how do you win the third event in the special event section.

can't catch up beause everyone else is doing what you are trying todo and somehow the leader has a faster car........

Just get in the slipstream of the Lowe's car #48 at the start and stay as close as you can ,it will drop you a bit but you'll get the slipstream down the straight to catch up if you're about 1.9 seconds behind coming off turn 1 then you can close in on the pack ,then it's just a case of trying to pass as many as you can.

i don't want to pass asmany as i can i want to win and tbh its seems impossible

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! 2nd by .033.

...You should be 6th by the second time you hit the back straight. Jump to the next group of cars on the last bend... and pass them as you finish. I just gotta perfect it. STAY BEHIND SOMEONE NO MATTER WHAT! EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN SLIGHTLY.

I don't know the specifics of the challenge, but it sounds a lot like the infamous Mission 23 in GT4. You'll have to draft the cars in front of you, but don't break away from them and chase the leader because you'll never catch him on your own. Mission 23 required you to draft the cars in front, pass them, and then let them draft you so that they'd get by; you could then draft them again and use them to reel in the leader. Rinse, lather and repeat as necessary ... but since I haven't played GT5, I can't really comment on the best strategy.

It wont work because the pack breaks up into 2/3 sections, of which you can't jump to the other, if you slowed down to do the switch, you'd be too far to EVER catch the first pack. AND ON TOP OF THAT, you get only two laps, which is about 1 minute and a bit of usable time.

I managed to get Gold while winning this competition. The trick is to get as close to the #48 at the start. When you get close to the main field the first time try to overtake them outside (you will get to overtake one and get in front of his line).
At start/ finish line at end of lap 1, keep clos to the car on inside (I think its #48) and pass some cars on the inside line.

Next turn outside overtaking again and in last turn you need to manage to pass on the closes inside line and to get in front of the first car.

Tried it 30 times and at one point I was successfull

I've been first, on the last bend, FIVE TIMES now. But twice the AI has just rammed me... and the other three times I've gotten DQed for NOTHING. I'm pretty sure it was for hitting A BUMP ON THE ROAD, ON THE BEND.

THE GAME HATES ME. /Quit LIFE

I can't win the one with the pit stop. Any tips?

Don't pull out straight away, you want to join the flow of traffic, DON'T slow any opponents down. Then ALWAYS stay directly behind someone to maximize slipstream, it should be really easy once you get the hang of it.

Then come join me on the last one... 1 hour and a half of trying... and still going. I AM NOT LEAVING UNTIL I GET GOLD.

FINALLY! GOT IT! BY .002!!! As I crossed the line, stupid AI rammed me and made me spin out, but I JUST made it! /Quit GT5 ... I need a break.

Haha. His voice got REALLY annoying. Picture this, after an hour of losing by milliseconds.

You're driving, last bend, your inching in front of first! AI rams you... You spin out, come last and/or DQ... He says "Ooooohhhh, did you mess up?".

When I meet that guy in real life, I'm gonna slap him and say "NO! YOU MESSED UP"

I have problems with the pit stop one, christ the ASM is killing me. Best I've got is second. The two "last 2 laps" I got in 2 tries, but this pit stop is giving me head ache.

it's not overly difficult to gold this event, you just need a good start. by the start of the second lap you should be in 4th position, slingshot off the 3rd place car to the leading two cars. you should be in first position as you enter the final banking otherwise you'll never get the gold. i'd recommend golding the nascar school events because you get awarded a nascar at the end of it, saving you a crapload of credit if you want to enter the nascar races in extreme events

Yeah the ASM, can it be disabled?

And nice work Morsolo
Unfortunatly no. I can see pad users having a hard time golding this event as you need to be super smooth with the steering

This event is pretty easy to be honest. Put ABS down to 0 and you'll gold it no problem. Did the pit stop one on my second attempt, and the last one on my first attempt after deactivating it. It's damn hard if you don't though. Much respect for the guys who golded it without turning that off. I'm using a pad btw, so steering wheel users should find this even easier.

I turned off the ASM with my DFGT which helped a bit but it's still a major pain. I just don't have the patience for it right now so I moved on to other stuff. After 8-10 tries I couldn't do any better than 3rd. I'll come back to it eventually.

I just did it ,I was 11th coming onto the last lap but got some good slipstreams and was lucky with how the pack broke up ,now for the pitstop one...

I am VERY happy that it gave me the Old Spice NASCAR from the ticket :)

I remember passing it in the event and thinking "I hope the prize is a NASCAR and I hope I get that one... I'm on a horse." :)

You can turn off the ASM if you configure RA menu buttons for the ds3. Still, took me like 2 hours to beat the pit stop event :/
