so basically gears make it so a engine can move at more than speed. m your briliance amazes me. you were too busy being smart to relize what i said is a simplified version of your explination. BTW i love how you have these guys eating out of your hand

Well, we progress into the future. We cannot always live in the past. Technology always progresses, so why keep on staying in the past? I like V8's also, but there is nothing wrong when a new car can match the same time slip with an old V8 :)

So Thio, How is the weather where you are at?
It is actually pretty sunny right now, even though it is 6:50 over here :)

Right now is a great time to walk outside and smell some fresh air. I should probably go do that :)

i see what you are saying, and am not putting it down in any way. go to your local drag strip and see how the imports fare against the domestics. it is pretty amusing actually. and there isnt anyhting wrong with seeing a new car match the time slip. but then when you take that time slip and compare it to the price tag it took to get there you will be in for a big suprize. give a guy with a camaro and a guy with a gti the same amount of money and see who goes faster.

No Goodwrench. I brought up gears because it is a basic litmus test. If you don't understand it, it means you don't understand the difference between horsepower and torque.. and how they are really the same thing.

I don't give a rat's ass what kind of car you like. I don't care if you hate imports... nothing new around here. But your going on about how horsepower means nothing and torque means everything means you don't even understand what horsepower is.... I'm just feeling in the mood to point it out.

No, I don't think you want to open up that particular can of worms more than it is already.

Okay then, but you have to understand the audience the cars are aimed for. Comparing the GTI and the Camaro is just ludacris. They are in a different group. Comparing the Supra with the Camaro will be a good match, eh? ;)

uhh horsepower is nothing more than an equation of torque and corresponding rpms. torque equals rotational force which ultimatly turns the wheels. we will see how a 4 cylinder is doing at about the 60 ft mark.

yeah and a supra is what....rear drive...and twin turbo'd and v6d. and also cost like 3 times as much as a camaro. it might be a good match but i recall a time at the sunshine drag strip where the only thing a supra could beat was another supra. and it was racing like fox body mustangs and stuff, nothing too fancy

are you saying the supra doesnt have good toruque , u must be crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. it doesnt matter how many cylinders man. jeez an STi boasts 300 hp and 300 lb ft of torque with 2.5 litre 4cylinders

thank you. Definately a twin turbo Supra wud be a good comparison
you are right a v6 with two turbos would do good against a naturally aspirated v8. would be a great match up

Actually a Fox Bodied Mustang was the lightest Mustang chassis made. . . How is it not too fancy? What do you consider "fancy"? Oh, it has to be a Chevy right? I like Chevys too, but I will say don't underestimate a Fox body.

I'm thinking of buying a horse. Make about 1 horsepower, that'd be sweet.
which equates to .636 Monkey Power : )

V6D?

What is that?

Supras are Inline 6's ;)

edit: What are fox-bodied mustangs?

Anyways, I have downloaded videos where a Supra ate a first generation Mustang for dinner ;)
Fox bodies were from the 80's there. . .

Torque has no ability to do WORK. Torque is a force. It has no concept of TIME. To get a car down the 1320, you need to DO WORK. Christ, its highschool physics for cryin out loud.

I'm empty.. time for more booze.
