Curious if anyone uses a load cell and whether or not it’s worth the investment. I know plenty of really good drivers that don’t use one so I’m on the fence on whether or not I should get one. I’ve read quite a few reviews and the vast majority on the retailer’s websites are, of course, glowing reviews saying it’s worth it.

Also, is there any type of mod for the accelerator? It always feels like 80% of the throttle is in the last 20% if the pedal travel. I suppose I could Google it but I’m lazy and need to improve my Brands Hatch qualifying time before I gotta go to bed in an hour. ;) damn responsibilities.

a load cell won't improve your times if that's what you are after but I'm sure the feeling of realism is something hard to argue with, the worth is up to you. I've used tennis balls and other things, I like to shorten the stroke of a pedal set with a heavy shim and just recalibrate the brake for a shorter stroke more near the stiff side of the spring.

Throttle response in the game is not linear, most likely what you as do many of us, don't like. Swapping a stiffer spring on the gas could help.

Your quick answer is to short shift ;)

How does one calibrate the brake travel in GTS? I thought 100% travel is 100% brake and can't be changed....using t300 rs suboptimal pedal here though.

With everything off; push the brake down far enough to place a shim of any kind to limit how far it can return, turn everything back on and load the game, fully press and depress the pedal on an arcade grid or something similar. Try it if you like, it has always worked for me in any gt game going back to gt4.

Is the Load cell mod worth it? It depends, trying to determine if I've had value for money, I would have to say in the long run yes, but it was/is not without it's issues. I run the T300 with the T3PA pro pedals & the load cell mod from ricmotech, I certainly see a benefit from easing off slightly on the brake going into the corner, however every now & again it will act up. Once I'd come to terms what the issue was then it was easier to manage but it still happens from time to time. It stems from GTSport calibrating the pedal every so often, so if I'm in the groove & have been braking consistently then all things are generally fine, if I've missed a braking point a couple of times or the circuit has a hairpin & I get over excited standing on the brakes, it is possible that it alters my braking effort for the other corners, which is fine if I notice & have to go harder than usual, but if I haven't then I've seen myself brake & only get 50% when that force normally have resulted in 100%.

I also run a G29 with the 3drap brake mod, this one is much more forgiving & whilst I am slightly faster with the T300, it's not really one for the kids when they want a shot.

Interesting, I’ll have to give that a try when I get home. I use the conical rubber stop but I wish it had just a little more give to it. However, I have to press really hard the first few times to get it calibrated correctly, otherwise I have to restart.

I have a ricmotech load cell on my T3PA Pro pedals. I actually really liked the conical bushing that they came with. At times I think I'd want to go back to it just because with the conical brake bushing you can tune travel versus apply force with the threaded rod to adjust the free play. I say this because the Ricmotech cell's only adjustment is a few bushing durometers. Those only adjust the amount of pedal play you get, and don't affect the apply force needed for max braking. GT S itself doesn't have any pedal calibration in game either, so you can't "short calibrate" it. AC doesn't have it either, PCars1 did, and it was a big help.

So suffice it to say, the pressure required to get full brake is really quite a lot with this setup, for GT S and AC specifically, and that for me was a pretty big con when I started using it. After time (and a lot of nights with achy calves and knees) I've gotten used to it. I really do like how it works with modulating the brake pressure versus having to modulate the pedal travel for trail-braking and when dancing around lock-up. I think it's a great addition as long as you can cope with lots of brake force... and your rig is up to keeping things in place when you do.

I recently modded my T3PA with a loadcell and my braking has been far more consistent. It feels far more natural and you dont need to think conciously about how much braking you need before every corner. I cant imagine braking without anymore!
