The livery of TS020 is inaccurate. I know some will say, "That livery resembles Marlbolo so they fixed it" or "Esso brand is no longer exist," but an innaccurate appearance is innaccurate.

That's strange. Doesn't it say "Esso Superflow" on the back of the car anyway? And isn't Esso still around in some countries?

What I wonder is why the Coors ads on the NASCARs are blurred out instead of just removed or replaced.

No, it says "EXXON Superflo." And yes, there are Essos in some countries such as Canada, Australia and Japan. Therefore, I am starting to think that this may be another license issue.

Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro '09
It's the 5.2 V10 model but it has headlights from the 4.2 V8 version. It should have full LED headlights.

I think the missing series decals on some cars are pretty much down to licensing. Unsurprisingly, all the standard cars carried over from GT3/GT4 don't have them because they haven't had the licensed renewed for those logos (although where exactly will you go to get a license for a long dead series like the USRRC?).

Would it be worth mentioning the Lancia Stratos Rally Car? Since GTPSP, if I'm not mistaken, the Alitalia logos have been replaced by Polyphony Digital logos. Also, the number plate has been replaced with a bar-code censor thing. This is actually somethig noticable on many Standard rally cars, which have bar-code number plates and bar-code driver names on the side windows, along with blanked out nationality flags.

Edit: also the Martini Delta HF and Martini Delta S4 have censored number plates, drivers and sponsors.

There's no Martini logos because Martini is a alcohol brand and that's a no-no in games (Same reason for the Coors logo being censored). Driver Names I believe are also have to be licensed, which is why so many of them are missing names (Like the Corvette C5-R or the Viper GTS-R)

If you zoom close enough on some standard cars, some driver names are actually there, but nigh-unreadable (because standard cars ;)), even if the names are of PD developers (Zonda and 350Z LMRC).

Kinda doubt you need a license to put your crew's names in the game ;)

They're blurred out because of a law that in racing video games, real-life tobacco or alcohol sponsors shouldn't be advertised in any way.

The Volvo 240 GLT Estate '88 is full of incorrect information.
They never made a GLT Estate in 1988.
It should weight about 1390kg instead of the 1890kg they have listed.
The engine should only have 114HP @ 5,400RPM and 136LB-ft @ 2,750RPM instead of the listed 127HP @ 6,000RPM and 139LB-ft @ 3,000RPM.

It seems like the only things they actually got correct was the dimensions of the vehicle and the factory gearbox ratio.

I found some cars which are represented incorrectly:

Ford Escort Rally Car
No driver/co-driver name, no "Escort" Logo in the windshield and no number. No driver/co-driver name in windows. (Belongs to Juha Kankkunen)

Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car
No "Repsol" sponsor in the hood and in the body. No name of the round in top of the number 4. (Rally Monte Carlo)

Lancia Delta S4 Rally Car
No "Martini" Sponsor in the hood and in the body. No number in the door.

Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM
No "ARCOR" sponsor in windshield and "mannesmann" in hood.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Rally Car
No driver/co-driver name, no "Tommi" in hood and rear bumper, no round name in top of number "1" (TAP Rali de Portugal 1999) and no plate. (Belongs to Tommi Makinen)

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV Rally Car
Same as VI. (Belongs to Tommi Makinen)

Mitsubishi Lancer Super Rally Car
Same as VI and IV. (Belongs to Tommi Makinen and PD)

Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution Rally
No driver/co-driver name (From Hiroshi Masouka)

Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2
No number in door.

Peugeot 206 Rally Car
No driver/Co-driver name (François Delecour/Daniel Grataloup) and no round name in top of number "14" (Rallye Tour de Course, Rallye Sanremo, Rally 1000 Lakes, Rally Australia, Acropolis Rally or Network Q RAC Rally)

Renault R5 Rallye'85
No "Philips Auto Radio" sponsor in body and neither in the hood. No round name in top of number "3" (Rallye Tour de Corse 1985)

Toyota Celica Rally Car (ST205)
Wrong plate of the round on top of Number 1.

Toyota Corolla Rally Car
Driver name censoured (Didier Auriol/Denis Giraudet), wrong year (1998, not 1999!), "RACC" sponsor censoured, "sparco" logo censoured and number of plate censoured.

97 Toyota MR2 G-Limited says turbo on the side stripes and has the raised grille on the engine lid that only the turbo car has. Although it does say G-Limited on the boot/trunk lid instead of GT-S.

NTSC versions of past GT games used the Exxon logo in place of the Esso logo wherever it was needed (like on the 206 rally car as well); I thought it was just for brand awareness, but it must be a licencing thing. That said, I find it weird how GT5 and GT6 all use Exxon logos in place of Esso ones across all versions, not just the NTSC version.

In addition, the Esso Ultraflo Supra went bye-bye after GT4.

The Lancia Rallye-Cars also have blocked Martini-Lettering 👎

Dude, it's alcohol brand. And this issue has been talked to death.

More reports:

R8 5.2 having Silvia S14 Q's description seems to be yet another NTSC-only issue.
Citoren Xsara WRC '99 has Polyphony Digital and Rally Tokyo R246 2009 instead of RACC/Rally Catalunya decals.
R8 LMS '09 Team PS has Gran Turismo logo instead of ADAC Nurburgring 24 in the side (Falken GT-R, which came before it, had the Nurburging logo) and Gran Turismo URL in the rear "windshield" instead of Destuche Post logo.
Peugeot 908 (all models) - apparently the US English and some other European languages mention Renault instead of Audi (European English mentions Audi)
Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205 WRC '95 - Bad/biased history in description (game claims Toyota rage quit at the end of 1995 season after DSQ for illegal turbos, whereas what actually happened was FIA ejecting them and banning the works team for 1996)
787B - made up driver names

That's it for today, @Gerarghini :)

I don't think this is necessarily a "missing" thing, but just something interesting I noticed today about a car. The Alfa Brera, like I assume in real life, has the date/time/temp on a screen between the speedo/tach. But it reads "Tuesday, 1st, August." Anyone have any reasoning as to why this date? I tested on Grand Valley (Normal.) Could perhaps "dates" changed based on track? Or is this something obvious that is incorrect possibly?

Most likely it's a licensing issue for NTSC games.

And I believe there are laws regarding the placement if alcohol/cigarette ads in certain video games. Explains why we don't have the JPS livery for Senna's Lotus.

August 1 fell on a Tuesday in 2000, 2006 and various other years, which you can check here, and the next time it will happen is 2017. I don't know of anything particularly significant happening on a Tuesday the 1st of August, besides the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, so the date was probably just chosen as an inside joke at PD, perhaps it was someone's birthday or something (not Kaz's though, that would be August 5).
edit: Actually, now that I think about it, another plausible answer is that the Brera that was modelled may have been built on Tuesday, the 1st of August 2006, it was a 2006 car after all. It could also be the default factory clock setting for the car.

Just noticed that at least 1/2 the NASCAR cars are missing the A-Pillar "NASCAR Race Car" logo. How PD can miss something like that is beyond me.

Umm Esso still exists I go to it all the time.
EDIT: Tree'd
