Logitech RS50 | Settings and tips

Hello everyone ! I received my RS50 last Thursday, and had time to play with it a few hours since... Coming from a G27 since 2007 and a G923 two years ago, this is pretty much night and day !

Verry satisfied overall, the most striking first impression is how better is the feeling when starting to oversteer, and how natural it feels, making it way easier to handle.

I started with recommended settings, but I must say I'm quite surprised with the max torque recommendation in GT7, the steering becoming much heavier than anything I drove in real life (including a few laps in a 458 Italia), to the point it felt like some heavy duty machine... On the other hand, recommended settings in ACC felt way too light, as if coming from two people with totally different approach to FFB.

I'll try with less in-game max torque and higher sensitivity, and less dampener and filer on the base.

@LOGI_Rich : the left and right gear paddles have a very different feeling, the left click being much sharper and precise, even if both works flawlessly. Should I be concerned?

Let me know if you need a better one, this is the best I could do during my lunch break 😅

Again, functionally it's ok, I don't really pay attention to the difference after a few laps.

That's a very slight variance in sound and is definitely normal. There's slightly different volumes of air in either side of the wheel hub.

I’m still experimenting - and enjoying play-n-racing with the new RS50 wheel base and wheel. Primarily with the track-wheel on the hub.

I find that the ability to easily set up and changing between multiple profiles on the wheel-base is really nice. A general base-profile and additional profiles for specific favorite cars or car classes.

Among other it’s nice to adjust force feedback on the base vs. In-game. Being at a finer scale yet allowing GT7 to deliver max. output.

Do any of you have other exeriences or tips after some time on the RS50?

I have my RS50 for a week and still trying to figure out best settings for me.

So far I figured out that standard settings are almost the best except dampener which I find better on Off than on 20(just like Kireth suggested, you get better responsiveness)

But the most important thing is in game settings of max torque, that one I think 10 is fine ONLY for Comfort tires.

For sports tires I find it a bit heavy so lowering it to 7-8 is better for me.

and of course Racing tires(as suggested for Gr.x class) lower max torque to 5

My settings are:

Strength:8
TF Audio: 100
FFB Filter: 6
Dampener: Off
Angle: Default (Is set automatically per car (by GT7)

In game settings
Sensitivity: 1
Max torque: Comfort tires 10, Sport tires: 7-8, Racing tires: 5

If anyone else found some other settings do share

I'm about to buy the RS50. Currently using T-GT 2 since about 3 month and it's a nice wheel and ergonomic in terms of buttons.
Is the RS50 wheel also good in terms of button ergonomics like the TCS and Fuel mapping buttons?

I upgraded from a Thrustmaster TGT-II to the Logitech RS50. I was using the TGT-II with three different wheels and had gotten quite happy using the "Ferrari 488 GT3" wheel with the settings possible with GT7. I've never used the original Thrustmaster GT-Wheel, so can't give you a 1:1 comparison.

The Logitech Wheel-Hub has taken a little while getting used to, with the different ergonomics. I often play with the PSVR headset - playing "blind". Now, after getting used to the new set-up, I'm happy with the placement and feel of both the buttons and encoder wheels.

My only (slight) gripe is that I can't seem to configure the "GL" and "GR" buttons in the GT7 settings. No biggie.

I wouldn't run an 8Nm base on a Playseat Challenge tbh. I own one, had it since 2022 and its very rickety and I lose FFB just running a T300. I'm only 12 stone so not exactly putting it under stress either. For my TLCM I had to drop the LC brake from 100kg down to about 50KG, anything more and the whole rig rocks backwards under 100% braking. I also had to drill out the pedal deck and slide allen keys in the holes to stop the whole pedal deck sliding forward once the red plastic locking thumb screws wore out. TLCM's clamped with hose clamps and don't move.
GT Omega Prime Lite/Lite R will be my next upgrade, can get them secondhand for aroud 350-400 with a seat. People often buy a bunch of expensive gear then sell it a few months later barely used as they lost interest in the hobby.
Ideally I was hoping Logitech would make a more Playseat friendly base and pedals, something like a true DD successor to the G27. It was so simple back then, one box everything came assembled. Now would need like seven boxes and assembling parts of the products yourself at a much higher cost. Maybe they will be in the future release a Sports Series or lower rated Racing Series products. I think speed, detail and precision is the main reason to get one and could be like a great long term base to have. It is currently only direct drive base in that price range that connects to PlayStation at 1000 Hz too. You can also always turn it down if it becomes too much for it through the settings.

I do have experience using 8 Nm base on one as got the Gran Turismo DD Pro Express Version with load cell and 8 Nm PSU back in 2021. It was underwhelming so I ended up selling it the following year, maybe Playseat made it feel worse than its potential. Didn't even bother trying the load cell as wasn't really a way to mount it and didn't want to damage the Playseat. Anyway, I did get 5 Nm power supply as standard with it due to paying extra for the Express Version and that felt like a 1 Nm wheel. Felt so much weaker than even something like a T300. The 8 Nm power supply made a big difference in strength getting it close to something like a T-GT. Would be interesting if one day someone does a test what actual torque is produced in the same games and power efficiency. I wonder if Logitech is more efficient as it has a smaller PSU not only in size but rating while delivering the same if not higher power from motor.

I think something like TRUEFORCE could work well with the Playseat so you can get feel through the whole thing, noticed it a bit with T-DFB. Another advantage is this wheel base is quite lightweight which will be ideal to not feel like it will tip over like with something like the T-GT.

T300 Racing Wheel Servo Base: 4.607 kg
T-GT II Servo Base: 8.46 kg
T598 Servo Base: 4.7 kg
GT DD Pro Base Weight: 5.1 kg
PRO DD11 Wheel Base: 7 kg
RS50 Base: 4.4 kg

I always wondered why some companies went to effort of making all these expensive belt-driven wheels when surely direct drive would make more sense like move Logitech made.

It is easier to upgrade cockpit afterwards if it becomes an issue and personally would only look to get it new if I was to do so. I won't be using it much anyway, just to check the state of play of sims once in a blue moon so will be a waste on me but want to get a wheel out of curiosity and get some use out of current Playseat I have.
Challenge X is a different proposition to the original Challenge - definitely more sturdy and I've been running RS50 on the X for over a year with no issues. Even the Pro Wheel before that... although at 11 Nm definitely pushing things.

To be honest though, even the original Challenge is going to be fine for most people and I ran the Pro on that before I got the X - we make do with what we can manage, right?

@Saidur_Ali Ultimately, get the best deal that you can, wherever and with whichever combo that is. The requirement for having PS specific buttons shouldn't be a deal breaker though - stickers are the answer, either with what comes in the box with the Wheel Hub if you get that (pictured), or with label options that you can get on places like Etsy.

I have got the newer ActiFit version just as it came out so not sure if that improves build quality over the original. Hopefully there is a newer revision Challenge X that fully supports mounting it with all the bolts in the future and then I might upgrade. Main reason I like the Playseat is you can get like the comfortable F1 seating position while still being portable and not bulky. Most of the time I used G27 on desk with pedals on carpet so this will be a big step up. Yes, we make do. I remember G27 not supporting PS4 being a blessing in disguise as it made me use standard controller. It surprised me how competitive you can be with one, looking back being ranked ahead of some of the GT champions on some TTs and even the likes of Lando Norris and Esteban Ocon surprised me, I don't believe it!

Yes, I will try and get the best deal. I wanted to get a wheel again in time for next GT game but with PMR and GT7 Spec III around the corner, might be tempting to get one earlier. It is more the PC buttons don't really offer anything extra, thanks for the photo as that is something I might get as an Xbox option. Any reason why Xbox Pro rim is not offered? Thrustmaster is launching standalone GT wheel next year, does that mean licensing for PS wheels is getting relaxed so potentially if I wait longer, Logitech might start offering PS Pro wheel and wheel hub as standalone?

Will the next product be a singular announcement for the shifter or will you be able to tease us more stuff is coming soon? Would appreciate full replica style wheels one day with that McLaren partnership for likes of F1 and GT3. I know you mentioned to Kireth, it is due to low usage you didn't include clutch paddles but would prefer more Pro options in other materials (Or topstitched) with it included as it could be useful even as a backup for pedals even. Feature parity with the GT DD Extreme wheel would be good to have so all bases are covered. It is always going to be a low use thing unless games force launching with one for cars that have it. I remember first time I used one in real life, my glove finger got stuck between the paddle above when releasing clutch so made me go into anti-stall. Managed to quickly recover the situation though and get going, was grateful for that experience as you learn more when things don't go completely smoothly.
I now have the RS50 with pro pedals on a Playseat Challenge X. This works fine, I did have to turn down the pedal load-cell somewhat. The wheel base with maximum ForceFeedback and Trueforce on a bumpy track and GR.3 car is a bit much, not just for the stand/seat. For me too ;)

Overall I would like to try with a bit more stability. Later in the year I’ll drag my old cockpit/seat out of storage to try it out. We currently live in an apartment and space is limited, the Challenge X is a great compromise.
Will be interesting to read about what difference your old cockpit makes. Good to see Playseat Challenge X works fine with it, I would consider getting that model but only used my current one a few times so don't see need to sidegrade at the moment. If Playseat or some other company makes a new product compatible with all the new wheel bases, pedals and shifter mounting with a bit more rigidity, then I would for sure upgrade.
@Saidur_Ali
I have a Playseat Challenge with the RS50 for weeks now, to make it more stable I use the Mods for the Seat.
The one for the Wheelbase and the Pedals are working very good, and it is still foldable.
Thanks for the info, are you using the RS pedals and did mounting it involve cutting the foam if using mods? Any photos if you don't mind sharing?

I've been having issues with my new RS50 randomly stopping in the middle of a race. All the firmware is up to date and the connections are al set. I've seen a few posts on FB and Reddit covering this. Any ideas @LOGI_Rich?

Thanks for your help and support!

@Saidur_Ali

I´m using the Pro Paddels and for the mods you have to cut the foam. Don´t know if it is the same with the RS pedalls.
