Ummm... Well, I think my quest for a wheel is over.
Found a G27 on the bay for $50 shipped.

Do you already have an existing stand/cockpit setup?
If your looking for a stand, this thread will point you in the right direction.
Right now I have a Wheelstand Pro V2. I like it, but the rod in the middle that the wheel sits on, they claim won't get in the way, but it gets in the way. And the mounting point for a shifter of any kind is not in an ideal position.
For just $300 for the whole thing, that might be a damn good deal. Other stuff that I would compare it too (Gamepod, Playseat, GT Omega) is a little more complex, but a lot more expensive.
🤬 it, I might get one.
I would spring for the $470 GT Omega basic rig if the shipping costs would add on an extra $200.![]()
Not to mention I'm looking to move by the end of the year. So... Portability is a must for me.
I just moved on Dec. 30 with my G27. Not that bad/difficult. We have a ~60 lb. table, though... It was a pain. We disassembled it in order to get it out the door, but the G27 itself folds up nicely.
Outside of cars with massive spots of rust, I think it's typically absurd not to buy refurbished. But, then again, I'm the guy who'd like to get a 2015 STi.![]()
As far as getting used stuff, I may not have had many purchases, but I have helped a few find stuff, and I have a good track record with it.
But I'm that type that would buy an E46 M3 that I just got done test driving even if I can't afford it. I would also like a Ferd Fiesta ST though...
Just so you're aware, some G27 models have some issues in regards to the feedback motors. I bought my G27 back in December last year and while I was testing it out, I always hear a clunking sound whenever feedback is done while I turn right. It actually sounded like it'll break. Fortunately the G27 I bought was brand new so I could RMA it. But since you bought a refurbished one it probably doesn't have a warranty anymore.
As for G27 modding, there's a lot of stuff you can do to it. One of the more popular ones are reverse mounting the pedals to have a GT-style pedals (requires hard-mounting it somewhere), changing the wheel rim (using a rim that's bigger from the default rim will most likely dilute the force feedback), and swapping out the brake pedal spring or changing it altogether (GTEye or Nixim). There's even a mod that lets you stiffen the shifter throw.
