eyed, but the Nav takes the biscuit.

And I thought the Tribeca was ugly.

I think the Navigator-Escalade thing is just the best example of how GM is better than Ford. They both release these weird things within months of each other and Ford's has ALWAYS been considerably worse.

Another example is the Lincoln Mark LT versus the Cadillac Escalade EXT. If you're saying 'what's a Lincoln Mark LT,' head on down to your local Lincoln dealer - they'll be the ones bolted to the showroom floor.

I think they need to be a little more original with their naming of SUVs, I mean Explorer, Navigator, Compass...

Also, why ARE they called SUVs, theres nothing Sporty or Utilitarian about them!

Uh, ok, I'll just walk a couple thousand kilometers, I'll see you in about 3 years...

Anybody who buys an Escalade over a Tahoe is black. Uh oh!

No, but seriously... Everything that comes out of lincoln or mercury is aesthetic hell.

It's funny - you're in Australia and have seen no Lincoln Mark LTs on the road, which is the same amout of that Lincoln has sold in the last five weeks.

Well, the wing-like tail lights are fantastic. The wheel arches look much more taught and toned than the Slade's--they're round, as a wheel arch should be. The body in general looks more fit than the Cadillac's. But the front is hideous, that's for sure.

I'm starting to see now that Ford is getting a little lazy and using the same stylings from other cars (e.g. Zephyr backlights, front grill...who knows how many different ford cars that resembles)

Maybe it would sell better if the grille had more chrome on it.

And if the interior looked more like it came out of a 1983 Town Car.

Or if the modular engine was more anemic.

Or if it was heavier.

Do you want to know why this truck fails at life?

They seemed to have stolen the gage-cluster out of my neighbor's Continental, and looks absolutely idiotic compared with the rest of the nice-ish looking interior of the Navigator...

The Escalade is indeed infinitely better, and hell, even the GMC Yukon Denali is better as well. Although I would admit that I would rather have the Navigator over the Aspen, its a tough call in the end, as they both drive me crazy with how stupid they look.

...But even then, I'm more of an SRX kind of guy, and competition wise for the Lincoln brand, the MKX isn't the worst model out there, but it certainly isn't the best.

I quite like the dials, I think they're suitably retro.

It's the horrendous wood effect and champagne leather they need to ditch.

the rear looks so much like the Nissan Stagea it's not even funny

Wow, when I first saw the rear I thought exactly the same thing, I thought I would be the only one to think that.

The Continental has the same huge piece of molded shiny plastic and flat gauge panel that Ford has been using since like 1995.

i like the gauge cluster as well as the rest of the interior. i guess im kind of traditional. you cant deny the quality of materials used to make it either. all i would change is that grill line that goes halfway through the headlights and then rounds off. it should completely divide the headlight. that would look better. im not too sure about the large lower mesh. i might divide that twice with the center a little larger than the ouitsides. i wish i could photoshop well, i could show you exactly what i mean.

afterthought.... the steering wheel is very nice.

I don't think it's so bad for an suv, but of course, that isn't saying much, like Jeremy Clarkson said once, "It's like saying, 'Oh good, I've got syphilis, the best of the sexually transmitted diseases!'"

when I first saw that, I thought that Vogons have finally landed on earth. that thing is HIDEOUS!

... But have any of you SAT in the interior? Its horrible! The armrest has exposed screws under the lid. It cost over $60k. 👎

Is the Mercedes GL better than the Navigator?

Ah yes. I have. Quite a shame, as I always thought that, barring the shortness of power the 'Gator has always suffered from, it was the better of the two between the Escalade and it. However, Cadillac completely redesigned the Excalade and made it way better than it was, and Ford just chromed the front of the 'Gator and called it a day.
