Season four starts tonight. With the writer's strike we currently can expect only seven episodes.

Two hour episode tonight at 8:00 pm ET.

Let the mysteries, questions, and downright confusion begin.

Side note: They have a video game coming out as well.

My thoughts tomorrow.

will we find out who/what made the four-toed statue?

Only 8 or 9 episodes unaffected by the strike... so we may have it cut short :(

SPOILERS!

I generally liked it. Good to have it back. There was nothing mind-blowing in this first episode (besides Charlie coming back), except that Hurley can see and hear Jacob as well? And I guess Locke has been hanging with Jacob? Interesting.

Hurley mentions "The Oceanic 6" - 6 returned from the island? Jack, Kate, Hurley... whoever was in the coffin I imagine, and two more if I understand correctly.

Also, why isn't Desmond playing more of an active role in telling people what Charlie said before he died? Jack would be more inclined to listen to him that Locke, methinks.

More later, I'm tired.

Hurley can see and hear Jacob as well? And I guess Locke has been hanging with Jacob? Interesting.
I was thinking the same thing. But I think Hurley seeing Jacob makes sense because he seems to also be connected to the island, but just not in tune with it, in fact he is scared of it because of the curse that came with the money and that he was hallucinating before.

Hurley mentions "The Oceanic 6" - 6 returned from the island? Jack, Kate, Hurley... whoever was in the coffin I imagine, and two more if I understand correctly.
That's what I am thinking too.

Bigger question: the guy that visited Hurley, claiming to be an Oceanic attorney, asked if they were still alive. Who is they? Did someone stay behind? Did something happen to make whoever picked up the survivors think everyone else is dead? What are they hiding? What does Jack not want Hurley to talk about? The island in general or something that we have yet to see? And is either of those two (it could be the same one thing) things related to the people Charlie tells him he needs to help? Or is Charlie talking about the six that return need help so they can go back?

And Kate seemed happy to be home in Jack's flash forward, but Jack appears to have been as well. So, does that mean that they all eventually want to go back because they are no longer happy in the everyday mundane world they came from?

Also, why isn't Desmond playing more of an active role in telling people what Charlie said before he died? Jack would be more inclined to listen to him that Locke, methinks.
Technically Desmond is still an outsider. He was on the island before and how do they know for 100% sure that he isn't spy. Don't forget we have third-party knowledge that Jack doesn't.

Plus, Jack came in and started wailing on John before anyone realized that he was there. Some of the group tried explaining to Jack, but he wasn't listening. Desmond speaking up wouldn't have added anything, and Hurley was the most emotionally hurt of the group that knew what Charlie said.

And another question is if Locke has come to terms with Jacob and is now just stopping the island from being hurt but doesn't mind anyone else leaving? His attitude changed from no one can leave and blowing up the submarine to trying to stop those that are not actually there to save people.

On a side note: I will not be doing my write-ups as in the past. Today I am swamped at work and I will be on vacation for the next two weeks. So, that is nearly half the season missed. On the plus side, my vacation will be in Hawaii so I may get to see where they film Lost and I'll keep an eye out for any Lost stars living there.

I thought it was funny that my dad pointed out Lost has been on for how long? and that fat guy is still fat. lool

I was wondering why it was still on the air...

Tell him to pay attention to the timeline... the show's been on for three years, sure, but they've only been on the island a few months.

That and he was actually busted hording food. He was responsible for handing out the food and was later found to have stockpiled a lot just for himself.

I was wondering why it was still on the air...
Just a guess, but 16.1 million viewers? On a ratings "slump" it had over 13 million. Heck, the clip show that brought us back up to date before this episode had over 13 million viewers.

One of the Dharma videos ive seen has them cloning rabbits in the "orchid" section of the facility.
Just thought id throw that out there.....

Ive managed to find episode 1 (40 odd mins) online, but no linx to ep 2 yet.

Did you guys get a full two hours of new stuff?

Wasnt the guy who visited hurley from the airline, also the Haitian in heroes?

Shoot me down. I love these threads..

:trouble:👍

One of the Dharma videos ive seen has them cloning rabbits in the "orchid" section of the facility.
They're not clones, they're two of the same rabbit. The rabbit was in both places at once, hence the "Keep them away from each other!!!", so as not to destroy the universe, or whatever, should the two of them come into contact.

They're not clones, they're two of the same rabbit.

That has got to be quote of the year.....

Anyway! Bump!

Ive just seen episode 4 of season 4 tonight, and wow!

What did i learn in episodes 3 and 4....

well.... spoilers:

The oceanic 6 are?

jack, kate, desmond, hurley, sayid and baby aaran.

Kate has baby aaran with her to help with the legal proceedings she faced when returning to civilisation, right?
So what happened to claire?
(still on the island i guess)

Sayid is a contract killer, killing the people who are investigating into what actually happened on the island, before they find out anything, and he is being ordered to do the dirty deeds by Ben, who has some hold over him, which is to do with jack, kate, hurley et al, getting into trouble for having the truth discovered about what they did on the island, and so he has to do what ben says, or something.

Desmond has been influenced by some kind of rays in the original station, and is now fully aware that he is living his life in two or more time frames, but is slowly beginning to lose the ability to distinguish between the two, and will eventually pop (like neo in the matrix) when it all gets too heavy and he cant differentiate between reality, and future reality.

and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Im thoroughly enjoying it though, the whole sayid episode (3) was cool enough by throwing ben into the future mix, (i didnt see him surviving), but then episode 4 had evangeline in panties, and concentrated on her for 40 mins, and what more could a grown man ask for? :dopey:
Im hooked all over again.

However this thread has gone quiet
Where is everyone?

I leave my comments open to foolkiller's fool killing abilities for retort.

Like a sleeping giant I have been called upon.

Sorry for my absence, I have been on vacation and then spending the time since playing catch up on everything, including GTP and work.

One of the Dharma videos ive seen has them cloning rabbits in the "orchid" section of the facility.

At this point I believe that we can throw any clone possibilities out the window. Cloning animals may have been a possible Dharma test, but at this point any idea of cloned humans seems far from plausible. Mainly I think this because the entire Dharma initiative was wiped out, and Juliet's presence on the island seems to show that The Others have not mastered the science left in place by Dharma. So far we have only seen them using the security fence (flip a switch, not too hard) and communications equipment. Nothing complex. If they can't even treat serious medical threats I highly doubt they have the ability to continue Dharma experiments, especially cloning. I also think that Ben sees no need for it as he is of the opinion that the island provides everything they need.

Personally I think that Ben has placed too much faith in the island and any side effects of the island require outside science (Juliet). How this aspect plays out will be very interesting. I find The Others slightly odd in that they lack the natural curiosity of humans. I mean, they don't know what the monster is, nor do they care.

To me that is a clue into the monster being a natural result of the island, or The Others at least believe it is, even if it is just a side effect of a Dharma experiment, because they see all island-related side effects of human actions as natural.

Did you guys get a full two hours of new stuff?
No, one hour of review and then one hour of new material. An interesting side thing they now do is that before every new episode they replay an "enhanced" version of the past week's episode with pop-up facts about filming and reconnecting old clues. It has saved me a lot of looking online to make the obvious connections that we were meant to get. No mysteries are solved, but it does prevent me from saying, "wait, what are they referring to again?"

Wasnt the guy who visited hurley from the airline, also the Haitian in heroes?
IMDB and Lostpedia to the rescue.

Nay, I say. The Haitian is played by Jimmy Jean-Louis. The supposed airline lawyer, Matthew Abaddon, (who is actually the man that hired Naomi and company) is played by a man named Lance Reddick.

Close but no cigar.

(still on the island i guess)
Quick spelling correction. In Lost Aaron is spelled with an O, as in Moses' brother. Locke makes a point of making that connection.

As for the Oceanic 6, the question is if Aaron counts. In the season finale of Season 3 we have the first flash forward. In that flash forward Jack goes to a funeral visitation. It is closed casket. We don't know who died. But as far as timelines go it seems as if Jack's flash forward is farther in the future than anyone else's. So, it is quite possible it was Sayid's funeral. Maybe Ben's. Unless Hurley loses a ton of weight the casket was too small for him. We know Kate is alive and I assume Aaron as when she meets Jack she says, "He is waiting for me."

Or is Kate's Aaron really Claire's Aaron? If Kate lied to Sawyer about being pregnant and Claire and Aaron die then perhaps she names her own son Aaron?

Or I am looking into it too much. For now I think your list is correct, but I am leaving a large window open for change.

This inclusion of Ben alive and well, and still conniving, is interesting to me. So far Jack and Hurley have wanted to return to the island. Sayid is still tied to the island, obviously, through Ben. Could Jack and Hurley get back with Ben's help?

And if Sayid is now helping Ben, and everyone else is lying, could it be that Ben was always telling the truth when he said that they were the good guys?

And of course, is everyone else dead? Or did they just stay behind to join The Others? Jack is very single-minded and wants to return. Kate the same, despite knowing she has to face her legal consequences. And I think Hurley believes home = sanity. Personally I feel that Sayid returned just to help Ben.

Ah yes, Desmond. This is now twice that we have seen him jump back and forth in time. And from what I can tell every bad thing in his life is because of the island. He left Penny to fulfill his destiny on the island and save the world. He was kicked out of the military because he went AWOL to reconnect to himself on the island.

So, here is the paradox:
Desmond is on the island because he jumped back from the island and realizing his destiny is tied to the island broke things off with Penny and went to the island.

In essence, he is on the island because he is on the island. Clear? No? Good!

And in Lost production news:

Five more Lost Episodes coming.
http://blog.lostpedia.com/2008/02/carlton-five-more-episodes-of-season-4.html

So we have the eight episodes were were supposed to get with the writer's strike. Now that the strike is over producer Carlton Cuse has announced that we will have five more episodes after that. It is still three episodes short of what we were initially promised before the strike, but those three lost episodes will be pushed into seasons 5 and 6.

The only drawback is there will likely be a four week hiatus between episode 8 and 9. I assume this is because it takes more than a week to produce one episode so there will have to be breaks somewhere and instead of going a couple of weeks between each episode they are going to take a full four weeks off of broadcasting so that the last five episodes will run back-to-back.

Anyone else remember how we were just going to do 16 episodes so that we wouldn't have breaks and filler episodes? Wow the WGA strike screwed us on that one. This will also push the finale beyond May sweeps, so if you have any early summer vacations plan accordingly.

Personally, I would love to see the last three episodes be DVD/Blu-Ray add-ons that have clues but nothing spoilerish. But I think that giving the writers the task of scrunching 8 episodes of story into 5 and then putting the other 3 into the next two seasons is enough to ask for without making them take on the task of semi-filler mystery episodes just for DVD release. Of course, if their new contract gives them DVD money I suggest making them earn it too. Either way I am happy because I got more than I expected.

And this brings up another question about the strike. I wonder if the WGA made sure to say all disc sales and not just DVD. If they were promised just DVD sales money then they will be screwed on Blu-Ray sales, especially since anyone with a Blu-Ray player and HDTV will pay the $10 difference (Wal*Mart only) for Lost.

Man, thankyou so much for the reply!

I love reading it how it is, and that is always how it is when im reading what you've written.

Exelero will be gutted though, as she was sure that she has been seeing flash-forward's for nearly the whole three seasons leading up to four, and i attempted to inform her on saturday night that the first flash-forward was at the very end of season 3, which you have just confirmed in your post.
She is adamant that some of the scenes with hurley in season 3 in the mental hospital are scenes of the future, and again mentioned to me about the car he's been building at home, and how the same car is involved in his chase scene in episode 1 of season 4.
Im sure between the two of us, we can put her straight when she comes in here. :sly:

Im glad you approve of my oceanic 6 list, and i wonder how you could not consider Aaron as a member?
He would be counted by the media as one of 6, surely?
Your theory about him being named after claire's baby, and actually being sawyer's child, i disagree with.
He's simply too old.
The age of the child Kate pix up in episode 4 of 4 is about right for someone Aaron's age, providing that they dont actually get off the island for another year or 18 months....
Id put him at about 2, maybe 2 and a half, 3?
Right now he's what, 3 months?
I seem to remember Jack saying to the chopper pilot (forget his name) that he hadnt seen a baseball game for 10 weex, which would make Aaron about 9 weex old, but that cant be right, maybe i misheard him?

I suppose its possible that Sayid isnt on the '6 list, as he could have come into town later with ben in tow, and therefore, this throws an empty seat on the boat/chopper/plane/ski-doo into the frame, and therefore, i agree with your comment about leaving the '6 wide-open for the time being, i guess its too early to be certain on a list of 6 definite names.

Thanx for your post man, always good to read your responses.

When do the episodes come available to you there?
I have to find linx online, and am never sure when they will pop up. I used to have a consistent link before the strike, but nowadays, i cant always watch brand new lost on a friday after swimming....

:irked:👍

As with everything I am leaving all possibilities open, but the first confirmed flash forward is Jack's at the end of Season 3.

I can take this one easy.

In Hurley's other flashbacks where we see the car we see his dad, whom he had been rebuilding the car with, return after having left the family for years. Now, we find out that his dad returned just to get at Hurley's lottery money.
On the island Hurley mentions already having won the lottery.

In other words, everything involving Hurley's car before is connected to his dad showing up for his lottery winnings, which happened in the past. So it has all been flashbacks.

Yes, in Hurley's flash-forward he has the same car, but that just means he got it working after he got back home.

Now, the hospital scenes.

I just established Hurley won the lottery in the past. Hurley got the lottery ticket numbers from a guy in the hospital. So, the hospital was pre-lottery winnings, which makes them even more past than the lottery and car. Also, the hospital is where Hurley got the numbers, which he was then afraid of on the island because of what they had already done to his life, in the past.

Im glad you approve of my oceanic 6 list, and i wonder how you could not consider Aaron as a member?
As a minor it is completely possible that he was never shown to the media. I think that would all depend on whether he was brought back with Claire or Kate. Claire may want to hide him, knowing his father would suddenly show up. Kate would hold him up to use him as a tool for her trial, or even motivation for her to face her consequences and make a jury understand her motives. She could not have known (I think) that Aaron would be the catalyst for her mother to not testify.

He would be counted by the media as one of 6, surely?

I think it is most likely Claire's Aaron and that is what we should think, but I just throw out ideas.

However, don't assume you know how far in the future the flash forwards go. Plus a murder trial is no short ordeal. I believe that Jack's flash forward was the farthest into the future, but I cannot say for sure.

One other thing, when they leave the island something weird happens with time. Remember the rocket that the scientist had shot from the ship? It was 30 minutes off. Sayid and Desmond took one or two days longer in island time to get to the ship than it was to everyone else. Something weird happens with time, but not something I have ever encountered in sci-fi before. Or it isn't obvious if it is.

I seem to remember Jack saying to the chopper pilot (forget his name) that he hadnt seen a baseball game for 10 weex, which would make Aaron about 9 weex old, but that cant be right, maybe i misheard him?
As of Episode 3 they were on the island 96 days. The following week's "enhanced episode" with pop-up facts said so.

Possible, but Sayid did tell the guy on the golf course that he had received a large settlement from the Oceanic 815 crash. Then he shot him.

If you can manage to get on to the US ABC Lost homepage they usually have HD episodes. Or did last year.

Personally, I have my PC set up to record every episode on my TV Tuner card so that I never miss an episode.

If only it were that simple for me to record it....

:grumpy:👍

Thanx for your answers.... you should be on the billboard hoardings over here which read:

LOST season 4...... answers are coming.....

For shows like Lost I see no vlaue in not airing them globaly within a week of each other.

Answers have been coming for a long time now. And we do get some, but they always just lead to more questions.

I think it is most likely Claire's Aaron and that is what we should think, but I just throw out ideas.

I think it is because on the last episode that I saw, Kate told Sawyer she wasn't pregnant.

Unless she was lying.

Well, this is Kate. She isn't exactly know for her honesty.

And the writers aren't exactly known for letting us in on secrets and plot twists either.

First couple of series we were about 6-8 weeks behind now we get to see each episode pretty much the same week as you guys in US. Tonights episode here is the one you guys have just seen.
There's a few shows like that for us now, House is another one that I watch that is pretty much aired the same week as you.

Tonight being Thursday?

That would put you a week behind us. That definitely isn't as bad as in the past.

Yep, last night was Thursday. I take it that is shows Thursdays in US then.
Yes. It used to be Wednesday's but American Idol was hurting the ratings because people would watch American Idol and then DVR Lost. So, they moved it to Thursdays.

SPOILER from here on

New episode stuff.

Last night's episode wasn't exceptionally great, but it did show just how crazy and coniving Ben is. Oh, and I guess his obsession with Juliet means Jack may be in danger.

this season is full of craziness. I love Kate so much. Jack is totally a fool :D

btw look at the camouflaged cameraman :D

what the hell is going on with Jin and sun?
:S
Like, what do you mean? They have major marital issues, always have, and always will.

SPOILERS

So, it seems as if I may be correct in not counting Aaron as the Oceanic 6, but I have another thought. Perhaps Desmond does not count, after all he was not on Oceanic flight 815.

It looks like Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, Aaron/Desmond.

This assumes that Jin dies before they get home. If he is not part of the Oceanic 6 that would not have upset Jack to read about Jin's death in an obituary.

So, either we are still mixed up on who exactly the 6 are or someone other than Jin dies when they get home.

And one last thing.

Michael is back in a crazy way.

that guy was a gay?
wow!
Yeah, They said a year or so back that they would have a gay character and most people believed that it was Tom because of the way he acted toward Ben.

So, the question now is, will the ship's captain kill Michael?

And which people are telling the truth, Ben or the boat people?

And is Michael the one actually causing issues? He never admitted to sabotaging the engines.
