I stood in line for about 45 minutes this evening at Game Stop to purchase my reserved copy of GTA: SA. Did anyone else out there have to stand in line just to purchase your reserved copy or a copy period?

On another note, the strategy guide won't be released until tomorrow. BUMMER! Nonetheless, the game itself will suffice for the time being.

They were selling the strategy guide at EB... But Strategy guides are stupid. They take all the fun out of the game. 👎

With all of these types of threads, we know know what to excpect when GT4 comes out! :p

That'll probably be worse, ya know.

But, I'll get the Strategy Guide when I finish the game. It's selling over here for $23 (AU). Not worth it yet. I like to do things on my own. How big is it? (without giving anything away)

In most cases, yes. But if you call a hidden packages map a strategy guide, then definately not in that case! I love playing Vice City and everything, but honestly, who has actually found all 100 hidden packages without a map? ;)

Actually, I done it without a Guide once, but only after I had done it a couple of times with a Strategy Guide. It was difficult.

Also, I meant the Strategy Guide, not the Map, Kevin.

Yeah, I should have worded that differently. Maybe: Who has never used a map or strategy guide to find all 100 hidden packages?

I stood in line for 20 minutes... and I was one of the first few people at the store :irked:

Ah well, I feel sorry for everyone else that was behind me. They would have had to wait *at least* 1.5 hours to get their reserved copies. Even tomorrow, the eb near my school wont be selling many copies to people who didn't reserve it... it's just too high in demand

I think that would be outright impossible. Maybe ask Spuds if anyone on GTAForums has done it (and is a reliable person)?

I arrived at gamestop around 6:20pm, i left around 8pm. Needless to say, i have my copy!

Back to playing..

I got to EB at 5:50. I left at 6:05. I have my copy. I dindn't even wait long at all....

I didnt have to wait for my copy (cept for having to work til 9). I got there and they were closed but the dude working there said I could still get my copy cuz he hadnt closed out the drawer. w00t.

Well my EB will be mayhem, but my order is secure. Thank you my EB friend.

Doesn't help that its the school holidays here. There will be a mad rush mid morning around 10.30 when all the kids start nagging there parents. I've got to be up at around 7.00 am on Friday morning so I might as well get to my retailer at 9.00.

Just cause you sweet talked one of the staff ;)

No waiting for me, mail order! I don't think my dad would wait in the car while I queued for about an hour.

That's why I live almost right next to EB. Always have (not just where I'm living now).

Befriended. The word is "befriended". ;)

Also, where abouts are you from pimpin_t, if you don't mind sharing? It seems as if you're from somewhere near me...

No Line for me picked it up right when the store opened. I just got back from picking it up at my local EB. I got one of two copies that were unreserved. I took my chances and didn't preorder GTA, but since I was so close this time, I decieded to go ahead and preorder GT4.

I thought you were from Autralia. I'm from Essex, England. Otherside of the world!

Oh okay. Sorry, I just got some feeling that you were in Australia or New Zealand. My mistake.

No problem. I have an Aunt in Australia, don't know where abouts but the bugs are bigger than the dogs in England. :)

No line for me-- EB opened at 10, I was the only one there, walked in and out in about 3 minutes.

I just got home, as soon as my kid finishes his breakfast I'll be loading it up... 👍

Strategy Guide?

Pfft. Surely you'd only resort to a strategy guide when you're stuck on a mission or can't find any more hidden packages or jumps and by that time there'll probably be a guide up at gamefaqs.com or somewhere here will be able to help you.

I only resort to faqs and guides when I'm truly stuck and even then I'd never pay money for a book when the internet has sites full of guides and forums like this where you can ask questions.

EB can go to hell. I went up yesterday and asked if it was coming out today. They said "Yes, but it will be sold out within the first 20 minutes. We said to preorder! This is when I can laugh!" Blah blah; I left a bit dissapointed, and a little agitated with EB. Nonetheless, I decided to try my luck with Best Buy today. I went up around 2:30, anticipating a no show of the game.

Seven copies in stock. EB, which apparently only cares about preorders anyway, leads you to believe that there is a serious limited copy, and at Best Buy (not two minutes away) they were stocked. So I picked it up, took it home and played for three hours straight like it was nothing.

Good stuff.

It must be a location thing, im guessing the people who live in more built up areas are having the problems, i know ill breeze in and out where i live even though i have pre-ordered from a busy place.
